  • @TrippleBoggey3 Nice card, only thing I found is that after the X, there has to be a comma, not a colon, because the paying with life is still part of the activation cost.
  • I don't really like the lose life thing on green, especially if it is ten life at once in the worst (or best?) case.

    What do you guys think? I basically made a double-sided, colorshifted Rubinia.

    @TrippleBoggey3 The card is nice, it can bee a bit too powerful though. Increase the mana cost 1 and it should be more balanced.
    The last ability may need a draw back because 1 mana can turn a 1/1 elf token into a 9/9 elf token.
  • Hi! First time posting, I wanted to know if this card is worded correctly. The idea is its removal that gets around Indestructibility, and sacrificing works with the theme of the set I'm trying to make. Also is it too overpowered? And is the card too unthematic for WR? Thanks. http://mtgcardsmith.com/preview?img=1471352520685470&t=431739
  • @BrysseKing, you have to publish the card first.

    @BrysseKing

    "Flying

    When Iris, the Lost enters the battlefield, target creature's controller sacrifices it. He or she puts a white 1/1 Poltergeist spirit token with "At the beginning of your upkeep, Poltergeist deals 1 damage to you" onto the battlefield."
  • I made these for the Lovecraft monsters contest, even though technically they aren't Lovecraft monsters. The person who made the contest said it was OK so I made them with Lovecraft art, to keep with the theme.

    They are based around screwing your opponents over and also being really hard to get rid of.

    I felt that Plague and Hunger should be the strongest for obvious reasons but what do you guys think?
  • @BrysseKing: Try this thread. (It could use the traffic.)
  • @TrippleBoggey3
    I like it. Lots of variety. Could you look at my 4? I really want to know others think. The're supposed to be really powerful by the way.
  • @DankSoulsRager, here are my opinions:

    -Hunger is pretty powerful, with a bit twisted on the color pie, but that's okay. The thing that makes it not op is that with a CMC of 8, chances are it will not be featured in limited, legacy, vintage, or modern tournament, since those "search library" cards are better with Emrakul. It can be in limited, because an 8 CMC hard cast is a lot. Therefore, as this card might only exist in casual (maybe standard), and though it looks good, it isn't all that powerful.

    -It is pretty much the same with all those cards. They aren't as powerful, and with cards at 8 CMC that still involve lands or triggered abilities... I mean come on man. By the time you reach 8 lands, no one cares about those triggered abilities anymore. It's late game, and either your opponent is losing or their creatures are too strong. 8CMC triggered abilities that are to weak for tutoring and placing on battlefield, but too expensive for hard casting is not powerful enough to be deemed worthy. It might be okay in limited or a standard set without super-tanks, but otherwise, I can't see these cards in tournament.

    As an advice to you, everyone, and also me (since I make the same mistakes), always look at your cards from a point of view of constructive gameplay.
  • But @TrippleBoggey3, they aren't real cards! Let me have fun with my fake cards that you should never use!
    I'm just kidding. On the contrary, I think they could be very powerful in a black ramp deck, like demons since they are expensive anyway. Throw Crypt Ghast or Magus of the Coffers in, maybe Caged Sun or Gauntlet of Might, and you could have one of these guys turn 6, if you are lucky.
  • Morph with artifacts? Why not?

    This is a card I just made using my Soul Fluctuation mechanic. I think it's really cool and I wish I had one of these to put into my life gain deck

    The only question I have about this card (based on Scroll Thief) is whether it should be common instead of uncommon:
    image
  • @MrRansom - I think this borders more on the rare side, if anything. Scroll Thief only allows one card based on a specific condition that an opponent has some sense of control over. This allows you to control the state of the life gain through multiple sources. It does have the downside of not choosing if you want to perform the action or not, which is why I would think this leans more toward rare and not mythic.

    @RohanDragoon Nice mechanic ... and VERY cool artwork!

    @MrRansom Yep, this would combo really well I think, alongside with lifelink or just life gain spells in combination with opportunities to exile this guy for a little while to really put some life on the stock again. It's basically a walking Greed.
  • @MrRansom, Lighning Oracle is a nice little card. In limited, I could say that it would be a bomb pick anyways because all you need is a few instant and Sorceries, and if not, even a small card to play would be nice. Although the latter is not too good, because I'd expect a play by turn 3.

    In Standard, this could easily be used in Aggro, and the chances of getting a good instant or sorcery would be highly likely. So, standard could work well too.

    In modern tournament, Aggro is less common, though it can still be used. By that time in Modern, Lightning Oracle is already too OP, as you have probably already seen those high mana instants that nobody plays. But lightning oracle + Aggro could make it give huge boosts, and lightning oracle + Astral Slide + High Mana Instants in Legacy could also work.

    In other words, I believe Lighning Oracle should only be allowed in Standard or Limited, but that is still my opinion. I've only been playing since Theros, so I don't know that much. I could be wrong.

    @TrippleBoggey3, the card works fine mechanically, I think. And it doesn't have wording errors either. So that's all good.

    Other than that, it has a minor templating error here:
    "Discard a card: Crabguard gets +0/+X until end of..."

    The word 'of' bleeds out of the text box. When making cards in the future, you could try previewing the design and checking for things like that. If you find some, just click the space before the word and hit ENTER to drop it down to the next line instead of letting exceed the perimeter of the text box.
  • This is another card I randomly saw: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/01011000-01011001?list=user

    Translation:
    Name = XY
    Mana Cost = It says {10}, but in Binary, {10} means {2}
    Subtype = Untranslateable
    +4 = Gain 1 life
    -3 = Gain 3 life
    -20 = Gain 100 life
    Loyalty = It says {10}, but in Binary, {10} means {2}

    I saw @Corwinnn confused on this card! xD
  • @Corwinnn was being funny.
    XD
