The Book of Mormon Y’all

I’m trying to create a Book of Mormon set… and it’s tough. I’ve decided each verse needs a card. I’ve done most of Mosiah, but currently I’m in Alma 1:15. If you want to help, your challenge is to pick work ahead of me. Each card has to have flavor text of a direct quote from the verse you pick. Nephites are Barbarians red. Lamanites are Warriors blue. New type of Heretic, Lawyer and Judge. Jaredite are FuSang, Polynesian or Tibetan (Book of Ether was Ninjas). If you want a challenge and want to help, I’m thinking I have 4/5 more work to do. On my own, another 8 years.

  • I made that one for counterspell hate contest, but it is the last card I’ve made for the Book of Mormon set. The scripture Alma 1:14 isn’t all on the card, this means Alma 1:14 could have another card made for it, to represent the bits not written here. I think the art direction will start with barbarian and close at the end of Alma more Roman / Viking.
  • Do you know if there are any other LDS players on here?  I am, and I'm fairly confident you are.  If you know of any others, might be a good idea to tag them in a comment.
  • Here's my idea for an Alma 1:32 card:

    Card Name: Priesthood Corruption

Card Type: Heretic/Lawyer (or Judge, depending on how you want to categorize this specific action)

Flavor Text: "And thus they were compelled to pay tithes for the support of the king, and priests, and teachers, after the order of Nehor."

Card Abilities/Description Idea: This card would represent the systemic corruption that began to take root, where religious positions were used for monetary gain and power, diverting resources from the people. It could depict a scene of people reluctantly paying tribute to a lavishly dressed priest or judge.

I love the new type! I'm impressed. I wanted to see how well you did against the context and you nailed it. I'm going to have you go again. Let's do Alma 2:1. Show me what you've got.

  • I know this is dealing with scriptures, I’ve wrestled with that and thought if each card has a direct quote then they can be used in study. So basic lands won’t have a direct quote and reference but all other cards will. I know it could be interesting to make unique flavor text but for this challenge direct quotes would need to be the flavor text with the book and verse referenced. So, Alma 1:32 actually says “For those who did not belong to their church did indulge themselves in sorceries, and in idolatry or idleness, and in babblings, and in envyings and strife; wearing costly apparel; being lifted up in the pride of their own eyes; persecuting, lying, thieving, robbing, committing whoredoms, and murdering, and all manner of wickedness; nevertheless, the law was put in force upon all those who did transgress it, inasmuch as it was possible.”. -Alma 1:32 .

I like the energy and I should have made that clearer for the rules.
