  • @shadow123 Oop. Sorry! I missed that line in the rules! I'll throw this in!
  • @Shadow123 Are we allowed to enter old cards? I've got one that I think would be perfect for this.
  • @Korand That was something that happened in the matching set to the PW deck (Kaladesh 2.0). So in my alternate multiverse (the diverging point is at the end of hou. Treat every standard set after it and its corresponding lore like it doesn't exist)…
  • @HeroKP You know, I just realized, why not just make hex counters -1/-1 counters? I feel like people would rather put -1/-1 counters on their opponents' creatures than "sometimes these creatures can't block" counters.
  • @ThePhantomJoker The mainframe template are my go-to for just about every custom card I create given they provide just about everything you'd need for any mechanical design (except for one mechanic I'm putting in a 2020 set but don't worry about it…
  • @Arceus8523 I feel like the step involving putting a counter on the creature is just unnecessary in that case. Maybe I'm overestimating the amount of setup it will take to "go off" with the deck, though.
  • @HeroKP Then I'd recommend a keyword based around "for each Witch you control" effects rather than doing it through hex counters.
  • @ThePhantomJoker Nah, that card's at CMC 4 and is legendary.
  • @ThePhantomJoker You can find them here http://magicseteditor.boards.net/thread/77/cajun-style-templates
  • @ThePhantomJoker Honestly, given that you're so interested in planeswalker decks, I'm surprised you did. Every planeswalker deck has the "if you control a [type] walker" card.
  • @HeroKP Then I suggest designing this more like a faction-based Ravnica sort of set. That allows you the space to design multicolored cards at common and really focus on the enemy pairings. I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by "reverse…
  • @ThePhantomJoker When I design a set, my goal is to explore an area Wizards either has not or will not explore. Kaladesh 2.0 was my venture into the cyberpunk aesthetic, since I don't foresee WotC doing a sci-fi setting any time soon.
  • @HeroKP So will there only be enemy pair multicolor cards in this set? Inspiration forger is fine. I have nothing to say about it other than that I like the name. Also, if you want to look at my takes on a counters-based mechanic like Hex, you ca…
  • @ThePhantomJoker Well, it also requires you to have a Tessith planeswalker down and the odds you get both a Tessith (with there being three Tessith walkers before he gets killed off two custom sets from now) and Ral down at the same time seems smal…
  • Also, Bloodthorn Witch seems really weak. All that is required to avoid my hexed creatures from being hit is... cast spells, which I'd be doing anyway. Oh, and for the sake of the cycle, change its mana cost to BGG and the Alchemist's to URR. That w…
  • @HeroKP I'd highly recommend keeping -1/-1 counters out of the set with hex counters already in it in order to prevent them from getting mixed up. I'd make Bloodthron Witch just say "Creatures get -1/-1 for each hex counter on them."
  • @HeroKP Yeah, that seems fine. Just put that as reminder text whenever a creature mentions hex counters for the first time. E.g. "Put a hex counter on target creature. (Creatures with hex counters on them can't block Witches.)"
  • @HeroKP Okay, I like that mechanic A LOT more. My only suggestion is either give the hex counters a base effect (similarly to how +1/+1 counters give +1/+1), so they aren't useless when you have no creatures that interact with them, or just turn he…
  • Alright this seems interesting. Here's my initial thoughts: -The focus on enemy color pairs is neat. Though, will this set be a ravnica-esque, multicolor matters set focusing exclusively on enemy pairs where there are multicolored commons, a tarkir-…
  • http://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/4121/tying-up-some-lose-ends#latest These are old, but they largely still work here.
  • Alrighty! I've got some promos! All cards follow Original --> Promo format. Eathouria Game Day Buy-a-box Torments of Thought Game Day Buy-a-box Core EM Game Day Buy-a-box Kaladesh 2.0 Game Day Buy-a-box Blackened Skies Remastered Game Day…
  • @Revan Rezatta is an ongoing project spearheaded by MTGCardsmith member @ningyounk. It is focused around "life total matters" themes and uses characters and settings based on the Italian Renaissance. You can check it out here: http://forums.mtgcard…
  • @ThePhantomJoker If you want to give feedback, you can just message me with it. Besides, this thread isn't the place for it. It's for feedback on @DARKSTEEL's idea. I just wanted to be sure I shared it as a potential basis (mechanically, lore-wise,…
  • So are these just... artifact quests? Huh. Neat.
  • @Tomigon The fact that we need specifically an ally cycle makes me think Grove of the Burnwillows might actually get a reprint, as problematic as it might be to reprint it into standard.
  • @DARKSTEEL I did a Kaladesh sequel set a while back, taking place 250 years in the future due to a time warp caused by one of Bolas' agents. If you care to see it, you can check it out here: http://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/3425/a-showcase…
  • @Tomigon I give Eldraine a 85% chance of having an ally land cycle. Right now, with the M19 temples, there is an imbalance in the ally and enemy land cycles in standard.
  • It's a new phyrexian invasion. You use phyrexian energy mana in the set.
  • @KorandAngels I will on a day I'm less busy!
  • Well, the aether tube sabotage seems very fitting of Kambal, the consul of allocation. Her father could be anything from a zombie reanimation due to a planeswalker's activity to a shapeshifter pretending to be the man, or it could just be Kiran fake…
