@stormbreath very cool! Its ability is both interesting and powerful. If I were to nitpick I think I’d shorten the text to “Whenever this creature attacks alone, it gains +3/+2 and must be blocked this turn if able.” Also samurai should be capitalized.

     Here’s mine:

I admit this card is geared more toward flavor, and I’m skeptical on how viable it actually would be in play. Any input is appreciated.

    Here’s another:

Is posting two cards at once still okay? If not I can delete one later.
I made this one with the intent of creating a balanced one-mana aggro creature with 3 power. I think I did a good job, but again, I’d appreciate any input.

    @Globert-the-Martian
I like Festering Slag, but the downside of random discard during landfall doesn't seem enough of a downside to justify a 3/2 creature for 1CMC/MV.  Not sure, because you might be fine like it is.  Maybe this: consider making him a 3/3, but then doing a "duress" effect during landfall instead? Like: "Landfall -- Reveal your hand to target opponent. They choose a noncreature, nonland card from your hand. Discard that card."  Just a thought.

Here's mine for you guys to review.  I couldn't do it here in MTGCardsmith because there's too much rules text.  But, that's why I'm posting it here.  I'm hoping one of you mastersmiths can help me re-word it.

@TerryTags I think the card has too many drawbacks for what it does, 5 mana 4/4 flying is fine but the ability is way too slow and cost too much for what it does.  If I'm reading this correct in order to destroy all 1 mana artifacts your opponent's control when this creature hits the battlefield will cost you 5 mana for the creature, 2 mana for upkeep#1, 3 turns for it to naturally die from not paying upkeep#2 and you can't hit an opponent with it. By upkeep#2 you've already sunk 11 mana and it still has not done anything but block.  Dunno about this guy.
Why not remove all the drawbacks and make it cumulative upkeep - Place a rust counter on Korod and then when it dies blow up all artifacts opponents control with less than or equal mana to the rust counters.  This turns it into a time bomb, less counters everywhere and opponents will have to wait until it blows up before playing artifacts.

  • @Sweda aside from a few grammar errors on the card(comma after "kicked", that sort of stuff), looks really nice. I like how he works kind of like a repeatable burn spell with a body attached. I can see him being a huge pain to deal with, especially if you run multiple copies.

    @stormbreath
I like the card. don't see anything wrong with it other than a few capitalization errors.

    my cards:
    Rango Kobold Gunslinger
(this card is red even though it has a zero mana cost. I didn't know how to put the little red circle thing like there is on other 0 cost but still colored cards.)
    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/rango-kobold-gunslinger

    Reckless Maneuver
    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/reckless-maneuver
  • @WarriorCatInAhat I don't think mtgcs has those little circles currently. I believe another way to say that it's red is to say "Rango is red."
  • ah okay
I think ill just leave it this way though, because I don't have premium
  • @WarriorCatInAhat, I really like Rango, It's nice to have another Kobold creature, and I would definingly partner Rango with Rograkh.

Reckless Maneuver is a good card, but I'm pretty sure haste and first strike wouldn't be capitalized. The same is true with haste for Rango.

    Here's my card:

  • @Zaheer_The_Grim really nice control card! You did nice work making a ramp card in Orzhov that makes since. The second ability at first glance seems too powerful, but Gold tokens are rare to come by outside of this card, and sometimes your opponents won't mind the drawback of sacrificing a creature or losing 1 life, so I suppose it's not op. This would be fun to build a commander deck around! I really like this card, I'll drop a favorite!

  • @CS101
I like the card. I think the last ability would be worded "this ability can trigger only once each turn."
the art is also from an existing mtg card, but you probably don't care about that. just thought I'd point it out.

I don't know why I made this, but it's too late to go back now.
  • I cannot complain with any of this, since it is an incredibly funny UN card. My favourite part is the creature type. Hilarious!!!!

    This is my card:
    Gader Gold-Braided
  • @TheDukeOfPork this card can go completely nuts in token themes. I really like the concept, but considering that it gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control, I think its activated ability being free to make a Gold is op. If it were up to me, I think I'd make it cost 1 to activate the ability, then it would feel more balanced. That's just me though, otherwise I really like it. I enjoy seeing ramp in orzhov that just makes sense.

  • @TheDukeOfPork
I'm looking at your Gader, Gold-Braided and all I can hear in my head is the song "SHINY" from Disney's Moana.  lol
  • @CS101 this seems well constructed..but all the same strong with 6 toughness. It seems like a pain to kill in combat. Nonetheless, the mana cost is not bad, and so long as it's not out there on turn 4, I feel like most decks will have a chance against this. One side note that I like, I like the benefits of the poison counters/ -1 counters, but I'm not understanding where the green comes from?

Here's my really bad card for a really awesome movie
    Joy Ride

  • @jpastor I don't think the word They'll is correct there. Great concept though, I love that type of card.
    Next:

    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/chaos-frog
  • @KorandAngels unique concept. I like the idea behind this; this would've been an interesting addition to the Ixalan sets. The fact it has ascend is really only what makes it playable outside of Ixalan, but nonetheless this would be very useful against other ascend decks.

Here's my card. It's not from cardsmith so it'll just be an image.

@CS101 I love investigate, and seeing a planeswalker based on it is really neat! I like the first two abilities, but I’m not really a fan of the third. At -10 it would likely never actually be able to activate, and in a lot of instances it probably wouldn’t be worth it. You would need a really investigate-based deck to pull the win condition off, and you would have to abstain from actually using the clues, so it would actually be more of a hindrance in my opinion. Maybe the third ability could be something more akin to Tamiyo’s Journal, and allow you to tutor up multiple cards from your library? I hope that helps.

Here’s mine, which is essentially a green burn spell:

I personally like it’s effect, but I’m wondering if it’s intuitive enough. I’m also not sure about the CMC. Any thoughts?

  • @Globert-the-Martian thanks for the feedback! I was thinking something similar, I ultimately was satisfied with the emblem but was still thinking some sort of tutor effect similar to the journal, like what you said, would be more fitting.

@Globert-the-Martian, I suppose I'll critique your card since this thread seems to have died.

Unleash the Swarm is an interesting concept. I think this can definitely be great for green removal. Ideally, with Unleash the Swarm, you'd want to have something that is buffing your creatures. I think this card could be an uncommon, and possibly cost four, given that there are plenty of ways for green to buff creatures; and having flying creatures in green is pretty rare. It's a very interesting card and a cool concept for green removal.

  • @CS101 I like this one. I’m trying to find something to critique it on, but I keep coming up on blanks. I’d imagine it would be fun to play. Nice job!

Great card, @Globert-the-Martian! I can't find anything I'd change about this card, it's really well done and I like the concept of it. I'll give it a favorite!

@Zaheer_The_Grim, looks fine and nice flavor. I can see some redundancy with just saving the treasure to activate the ability again. Or maybe whenever he connects you get a treasure token. Not the same flavor, but still something to consider.

    Thoughts?

  • @Temurzoa, Imagine the price this card would have been when awaken was in standard.

However, it is a very cool way to create a gold land. I like it a lot, and I like the artwork. Drop it turn 1, you can still activate turn two, but can't get gold mana until turn 3. So this works, but gets two +1/+1 counter as well. Hmmmm. I think it's the perfect balance.

By gold mana, I mean mana of any color.

Thoughts here? I'll give you a choice.. you can critique either one.

Critique whichever is easier for you to critique. Thanks

  • Would've I can't find anything to critique?
  • @jpastor I LOVE Horrorling. It makes perfect sense and is a card that would probably just be played in most black decks anyways, even if you're not playing with emerge. There are many synergies to go off of and the flavor of this card is fantastic. Excellent work!

  • @brcien, you have to post feedback about the previous card before you post yours.
  • Oh you right.

@CS101 The concept is compelling. Playing cards from exile is something everyone lowkey geeks out about, and this is a good value way to enable that. The color might be right, but it could be considered if further iterated upon. Playing things from exile feels red considering recent sets, and the ability is adjacent to milling so blue black makes sense, but it feels like a slant fit. I also like that it evokes a slow, methodical, but still chaotic approach in a surprising but mostly intuitive way.
Actively, I don't think this card needs ward, but that is attached to more paramount issue. Most of the time, they will be kill spelling it or bouncing it to hand, which would prevent you from casting their things. Fundamentally problematic is being able to cast all your opponent's exiled cards, not just cards exiled with CARDNAME's effect. Especially with how wordy the card it, I skimmed it and almost missed it didn't say "cards exiled with CARDNAME." You do have the important "face-up" line, but there are gameplay reasons we don't have stuff stealing from their generic exile pool. So you get to snatch their suspends? What if they are a red deck impulse drawing? That punishes them. This also promotes the player using it to exile as much as they can, which can be more feel bad than exciting. Like a deck built around this is probably loaded with Eldrazi Winter.  BUT if you do make it only cards exiled with itself, the ward seems trivial for the card space it takes up.
Summary: cool design but likely as confusing as fun in the current format.
  • @brcien I’d imagine this would be an extremely irritating card to play against, but I don’t see anything particularly wrong with it. Nice job!

@Globert-the-Martian, I think this card uses white and green really well for its ability, and I think its rather intriguing, very good card! Good flavor as well!
