  • ( @Scott_Anderson - No need to post cards again, I got 'em on my list.

The winner is determined by many factors. Some of them are; power/toughness, abilities, balance, costs, strengths, weaknesses, signature cards, rock-paper-scissors, and character influence. )

    [ "rock-paper-scissors" - a great inclusion! ]
  • Then I will defer now to @kingwatherton
  • ( @Faths_Guide - Now, don't imagine me sitting here playing rock-paper-scissors with myself! xD )
  • [ Wouldn't dream of it ;) ]
  • Your winner by way of Roshambo....
Imagine Michael Buffer announcing this like a boxing match.

This storypart is a bit longer, hope its not too much, enjoy!

Looking ahead they could see a cave in the hillside. This could very well be the cave they were looking for. Ronnie hoped so, the last one they entered they got chased out by a bunch of rabid cavebears. “Good thing we sent you in first eh.” Had been the captains response. Ronnie looked a bit sour, he thought he was past all this and a full member of the team now. “Don’t look so glum.” The captain said to him. “I only sent you in first because I know that you will get back alive. Anyone else might’ve been torn to shreds.” A small smile began to form on Ronnie’s mouth. “I believe in you Ronnie.” The captain looked ahead at the new cave. “Well, you know what they say, fifth times the charm. Go ahead Ronnie, scout out the cave for us.” Feeling a bit better with the captains words still fresh in his mind he went ahead.
This cave smelled different than the others. The smell of burned pork lingered in the air. As he turned the corner, there he sat, at least 20 feet high even in seating position. That must be the one we’re after Ronnie thought and he traced back his steps as silently as possible. Luckily the giant was pre-occupied cooking something over a fire didn’t notice Ronnie’s presence. Back outside they formulated a plan. “This has got to be one of the biggest giant, or monster, we are going to face.” Ronnie said. “Not to worry, not much changes with his size, this is still routine monsterslaying.” The captain said. “We have done this many times and will continue to do so. Now, here’s the plan…”

Halfway through the plan, something went wrong. The giant had been more intelligent than they had anticipated. He evaded the pitfall and snatched Mason, everyones eyes widened as the giant ripped him in half. It was then that everything started to fall apart. A couple men deserted, one charged in anger but got crushed underfoot. Now only six of them remained. “Regroup!” The captain shouted. As they were running. “Follow me.” Ronnie shouted, as he ran back the way they came. During the chase another soldier got snatched up by the giant and flung hard to the ground. Ronnie heard bones crack but didn’t look behind, he just kept running. Almost there. He picked up some rocks and threw them in the passing caves. An annoyed roar was followed by the charging of three huge rabid bears. They saw the giant and flung themselves at him. “Good thinking Ronnie.” The captain shouted. “Encircle him with the chains!” While the giant was fighting off the bears, which were for him no bigger than dogs, Peter and Serge managed to chain one of his legs around a nearby tree.
As the last bear met his demise, the Captain, Ronnie and two others charged in. Each flanking the giant as to divide his attention. Giants and cyclopes both had a hard time with this tactic, not knowing where to hit first. This was different though. The giant recognized the weak party members first and in an instant Ronnie’s companion was flattened by a huge fist. “NO!” Ronnie yelled out as he furiously let loose a couple of sword strikes on the giants still closed fist. The captain wasted no time seeing the giant was distracted by this and dug his sword deep into one of the fresh wounds made by the bears on the giants legs. A loud roar followed and finally the giant spoke. “Puny human, this will become your grave!” The giant kicked at the captain, but he had already moved gracefully to his other side and slashed at his other leg. Another roar as he tried to hit the captain, but the captain had ducked out of reach behind a boulder.
Seeing his chance, Ronnie charged in at the giant’s back. But right before he could strike, the behemoth turned around and grabbed him. Furiously stabbing at his hand did nothing but tighten the giant’s grip, almost squeezing him unconscious. This is it Ronnie thought, the end of the line. The giant spoke again: “Come out captain, unless you want to lose another of your precious soldiers.” Vincent tried to formulate a plan, but couldn’t think of anything. So he just jumped up from behind the boulder and in a whirlwind cut off the pinky toe of the giant. He screamed and lost his grip on Ronnie. “The iron guard doesn’t negotiate with monsters.” The captain said. In a fury the giant charged at the captain.

Coming to his senses Ronnie was soaked as he was dropped in a nearby river. The captain had saved his life. Again. As he got up he saw the captain still fighting that monstrous giant. He was breathing heavy. He had to go and help him in some way, he couldn’t keep this up. Still somewhat dazed Ronnie walked towards the fight. The giant saw him and turned around, ready to pulverize him. “Get out the way!” He heard a familiar voice shout. Looking up the sun was blocked, but by what? Suddenly he got pushed hard, and then a deep rumble as the earth shook around him. Looking up he wondered what happened. Red. A pool of blood creeping towards him. Ronnie’s jaw slacked, horrified, the lifeless body of his captain before him. “Weaklings shouldn’t fight.” He heard the giant scowl. Ronnie got enraged, at the giant, but mostly at himself. He looked at the giant, his eyes filling with tears of fury and regret. “This is the result, weakness is a sin.” The giant sneered as readied another strike. This time when Ronnie looked up at the giant, Ronnie saw a strange glimmer. A thread of some sort, almost invisible, like a fishing line. As the giant lunged forward, Ronnie tried to pull on this thread that seemed to be connected to one of the giants wounds, inflicted by the captain.
Suddenly blood gushed from the wound and his Achilles tore, bringing the giant to his knees. The giant let out a loud roar. Ronnie firmly gripped his sword and ran towards to the giant.
Not wanting to let this chance go to waste. A big fist swung his way, but Ronnie pulled on a nearby string that was seemingly attached to the sky and with little delay a big bird dropping hit the giant right in the eyes, blinding him, making him miss his swing. Almost face to face with the giant now, he readied his sword. The giant was still on his knees unable to right himself leaning over on one hand. As the giant parted his lips, probably to beg for his life, Ronnie slashed at his throat. An eruption of blood spilled over him and the giant fell down, silent. The three remaining soldiers came out of hiding and ran towards him. But Ronnie paid no attention to them, he was still in shock by what had happened to his captain. And what were these strange threads,
Ronnie hung his head in grief…

    POOF! The prophecy has disappeared.
  • ( @barchae - Well written!

@AxNoodle - Yeah, the deadline was passed a while ago. But your champion seems interesting! Perhaps we'll see him/her in the next tournament. )

    POOF! The prophecy has disappeared.
  • @TenebrisNemo thanks! I hope you and others enjoy my scribbling :) I'll write one more part where he gets back to the tournament for the second round.
  • Sunex, the Scrounger and Signature Equipment (and story card)

The match had left Sunex with a new wealth of possibility. As well as some room for a promotion at home with the higher ups (finally). When they came calling, they had good news, and bad news. He was being promoted to raid leader, a position that called for an upgrade of his current form, but one that put him in considerable danger.

The ritual was lead by an elder demon and infused him with many souls, mutating and warping his flesh into a new and more powerful form, one that was better suited to dealing with his new position.

Sunex began to forge an obelisk to commemorate his victory. He found it to be useful in the occasional raid.

  • @Bobman111 should I write the battle?
  • On their way back to the capital they were greeted by an envoy from the mayor. “We received the good news and came here to escort you back to the capital.” The envoy was a pompous looking man, sweat ran down his face and some buttons on his shirt looked dangerously explosive. “The mayor is expecting you.” He continued and waved at his escorts. The escorts guided Ronnie to the carriage. Turning to the other soldiers: “Sorry, only room for one on the carriage, you lot will have to walk back.” And he joined Ronnie in the carriage.

“Bravo! Well done young lad.” The mayor almost shouted. “We are glad to have some competent soldiers in our regimen. The Iron Guard is to be commended.” Ronnie looked a bit sullen. “Have you not read the full report that we sent you sir?” Ronnie asked. “Our captain...” The mayor waved dismissively
“It can’t be helped, these things happen. If he were more capable he would be standing here with us.” Ronnie bit his lip and fought hard not to get angry, suppress his emotions. “But mayor, it was I-“
“More importantly we need you back at Eternstor to represent us in the arena.” The mayor interrupted. “I heard you passed the first round, we must not waste time, I’ll send for you the fastest horse.” Ronnie tried to counter but the mayor had already waved at his guards and turned his attention elsewhere.

On his way back to the tournament Ronnie cursed a little that he couldn’t visit his mother, his mind was so pre-occupied and everything had happened so fast. He’ll try and see if he can visit her after his next round. By then she should be back at her home in Slowshire. For now he must take all his anger, grief, pain and sorrow and fold it into a small ball and stuff it down for later. For now he had to focus on surviving his next round…
  • @shadow123 yes that would be extremely helpful, as I don't have a lot of time currently to write and such.

    And the training begun.

Sylva sprinted at Nya with her hammer and dagger. Nya closed her eyes. Sylva was about ten feet away from her when a vine burst from the ground and tripped her. Sylva lost grip of her hammer. She struggled to rip the vines with her dagger. More just kept coming. Nya used a vine to lift her into the sky now. Sylva wasn’t only a Warrior. She had a power, something she didn’t know about. The vines just burst from her body, it surprised her. Nya descended with her staff on the pile of writhing vines.

“Looks like your plan failed,” Sylva laughed.

Sylva charged at Nya with her dagger aiming to finish the fight. Sylva easily ripped the vines coming at her and swung at Nya’s head.

    *Crack*

Sylva’s dagger got stuck in a hard shell of vines. Sylva couldn’t pull it out. Nya had to concentrate. Vines erupted from the ground squeezing Sylva while keeping Nya safe in her shell. Sylva quickly broke the vine and ran. Nya focused all her energy into one vine. It grew large spikes and it swung at Sylva. The vine clobbered Sylva on the head and she was knocked out. Then, Nya saw something, a light and heard a voice. She lost concentration and she collapsed as well. Tai healed both of them and she got ready to challenge Nya.

@shadow123 Wait a minute, Just let me get this straight. Sylva's magic knife that was found in a tomb by her old mentor and trusted friend Gren that she also has tinkered with and customized it to be perfect in her eyes just shattered on some vines? That thing was a century or two old! It is kinda irreplaceable just so you know. Sorry if this sounds aggressive but I'm a little ticked off that her knife that is riddled with story and history can just break just like that.
  • @pakashara we can change it so it like flew out of her hand or something
  • Nya heard a voice. She opened her eyes and saw something she never expected to see. Her mother. A large dryad, her arms covered in crystals.

"Hello my sweet." She said with the lightest of voices.

"Mother?" Said Nya with a mixture of joy and confusion "am I dead?"

"Of course not, I just wanted to talk to you," Said Mat'selesnya with a chuckle. She kneeled down and looked Nya in the eyes. "You don't need to win this, there is no one you need to impress, no one you need to appease. It's okay."

Nya stood in silence for a bit. Then she spoke. "I do. I might not need to in your eyes, but in mine, I must, not just for our people, but for myself, to prove to myself that I can do this. I'm sorry." She looked up to her mother. She looked at Nya and smiled.

"It's okay, if that's what you need to do then so be it." She opened her arms and embraced her daughter. "I love you, but now it is time to return to your friends."

"Ok, goodbye mother. When will I see you again?" But by the time she finished her sentence her mother was gone. She then opened her eyes and was greeted by Tai.

    "My turn!"

(Ignore the fact that up until now I thought Mat'selesnya was a man.)

@pakashra I will make the dagger get knocked out of Sylva’s hands instead. Sorry.
  • I fixed my story segment.
  • @pakashra I’ll check with you next time.

That'll do. Sorry if it was a little aggressive sounding. I just really like her knife.
  • Nya quickly swung her staff at Tai. Tai decided to trick the Warrior. She let the staff hit her. Nya laughed. She opened her eyes wide and readied to channel a spell. Tai seized the moment. She grabbed her flute and stuffed yellow, red, and black powder in it. There was a big flash directed at Nya’s wide eyes. Nya couldn’t see Tai’s dark shape anymore. Tai snuck up behind Nya and slammed her with the side of her flute. Nya fell to the ground yet again.
  • It appears that the plane of estanor has fallen quiet for the time being.
