@MonkeyPirate2002 (Nevermind dude. Oh and by the way, I'm not gonna add absurd out of context stuffs like 'suddenly the Decepticon descended from the sky and blast everyone with their deadly lazers and technological superiority, hurr durr'.

That kind of medieval card game could even fit in everyone's medieval-based stories that has a splash of magic.

And even then, canonically there's a Witcher who has the ability to walk between the worlds like a weaker version of a planeswalker. It's also not impossible that there should be more people like that person from that world.)
  • How much longer do I have for the challenge?
  • @Ranshi922 Until September 20th:
    10:00 Greenwich time
    5:00 Eastern time
    2:00 Pacific time

By the way @Jonteman93, is that AM or PM?
  • The real deadline is the 21st 10:00 London time GMT+0. That means this time every Friday.

This time is set so everyone have their whole Thursday to use.
That's why I say that Thursday is the deadline because that is the latest collective time for everyone.

@Jonteman93 Due 10:00 AM or PM?
  • @ShaperKyon AM. Sorry for late answer.

I will find time for the story later.
  • @Jonteman93, I need some extended time for this. I am picking ally and I have homeowork to do and to catch up on. Can you please extend it until thru the 22nd?
  • I'll be writing the story portion later, but here's the new ally and follower.

  • @Ranshi922 You can submit cards after challenges as well. Also cards don't need to follow the challenges.

I don't want this journey to be like the tournament of champions where I delayed many deadlines which delayed other deadlines thereafter and so forth. So sorry but I won't delay the deadlines. At least not while we are still in the early or middle of the journey.
I might make exceptions when we get closer to the end of the journey.
However as long as I haven't posted the "snake message" entries for that week's challenge can still be made even if the official deadline has passed.
  • Okay...I am in the same boat as Ranshi922
So could give us a heads up like if we could be knocked for not submitting a card for a challenge on time @Jonteman93
  • @DoctorFro Don't worry. Neither of you are in the danger zone this week so take your time with the school work of yours without stressing about this journey.

  • @JonteMan93 could you show us how many pv points we each have?

IV. Pyuri and Haliza, part 1/2
Kyoniq swooped down into a gigantic cavern. The opening was a rocky slope that angled down to the cavern floor, which was covered in a huge lake. Directly beneath the opening there was an island in the lake. Upon the island was a mountain and upon the mountain was a gleaming, white, towering, monolithic building, bigger than anything Kyoniq had ever seen. It was the Jugiha Temple.

    image

Kyoniq flew around the cavern with the drakes who nested there, eventually landing at the entrance to the temple on the top of the mountain. Two massive white doors hung open, and Kyoniq entered a tall, bright foyer, lit with fire globes. The sun didn't provide much light down here. There were many people milling about quietly. Kyoniq approached one, a human.
"Excuse me, I'm a newcomer here. Would you mind telling me a little about this temple?" asked the planeswalker.
"Of course, we always welcome newcomers. The Jugiha Temple was constructed 50 years ago by a collaboration between the merfolk of the gulf, the elves of the mainland, the humans of the islands, and the dwarves of the mountains. Since such collaboration is shunned by most, the temple was kept secret. It is constructed on the intersection of five leylines and is the greatest place for arcane knowledge, experimentation, and ritual in the known world."
Kyoniq was confused. "Secret? The people I met seemed to know about the temple."
The human shrugged. "They know it's here, but not anything about it. It's just taboo to them."
"Thank you for being so open," said Kyoniq, surprised at how freely the human gave information.
"Oh, it's no problem," she said. "You're lucky you asked me; I'm part of the Holy Ward. Those in the Nature Ward or Death Ward might not have been so happy with your questions."

Suddenly, a side door burst open and another female human walked out, flanked by a pair of zombies. Her skin and hair were pale, she wore leather clothes adorned with bones, and in her hand she carried a horned skull glowing with green light. The human to whom Kyoniq had been talking scurried away as the other walked straight toward Kyoniq. She stopped a couple feet from him and pointed an accusing finger.
"I am Pyuri, necromancer of the Death Ward. You are the wizard who infiltrated and immobilized Jugiha's defenses. You will come this way, please."
Not wanting to make a scene, Kyoniq allowed Pyuri to escort him to what seemed to be a cabinet along the wall. When they stepped in, they were shot up several floors and stopped high off the ground. Kyoniq and Pyuri stepped out of the flue. They were now in a dim, low-ceilinged chamber. Dozens of zombies flocked to Pyuri.
"You, mage. You destroyed my zombies which hurt my reputation. I could kill you just for that." The necromancer scowled.
"I didn't mean to challenge you," said Kyoniq. "Your zombies attacked me; I was just defending myself."
"For good reason," countered Pyuri. "If the trading city-states or the elvish alliances found out about what we're doing here, their armies would be at our gates in a week. Those fools don't understand true power."
The necromancer took a breath. "Speaking of power, I want to be on the Jugiha Council, the group of five that oversees the Temple. There's one member for each ward: Holy, Lore, Death, Flame, and Nature. I'm close to being appointed as the Death Ward representative, but there's one obstacle - a certain dryad named Haliza."
    "Dryad?" asked Kyoniq.
"You know, a nature spirit. She knows something's up with this area and is trying to investigate. I sent my zombies to kill her, but she easily defeats them. If she finds out about the temple, she'll have the elvish legions on us in no time. I'm currently the head of temple defense. If Haliza dies, I'll be appointed to the Jugiha Council for sure. Here's my offer to you, Mr. -?"
    "Kyoniq."
"Kyoniq. Kill Haliza and bring me a vial of her blood, or I will kill you," Pyuri said matter-of-factly. "I want to be appointed to the Jugiha Council. You want to not be killed by me. I think we can help each other."

    image
(Story card. Not to be judged.)

Kyoniq raised an eyebrow (or at least the tuft of feathers that served as an eyebrow). "Are you sure you want to fight me?" Kyoniq began to draw on the rich mana that flowed under the temple, preparing for battle.
"How about this, I'll throw in something extra for you. How about access to the Archive for a day? The Lore Ward doesn't let just any stranger in there, I'll tell you that, but I can pull a few strings for you," responded Pyuri.
"What's the Archive?" asked Kyoniq, a little to eagerly,
"Oh, just the largest collection of all historical, magical, scientific, and literary texts ever compiled. If you need some info, it's there," said Pyuri smugly, knowing she had caught him.
"Would they have information on the giant tower on the horizon?" asked Kyoniq.
    "Of course."
Kyoniq quickly weighed his options. He was not the kind of aven that just went out and killed people for personal gain; he was not a murderer. But there were many benefits. First, access to the Archive was just the thing Kyoniq needed to continue on his journey. He needed more information about the Tower, the Spark Serpent, and the Tower Lord. Also, Haliza seemed like a person that could do a lot of harm. It would be terrible if the Jugiha Temple fell because of her. Maybe killing her would actually do more good than harm. Finally, Kyoniq did not want to fight Pyuri. He had no doubt that she would make good on her promise to kill him, and here on her home turf, it was not worth the risk. Kyoniq could also pretend to agree and help Haliza instead, but he decided it was probably better to kill her. "Okay, I'll do it," he finally decided.
"Amazing," smiled Pyuri deviously. "Haliza lives in the eastern forests." Kyoniq stepped back into the flue and headed up to the top of the temple.

IV. Pyuri and Haliza, part 2/2
Before he left to find Haliza, Kyoniq bought some food from a cafeteria in the Temple. Surprisingly, the owner allowed him to pay for his meal with his home plane's currency. Seeing the old silver coins made Kyoniq think of Janial, which inspired him with new purpose. He needed to get back to his home plane as soon as possible to save her. After eating, Kyoniq flew out of the temple and toward the home of Haliza, following Pyuri's zombies who led the way.

Kyoniq had to go on foot to not lose sight of the zombies under the dense canopy. The wildlife fled before the undead zombies. The temperature rose as they travelled into a valley. Kyoniq was feeling hot. Up ahead, at the bottom of the valley, the forest animals had gathered. Riding a stag was a person who looked like a young human girl. A shock of red hair fell down her bare back and she carried a mace. She was almost naked except for garments of leaves covering her breasts and hips. Kyoniq decided she must be Haliza. He approached her with hands raised in a gesture of peace. He wanted to hear her out before he made any rash moves. The dryad fixed him with a contemptuous glare and spoke.
"Who are you, bird man? Another creature from the swamp to mar my beautiful island?"
"I come from the swamp, but I didn't come to harm the island. Lady Haliza, I was told that you are prying into the swamp's business. To what end?" asked Kyoniq.
Haliza laughed. "Why, to destroy it, of course. Anything from the swamp is unnatural and must be destroyed, or else the corruption will destroy the whole island." An owl perched on a nearby branch screeched and dived at Kyoniq, raking him with its claws. "My creatures are uncomfortable with your presence," observed Haliza. On instinct, Kyoniq shrunk the owl's body into that of a harmless frog. Haliza's face contorted with horror, as though both she and her beloved island had been simultaneously dealt a grievous insult. "Your twisted magic is an affront to nature. I will not permit it on this island."

    image
(Story card. Not to be judged.)

"Attack!" shouted Haliza. As one, all the creatures arrayed around Haliza grew larger and charged at Kyoniq and the zombies. Kyoniq was plunged into a fight for his life. He began to cast his spells.

    image

Kyoniq quickly retuned a charging boar to the aether with an enchantment. When Haliza cast it again, Kyoniq countered the spell, scattering the magical strings pulling it through the aether. Now with some room to breathe, Kyoniq summoned his fluidform again. The zombies had been destroyed, but Kyoniq and the fluidform still battled against Haliza and her creatures. Kyoniq used a combination of body-warping and aethereal magic.
"How could you use this magic?!" shouted Haliza. "Creatures are not meant to have their shapes changed. They should simply follow the role they were assigned at birth."
"Our forms are not fixed!" yelled Kyoniq. "We can be anything we want to! Besides, you are also affecting your animals' forms. They're unnaturally large, hypocrite!"
"My magic is natural! Yours is not!"
"What is natural?" Kyoniq flew up and kicked Haliza. She fell of the stag she was riding, and bled from several cuts. Kyoniq quickly collected some blood in a vial and stood over her. He reached out his hand and Haliza began to grow wool. Her nose became a snout and her hands, hooves. "No more fighting, my wooly friend," Kyoniq said softly.

    image

As soon as Haliza became a sheep, her animals, now without her magic aiding them, scattered. The sheep's wool was red, the color of Haliza's hair. Kyoniq stored the vial of her blood and turned his back on the sheep. He heard the growl of a wolf from the shadows, and the sheep bleated in terror. He would let the wolf deal with her. After all, it was only natural.
Kyoniq and the fluidform burst out of the canopy, flying back to the Jugiha Temple.

    Showdown in the Wild

Meanwhile in a deep wilderness of an unknown land, the night has fallen.

"You know, I hate mosquitoes." Darius, the thief was sitting and squirming in front of a bonfire. A large leather backpack filled with multitude of medieval camping equipments also lied to his right. A little farther to his left, two fairly large brown stallions were also bounded to a large tree.

There was also a cliff and a steadily flowing waterfall that located just around a few meters from the camp itself.

"Tch, humans and their sweet blood." Snickered another demonic person who was currently sitting crosslegged while also cleaning his wicked sword with a tattered grey fabric of a cloth.

"Whatever Jag." The thief then pulled a seemingly detailed map of the region that he of course 'borrowed' from the Tristania Wizarding Academy he just infiltrated along with his companion and his 'boss' a few days ago.

"Judging by that waterfall and the cliff, we should be yet here, and according to the boss, the flower should be growing in this river, hmm... it should be at the other waterfall that located farther from that cliff. Precisely almost in the middle of this wilderness. I believe that's why he left us just to keep watch over here. Well, I got these weird but protective orbs anyway." Rambled the nonchalant thief as he pulled out three palm-sized glowing crystal orbs with different color patterns from his backpack. In the core of each orb lied a pitch-black rocky substance of unknown origin.

And suddenly a growling voice came out from the thick foliage. Unbeknownst to both of the adventurers, the predator also had a pair of large shining yellow cat-like eyes.

"Shhhh..." The demonic person abruptly stopped his activity and slowly readied a reverse crouched fighting stance.

Darius just gulped and slowly placed the orbs on the ground near him. Dark smoke-like substances then flowed out from all three of those orbs. Then the orbs were slowly levitating and then encircling the thief in an orbital manner.

"Frickin horseshit, how could even the horses not alerted!" He angrily muttered in a hushed voice while also slowly pulling his trusty survival knife.

Then the unknown predator suddenly prowled out from the bushes towards the innerly panicked thief.

    -||-

'This is it then. At least the Heart of the Wild is finally mine.' Thought a dark armored entity as he levitated himself towards a gigantic glowing yellow lotus flower that lied under another waterfall that lied much farther above the camp of his current subordinates.

Just as he was levitating above the narrow stream and prepared to come near it, a pair of glowing yellow cat-like eyes was appeared at the bushes.

Then a large cat-like beast with pitch-black fur like the starless night itself suddenly prowled towards him.

And it was met by an armored punch that sent it barrelling through the thick green foliage.

"Insolent beast." Muttered the armored being.

But this time, another pair of much bigger glowing yellow cat-like eyes was appeared behind the trees. And the larger black furred beast also suddenly prowled in front of him, causing a small tremor to the ground below.

Then it unleashed its predatory scream.

"Bring it." The armored entity dropped his levitation and innerly smirked. A large, cracked two-handed sword that held together by a dark magic was then materialized in his right palm. A smoke-like substance was also billowing out from that sword.

And in the response, the giant black beast jumped towards him.
  • @Fallen_Lord_Vulganos you gonna make a card for those beasts?

@MonkeyPirate2002 (Guess... possibly later when I can add some more cards. Unless if my character get kicked out lol.)

Once again the snake returns as you rest thinking of your recent victory. The snake crawls up your shoulder and yet again whispers into your ear.

"Three voices have been silenced tonight, 16 remains."

The invisible snake left your ear, crawled down and disappeared.
  • That would be “three voices HAVE been silenced”
  • edited September 2018
    Sorry...
    The snake likes her s'es.
With other words I just copied the earlier ones and forgot to change the text.
I shall commit Sudoku for the shame I have brought upon myself.

Anyone got a pen I can borrow?
  • Lol! I’m just a grammar nerd. (Thanks for correcting it)

    Eliminated

Maalus, Plague Warden has been silenced and sent home.
Corrupted Shadow has been silenced and sent home.
Anima of Thought has been silenced and sent home.

    image image image

    @Bigbadbooknerd, @WickedShadow196, @SacredAnima
You have all three sadly been eliminated this week. I hope you'll continue to have fun and feel free to continue following this journey if you would want to.

This week as well as last week 3 were eliminated. This might seem like an aggressive elimination but it is done to remove the "sleepers". That is players that have joined but not contributed any more cards than those initial 3.
This is most likely the last 3 player elimination as eliminations will begin to get slower from now on.

    Challenge 4 will begin soon.

@Jonteman93 If you've read Chapter IV of Kyoniq's story, you'll see that he's about to get some more info about the Tower, the Spark Serpent, etc. Are there certain things that you have planned about them or can I just say anything that fits with what you have written so far?
  • @ShaperKyon No I haven't gotten the time yet to read your story story.
There are some points I have planed for the tower, the man in the tower and the serpent. I could return to you later with some general known facts about them.
  • @Jonteman93 Alright. I just don't want my story to contradict what you have planned already.

Challenge #4 (Split Challenge) - Hold the gates/Through the breach

This challenge depends on your choice last challenge. If you picked A (A new ally) then you'll go with A here. If you went with B (Desired Blood) then you'll go with B here.
If you haven't chosen option for the first one. You can just pick one and follow on with this one.

Challenge A - Hold the gates
Your helped this person(s) in need against the necromancer and his/her attempt to his/her blood. But the danger is not over.
Regardless if the necromancer survived or not. He/she was but a piece in a larger operation and his overlords and/or companions have recognized you and the one you saved as threats that must be eliminated.
They have sent an army much greater than the zombie assault but you won't be able to fight this one on the field.
Your ally take you to a settlement were you are temporary safe but the army is approaching. Your friends have sent for reinforcement but they wont arrive until after the battle has begun.

You have to ensure your own and the survival of the settlement until the reinforcements arrive.

Challenge B - Through the breach
Isn't the taste of blood and victory sweet?
What is less sweet is to hear from the necromancer that those you just defeated have found an artifact that they can use to summon the serpent, the spark eater to your location.
You don't know if you can trust the necromancer's word but what if it is true?
You can't risk having your enemies summon this serpent.
You have to destroy them just in cause.
The location where they are said to hold the artifact is not more defended than you could deal with but they have sent for reinforcements that would make the mission an impossibility. You have to take the settlement before the reinforcement arrives.

Challange A: You have 20 life. Make sure you don't reach 0.
Challenge B: They have 20 life. Make sure it reaches 0.
    (Not technically, only metaphorically)

You are given from this challenge:
    * 1 higher maximum mana cost
    * 1 rare slot
    * 1 uncommon slot
    * 1 common slot

    Jonte's example of challenge A:
    image image image

  • @Jonteman93 Are we going to now be locked onto one of two paths based on whether we chose A New Ally or Desired Blood?
Also, if I post submissions for a challenge after the "snake message" has been given, will they still be counted or will it just be treated as if I had submitted nothing?
