AUTHOR'S NOTE : Cards with roost usually have an ability that does something when they are roosted, like Roost G1, as long as this creature is roosted it has trample.

    Inevitable by ImBadAtBalancing
Inevitable [Cost] ([Cost], Exile this card from your hand: During your next turn, you may cast this card from exile without paying its mana cost and as though it had flash. Inevitable only as a sorcery.)

Is the mechanic Jujutsu a blink effect? If you use the mechanic does the target enter exile then come back?
  • @Beydin13
Jujutsu is not a blink effect cause you don't exile the creature, you simply remove it from combat, similar to how regenerate works. You just remove it from combat

I think Predation would be better worded as:

Predation [Cost] ([Cost], {t}: This creature deals damage equal to its power to target creature. Activate this ability only during your declare attackers step.)

Anyway, here's my entry. Glad to see Mechanix challenges finally coming back!

    Using @Faiths_Guide's mechanic Subvert!

    image
  • Sweet cards!
@connor2001- we always encourage creative ways to look at the mechanics and don't mark you down for making changes, as long as the feel of the mechanic is still there!
@Beydin13 - @RohanDragoon is right. It's just removed from combat. If it attacked, it remains tapped... but either way, it neither deals nor receives damage.
  • Moromai

A feel that this is possibly one of the most powerful things you can do with predation. Maybe a tad obvious, but simplicity isn't always bad.
  • @Connor2001 nice change!

@Corwinnn Connor2001's version is correct. Activated ability always has colon in its text.

Also Dissipate is worded as triggered ability as well.. If you want to make it activated, my suggestion is
Dissipate N - [Cost] ([Cost]: The next time this permanent would be put into a graveyard from the battlefield this turn, instead exile it, then it deals N damage to target creature or player.)

    Using the firebreathing mechanic,

    image
  • In hindsight that's a little broken...

Small Easter egg of Pokemon. When I saw the roost mechanic, I instantly though of this and how to incorporate it. Also the flavour...
    image

Wanted to make a card with shapeshifting properties and realised it wasn't a creature mechanic but a general one, found the amazing art, and poof...
    image

For a mechanic that does such a simple thing, you'd think it would have a low activation cost. I wanted to change that.

Not to be a grammar nazi, but I also think Inevitable could be worded differently to match suspend:

Inevitable [Cost] (Rather than cast this card from your hand, you may pay [Cost] and exile it. During your next turn, you may cast this card from exile without paying its mana cost and as though it had flash.)

    Here's my second entry:
