    on its own it's pretty well balanced and kind harmless, but when you start thinking like an actual MTG player: NEVER, that would essentially become one of the most broken cards in an experienced player's hands, the fact that it's black doesn't even help either. For instance in my graveyard mill, that would probably be an OP card to have (don't have a counter to someone's move in your library, get it in there with this card.)

    hope this helps

  • @Credius
    Thanks, I had the feeling that it would be too powerful.

    I left a comment on your card page here with extensive details you might like.

    (It also has revisions to the wording of the first ability. Mainly to match existing examples!)

    --I know this can be easily exploited by giving the creature lifelink. Every card can be broken with a few others. That's just how a game like this works.

    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/soul-of-amonkhet-2
    --I tried to follow the Soul formula while also replicating Embalm. I'm just not sure if the cost/value ratio is right.

    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/agadeem-alchemist
    --The art doesn't match the setting very well. That's the problem with trying to make cards from established worlds. Again, I'm not sure if a team debuff on Rally is too powerful for the cost and body.

    Any feedback is much appreciated!

    Thoughts?
  • Im kinda making a set of cards outta boredom any comments on them would help :) https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/agatha-geist-caller-1?list=user
  • ok where to start... First of all, I know I am not the first to say this, but the entire wording of the text is wrong.

    "When Agatha, geist caller or any nontoken spirit creature enters the battlefield you may pay {1}{w/b}: if you do summon one 1/1 spirit creature token with flying."

    should be:

    "When Agatha, Geist Caller or any nontoken spirit creature enters the battlefield (you could insert 'under your control' here), you may pay 1w/b: Create a 1/1 (insert color) Spirit creature token with flying."

    Also...for it to be a legendary rare, it's kind of weak for its cost (the effect is expensive compared to many other token farmers, which usually don't even cost anything next to casting specific creatures for instance)
  • Ya i had it at a lower cos before but i felt like it would be too powerful with the other cards i made to combo with it thanks for the feedback dude
  • Thoughts?

    Both White and Black really like tapped creatures...

    In a "destroy that worthless permanent" sort of way. XD
  • @Faiths_Guide
    Feels a bit underwhelming design-wise.

    @modnation675
    Fair. It was a counter to another card and just does exactly what white/black would do.
  • Here's a much more interesting/witty design:

    I'm rather curious wether or not this is balanced or crazy extreme.

    @TenebrisNemo

    Like the artifact a lot, working with the double/half damage is kind of unique and haven't seen that before. Really makes you think, but you got inspired by a broken card? lol.

    As for the Tengu: it's indeed unpredictable xD

    @Faiths_Guide

    The portcullis, I like it since it is like my entry in that contest: very conditional, but worth it nonetheless.

    The hellkite's more or less standard MTG material (could be coming right out of origins imho), but that land destroy effect is a real pain in ze butt to deal with, neat.

    @Djayhero

    I'm sorry dude, but it's the way around, that one is extremely overpowered.

    for a cmc of 5, you get 3xRise from the grave and a 3/5 with vigilance and flying, there's also nothing in there that credits the red or white mana (except maybe the vigilance mechanic), formatting also needs work, but I reckon you're rather new at this, so in regards to formatting of cards I'd say ask people like Modnation 675 or TenebrisNemo, etc who usually have nicely balanced/formatted cards.

    In the end, don't worry, you'll get the feeling/touch for the cards and appropriate balancing after watching around through a few cards from the aforementioned people. I suggest checking some of the recent contests as well, might clear things up for you like it did for me.

    @Credius
    That seems pretty broken. Compare it to Force of Will (which is already pretty broken) the first time you counter a spell you are down one more card than you would be casting force, but you get the option to repeat the effect as much as you want. Plus it discards the card instead of exiling which allows you to use graveyard shenanigans.

    Only way i could see to balance that would be to give it an activation cost, if you keep the card draw effect as well i would probably increase the cmc of the enchantment.

    @TenebrisNemo
    I have two problems with the Tengu, first it seem very weak paying 4 mana to basically make it unblockable is really expensive especially when the creature is only a 4/4.

    I'm also pretty sure the first ability wouldn't work based on the rules of magic. When you activated the blink it would be exiled then it would return to the battlefield but it would be a different creature than it was before so it technically wouldn't have attacked anyone that turn and would have no targets.
  • Thanks for feedback @Credius!

    I have to agree with @serpentail for the most part regarding your enchantment. The ability to counter for "free" should never be a possibility. I mean, you could just run a ton of red madness cards and you'd be doing yourself a favor by discarding while simultaneously countering everything.
  • edited October 2017
    @serpentail - I thought as well that the 1st ability wouldn't work, but I may remake the card and fix it. As for the unblockable part, I took example from Elusive Tormentor which is also a 4 cmc 4/4 with unblockable abilities which cost 4 mana and a card discard in total.
  • @TenebrisNemo
    Tengu is actually pretty good IMO. First ability should work fine as well.
    In addition to being "unblockable", he can also dodge combat tricks and untap himself in the process.
  • edited October 2017
    @credius what if i were to add 2 mana to the cost and reduce the creatures you can target to 2??

  • @Lord-Wolffe-III, be careful about -1/-1 counters and dealing damage with white cards, as they are not part of it's color identity. Otherwise, good tribal Angel commander!

    @Gelectrode
    Interesting in possible combos. But otherwise, it feels too limited. (That and it has extra room!)

    Could use a keyword that synergizes with the activated ability... or perhaps haste to make it reliable in combo decks. (Personally, I'd consider haste and/or menace.)
