Here it is: The Daybreak mechanic.
-
Ehhhhh maybe? Its a very monogreen card. We'll see!
-
Hows this one look to y'all?
-
@Arceus8523 two very good points. Looks like blue is probably just gonna get a new mechanic.
-
Oh! That could work quite nicely. Thoughts on using Absorb for white?
-
I was thinking of focusing Wildfirites onto damage ramp, which makes her a touch out of place? However that is a really fun card.
-
@Lujikul Alright! Thanks for the warning, I'll take other cards into consideration. Although, I'm trying to use as many Futuresight mechanics as possible so... any other suggestions from that set?
-
[Scrapped Card with Fateseal]
-
@Sanjaya666 @Faiths_Guide okay but for real are y'all interested in designing for this set?
-
@Faiths_Guide I am intrigued! Is there perhaps a more subtle animal whose name I could employ? Ahahaha
-
So far I'm thinking that Echo should be a color-neutral mechanic spread across the five shards, while the blue mechanic could be Fateseal. ... This discussion is titled "a love letter to future sight" for a reason.
-
Introducing the monored mechanic, Kindle! It's basically mini-Neheb.
-
None of us were lmao
-
Especially when, you know, we're doing it for fun Because designing cards is fun
-
You can have two sets that do the same thing different ways
-
When they made Dragons of Tarkir no one was like "Ugh, what a Ravnica rip-off"
-
@Ranshi922 @Arceus8523 or we could just like Design our own sets and Not be childish about it and act like we own an entire theme
-
We can play it off differently! For example I'm going to try and build tribal mechanics interweaved with color identity, as well as new color-based keywords (G R A V E S T O R M). It's all how you use the basic idea!
-
@Ranshi922 I don't see why we can't both do... The same gimmick?
-
Devotion always struck me as a very set-specific mechanic. Monocolor-based Chroma however.... That I can appreciate.
-
Lol
-
The obvious choices for the Signature Races of Riptide and Wildfire are Djinn and Efreet respectively. However, Daybreak, Nightfall and Greenwood don't have similar Genie-based-elemental-humanoids. Thoughts on the introduction of new creature types …
-
Hybrid mana is definitely necessary, especially for interplanar travelers flavorwise. Speaking of flavor...
-
I'm thinking of making mechanics that reward the decks for doing what the colors do best. For example, Nightfall might have something similar to Gravestorm.
-
Oh, and of course, quiz yourself on the applicant quizes. I scored a 71 of 75, which is in fact a failing grade (only two shy of success though!!!).
-
Once I'm finished making them of course.
-
@Ranshi922 I have a few light challenges I could perhaps pose to you all in a Google Doc?
