I was recommended to this contest for this card, though it was originally for another (more of a set builder really), so we'll see if I make any more entries https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/young-crusader-1
The Winners! Honourable Mention #1 -Vanguards of Vallheim by @TenebrisNemo! Fits the feel of a viking set very well, and positively reeks of flavour - the calm defender turned brutal attacker. Also a very flavourful way of taking a mechanic rarely associated with Red (defender) and slotting it in perfectly to the feel of the colour.
Honourable Mention #2 - Tormenting Shadow by @Tomigon! Interesting take on the "Haunt" mechanic, definitely. Personally, however, I don't love the artwork, and the power level could be perhaps not be incredibly high (although that's not necessarily a problem).
Third Place - Riku, Seperated by @Faiths_Guide! Haha, very good take on a second version of Riku, while retaining the mirror image kind of feel with the second ability. I'm slightly biased against it because it wouldn't make a particularly good commander, unlike the first Riku, but that's just me - and the card could irritate some Riku of Two Reflections players.
Second Place - Beleaguered Bunny by @Faiths_Guide (again)! This is one of those cards I love, that work so incredibly well with the art, its hard to believe the art wasn't draw with the card itself in mind. I've always had a soft spot for "hunted" cards, and this seems like a very balanced, realistic, and yet also creative take on the mechanic - with the two creature types, normally disassociated with each other, slotting together perfectly. NGL, this was very close to being first place.
First Place - Angelic Neonate by @TheCenterOfTheUniverse! An original, balanced take on two interesting mechanics - the "can't cast during first, second ect. turns of the game" and the Resolute Archangel mechanic. I can just imagine chaining together a ton of Probes, Steet Wraiths and Gut Shots, or coming victim to burn spells, and then dropping this. A deserved first place!
Comments
Sorry, only one drop creatures are allowed for this contest, so that last entry doesn't count
Edit: second last entry now ^^
Huh. Turns out I only have 1 one-drop creature currently created. I may make some more for this, though.

@KJMartin - Do we choose the cards for you to favorite?
Yea, sure.
