@Lujikul MtG doesn't have any non-blue Pirates (not including Changelings.) Ramirez di Pietro is both blue and black, that's as close as it gets. Rasta_Terror wanted some black ones though so that's the Challenge!

I have almost 5000 like that... Here's ten from my set for Jack Kirby, who created just about every major character from Marvel comics. http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/baron-strucker http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/black-panther-8 http://mtgcardsmith.co…

@Angry_Potatoes It was never closed, and Night_Rave posted to the thread yesterday. That's a new comment so it moves it to the front.

@MrRansom Ok I'll give it a shot. I rarely design just for a contest but if you want me to try, here goes: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/darkworld-vampire http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/vampire-920 "Vampires of the Darkworld only venture into Eavalyn…

Biblio is Greek for book and appropriate since I'm a bibliophile. I've managed bookstores and managed and owned gamestores. My personal library is extensive and keeps growing - to the amusement and occasional frustration of my wife. Classics, scienc…

MtG already has a set named Prophecy. I'd suggest changing the name to avoid confusion. Otherwise it sounds like a good idea. Nice flavorful plotline. http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?set=["Prophecy"]

@dibbydubsdubs No, just add examples, like this: "Devour [number] is an ability that allows you to sacrifice creatures as a creature enters the battlefield. The number indicates how many +1/+1 counters to put on the creature for each creature sacr…

My tone is not meant to be condescending, I apologize that it comes across that way. I spent years working with MtG rules as a living, both teaching and judging. Not understanding the basic definition of Event seemed like the central problem. Anyo…

@fabiocbinbutter We've finally pinpointed the difficulty you're having in rules comprehension. Spell text absolutely IS an Event when it's resolving. Triggered abilities are also, when they're resolving. Combat damage when it's applied. State-Based …

For Tommia's spell, you have the text. Modify the whole text with either replacement of the caster's choice. Then modify the whole text with the other replacement. Use the latest version of the text as you resolve the spell. Following instructions …
-
@fabiocbinbutter. Yes when actually -resolving- the event, you follow instructions in order. But you don't resolve line 1, then resolve line 2. It's an Event, and therefore atomic. You use the entire text, and apply any modifiers so it has a new te…

@CrucibleOfHate Oh yes, thanks! Didn't notice I hadn't reversed the two at the end as intended.
-
Wrong. The event is atomic. There's not some sort of stop-gap in the middle of the spell, like you do the first part then cast a counterspell before the second part happens. Spells don't work that way. Atomic = indivisible. The entire effect is cons…

No, it's not triggered. Triggers are either step-triggers and begin with "At" this step, or conditional triggers so must start with "When" or "Whenever." It's missing the word "instead" which is the normal way to word such effects, but is definitely…

Two songs gives more cardmaking choices though. Seemed good.

Two replacement effects, the event is Win the game, Lose the game. You get to decide which replacement happens first, so you can use the first replacement and instead Win, Win, then you have to use the second one so it's Lose Lose. If you choose to …

@Rednaxela Ok thanks, I'll participate then. If I use one from the set, I've already done Rule 6 while making them.
-
Rule 5 got me out. I have almost 300 cards in my Music set and don't mind making new ones, but if someone puts up something like Veteran of the Psychic Wars or Can't Sleep, Clowns Will Eat Me, it would be frustrating not to post what I've already cr…
