A burn spell like Lightning Strike ("...deals 3 damage to target creature or player") can only target a player. You may end up redirecting the damage, effectively using it on their planeswalker, but you still have to target your opponent.
@TrippleBoggey3 The technical answer is no. You still must target a player, then, during resolution, you may redirect damage to a planeswalker under that player's control.
306.7 - If noncombat damage would be dealt to a player by a source controlled by an opponent, that opponent may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker the first player controls instead. This is a redirection effect (see rule 614.9) and is subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects (see rule 616). The opponent chooses whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied.
I'm trying to work out this planeswalker, cause I absolutely love the art. My biggest problem is that I'm trying to balance him as a higher mana cost planeswalker. The only real planeswalkers with 7+ cmc are Karn, Ugin, Bolas, and Garruk (Apex Predator). I wanted to make a walker that didn't have instant removal, though, because I wanted something different. Ugin and Karn can both exile and Bolas and Garruk can both destroy. I just wanted to know what people thought about this guy as he is a 7 cmc walker who doesn't have targeted removal, just a whole bunch of benefits for a noncreature deck
Update: I do realize the second ability needs to say "exile them as they resolve" I hope that will fit when I remake him
Faiths_Guide, that is a pretty cool one, I like it. Do you think you could enhance the flavor of it by having the scarecrow be able to block flying creatures, or maybe by having defender? Probably that wouldn't fit in the text box though.
As a note - I more or less stopped playing MTG around the time Alliances or Mirage was released and was only recently lured back when I learned about formats like 'Old School 93/94 (and sometimes 95). So I'm back to messing around, but am still only familiar with the power level and mechanics of the game back then and don't know what's considered weak, strong, etc in the modern era.
@TrippleBoggey3 - An ongoing thread like this doesn't need to be changed... the concept is pretty basic, leave some feedback, post a card for feedback... the problem lies in the fact that most folks just post cards and don't leave any feedback... on... the... previous... card XD

Hey I was gonna find some evidence but I couldn't find any. Here, what does @Everyone think?

What exactly is the remaining question betwixt the two of you?

It's based partially on a Zonaria song.
In more ways than one.

I'm thinking that since the owner of this thread hasn't been here in a long while, we should take it to ourselves to change how this thread works.
I haven't made a proper card in a week!
