Help with Wording

I've got a neat concept for a card, I'd just like some assistance with making it sound the way Wizards words their cards. Here it is: Vesuvan Namesmith- 1U, Creature- Human Wizard, tap: Name a card. Change the name of a spell or permanent to the named card until end of turn. 1/3
Is this worded to work the way that I want or is it too confusing? Please help

  • If you want to make a serious card, how about
"Choose a card from outside the game and reveal it. Target spell's or permanent's name becomes the chosen card's name."
  • @Tomigon Thanks! I overlooked the un-sets when trying to find examples. I still think that it could use some of the wording of Nevermore and similar cards. I would like it to be able to combo well with Declaration of Naught
  • Nevermore, Declaration of Naught.. You are evil.. LOL!

The first thing came up in my mind is to name a card the person you hate the most and using Dismember on it. I'm true evil. Hahaha. So I thought the card's name should be changed to real card's name. I totally forgot about cards like Pithing Needle.

    How about
"Target spell's or permanent's name becomes the name of your choice"

  • Yeah that's a lot better, thanks
