  • So the base idea my brother and I have come up with so far for Gareth and the Lost is his brother (Judiel) disappeared when he was a kid, and he spends his life looking for him, eventually returning to the last place he saw him and finding a tear in the fabric of space. He goes through it, passing through the blind eternities and this terrible void of nothingness until he eventually finds this utopia where his brother is, and they set out to find others lost between the worlds and bring them to their haven. We'll keep thinking for some more specific details but that's what we have so far. We also need to come up with backstories or explanations on who and what the Saints are and some of the others but we'll get there.

The dark is a scary place. When the sun sets, and the moon is obscured, all sorts of unsavory beasts, fiends, and humans come out to roam. It's enough to ignite fear in the bravest of warriors, and is where the secrets of evil lurk, hidden from the watchful eyes of the light.

But we say no more. We will no longer allow the world to be held under the tyrannical grasp of the shadows of fear and paranoia. We will light the world for all to see. No longer will night fall. With the light of our lanterns, it will remain in a state of dusk for all to be comforted and reminded that they are safe under our protection. We are the House of Dusk.

    And introducing our esteemed leader!

    image

A distant descendant of the royal family, Aishel leads the House of Dusk and has founded our current philosophy, believing no one should ever not know what lies ahead.

But what is a leader without followers? The House of Dusk has recruited many to our cause, lured by the sweet promise of bringing safety to their family and community.

    image

But we cannot light the way for others without first being able to see for ourselves. We of the House of Dusk are unable to use magic ourselves, and we must enlist the aid of spirits that provide us the light we need to defend our homes, which are more than happy to comply by resting in our lamps.

    imageimage

And now, we have come to grant the land of Krystel the same blessing we have given ours: A world where the lights never go out, and though the sun sets, the night never falls. We are the House of Dusk, and we will save this world.
  • @Lujikul Light is greater than darkness, but both are needed for people to not get really annoyed with you.
  • Can I book a place? Have been working on some cards for this.

You can buy mana from my shop.
    (NOT AN ENTRY)
  • History of the Sages, Krasite:

Krasite is the plane that the Sages and multiple other factions reside on. The plane is not completely one world, but not a whole universe, it is a large world with a large galaxy above it. This galaxy is different because no other planets are in it other than the world lived on by the sages. The space beyond the planet in Krasite is filled with mana, a few deities live in it, but they are also a part of it.

To learn the history of the Sages, you must also know about the other inhabitants of Krasite. Including than the Sages, there are 4 factions on the plane, right now, they will be listed as their original colors:

The Onovern Driftmages: Originally a faction of Merfolk and Hydromancers located in the eastern, southeastern, southwestern, and western oceans and seas of the world. Original Colors: Blue and Green

The Sartori Dominion: Originally a faction of warmongers and bloodthirsty warrior located on the northen continent of Chalir. Original Colors: Red and Black

The Notion of Discovery: Human and Elven scientists somewhat similar to the Simic, they are cruel and believe they are entitled to any information they want, they inhabit the middle of the plane. Original Colors: Black, Blue, Green

and The Sages of Evren Skies: Magical beings gifted powerful abilities and forms by the magic from the heavens. They inhabit the southern continent of Evren. Original Colors: Blue and White.

There are 5 continents on Krasite. Chalir, a large continent in the north, controlled by The Sartori Dominion.

Narfoba, Driemir, and Marlira are smaller island continents, some of the coasts are controlled by the Onovern Driftmages but are largely controlled and inhabited by Notion scientists, wizards and warrior. Driemir is mainly used to house Notion civilians but has multiple research stations located around it.

Evren is the largest continent and is located in the south, the Sages live there and use the clear skies, high mountains and overall natural feel of the land to further their worship, studies, and their power.

The oceans and seas in the northern area are barren and uninhabited, the eastern, southeastern, southwestern, and western oceans and seas are inhabited by the hydromancers and merfolk, though some water off the coasts of the island continents are controlled by the Notion of Discovery.
  • @Lujikul

Well, you are a resilient one! Best of luck this season!

    @Mantis17

No, sorry, I don't decide who I am actually going to invite to the contest until the last minute. Anyone is game, and if you want to get in, just post your cards.
  • @pjbear2005

Cool! I might want to hear more about that notion of discovery faction later... (he he he)
  • @KorandAngels

That's an infinite mana source. Activate the first ability ten times in a row with the mana you receive, and you can cast anything you want.
  • @HeroKP Thanks for telling me.
The card isn't meant to have an effect.
  • @HeroKP You'll hear about them plenty over the many years of Krasite. They were involved in some... sketchy parts of the history of the plane.
  • @HeroKP As much as I don't want to, I may have to drop out. It will depend on how things go for me in the next couple days or so. If I do, then I will say so.
  • The History of the Sages of Evren Skies 101:

The name 'Sages of Evren Skies" is derived from multiple things. They are known as sages over wizards because of their natural connection to their power. Wizards learn their powers while sages derive their power from a natural connection.

The name Evren comes from the name of the area the sages reside one their plane. Evren is a large continent on the south portion of the plane Krasite. The continent had the clearest and best view of the sky and of space since the plane was created.

The part about the skies is the most obvious part, as they get their power from their connection with the space beyond the world.

The skies are a big part of the sages culture as they believe that everything with power was blessed upon the world by 4 deities of great power from the heavens above the world. Technically, there were 5 deities, but one was banished onto the world, stripped of it's power.

The first couple hundreds of years of the this course are specifically focused on the Sages as they had no serious contact with any other factions. After that, relations start to build up around the plane and more things start to happen.
  • I will continue to open shops.

    Shop 2:
    image
No shops are intended to affect the game, unless I say that they are an entry for a challenge.
  • Is there still time to get in on this? It sounds awesome!
  • @Red_Tower, yes, there is time!
  • Awesome, I'll likely be posting tomorrow evening.
  • edited May 2019
Ugh, I kind of don't have time for this again so I must not participate, reeeeeee
  • @HeroKP consider me in! Just a question:

Would a giant "Hivemind" that consists of the entire Empire's collective conscience technically count as Aristocratic?
  • @Potato13 I'm not sure, but based off of some off the "aristocrats" people are getting away with, it's probably fine.

Please welcome the Empire of Pravor. Kasselie is the appointed leader of the colonization efforts and daughter to Emperor Grith who founded the empire. Accompanying her is her childhood friend turned rival Aerona. They each head one of the two major factions within the Empire: the loyalists with their military might and royal authority, and the clandestine shadow forces with their slave trade and covert operations.
The Pravor's greatest strength is their unique blend of necromancy and lithomancy they have dubbed carbomancy. They have a sort of Persian-esque approach to conquest, albeit not quite so liberating and democratic. They first seek to avoid major casualties, especially to civilian populations, using their earth-shaping magic to dismantle fortifications and weapons. If diplomacy fails at this point, they unleash the full force of the undead legion, the Immortals being among their most impressive units.

    Set containing cards for this:

EDIT: Side note, I forgot to mention that the mana priority is white/black, with green as a secondary color, typically.

That's the basic gist of it, let me know if there are any problems or anything that doesn't fit/work well for this whole thing.
  • @Red_Tower No, that's perfect actually
  • @Potato13

    Yeah, that should work

  • I kind of like letting the cards speak for themselves, but I do have a bit of a backstory in mind if you preferred I posted it.
  • @KorandAngels I have a hard time discerning where the line between helpful and nitpicking lies, and it's not a big deal, but for future reference, it should be this "ability costs more to activate," not more to cast.
  • @Derain2

    Yes, please post that!

House Elta has long held a distinguished position within the Kingdom of Tevia. It is the oldest house, respected not only by their fellow nobles but also with the common folk at large. Since time immemorial house Elta possessed special dispensation from the crown to practice blood magic. In the hands of the weak willed and selfish, it is highly corruptive. Criminals often use the blood of the poor and defenseless to perform their foul rituals, but House Elta will only spill the blood their own blood to invoke such magic. They use it to guide the kingdom out of famine, to heal the sick, and at times, to plague the unjust. This magic originates from ancient gods best left forgotten. Indeed, most of the world has, and House Elta intends to keep it that way, by personally paying the toll for their silence, and leaving the rest of the world in the dark.

In recent years the Kingdom of Tevia has fallen into madness. In intractable war of succession has plagued the kingdom for seven years. For each claimant defeated three more rise in their place. Madness, greed and ambition have turned Tevia into a smoldering heap of its former glory. Lady Elta has taken it upon her to escort all refuges who flee this madness to a new world, where men and woman can live by their honest labor, free from the madness that has consumed their once beloved home.
  • I will probably add my three bonus cards in the next couple of days.
