Probably my favourite thing about magic is the flavour text. Now, I'm not particularly invested in the wider story of the magic world - I haven't read any of the books or comics or any of that stuff - but I appreciate good writing when I see it and, honestly, some of the flavour text out there is just golden.
While the power level gets lower every day, I have a soft spot in my heart for Sengir Vampire- one of the first cards I ever opened. Some people say they don't like the art but personally I think it's great- that wild frizzy hair and the crazy claws and fangs are maybe a little over the top but they get their point across. This vampire probably eats those sparkly twilight wannabes for breakfast. Kev Walker totally nailed it with this piece.
To top it off, that flavour text is perfect. It captures the idea of a centuries old monster, rising from the tomb to spite the living absolutely perfectly. A part of me really wishes I'd come up with it myself...
Which is exactly what I want you to pretend you've done! Take one of your favourite flavour texts and slap it onto a new card. Make the card cool and powerful and make it match the flavour text perfectly- better than the original, even.
