Oh, hey there. That explains all the cheap artifacts I'm seeing on Recent. I'll be watching this.
-
(Oh hey, looks like I shouldn't have assumed a card pretty shallow in the 'popular' category would be for an ongoing contest still. Missed by over a week...) I got Selesnya today. I've been working with Saprolings today, anyway. Here's my card. I…

I don't like the True Name Nemesis effect. It's a unique design that you have to jump through hoops for (Play Mind Control.deck or Merieke/Rubinia), but in those decks it feels really bad for the opponent. Though Brand and more importantly Homeward …

So many! I like the Dirk and the Shinguards the best. Darksteel Bauble would be super strong in a Glissa deck (and I think, you run it in most limited decks, esp if artifact synergy is a thing, which it pretty much has to be unless we make a set wi…

@Corwinnn , Could you check the origin of the 'Shockwave' mechanic again? I don't believe it's mine. And I wouldn't want to be given credit for someone else's work. I checked through the 'Keyword Abilities - Triggered' gallery on the linked 'The Me…

I designed this with my roommate today (He goes by BoontheMartyr or Boon for short).

Yes, that one seems less broken in terms of costing. It is more degenerate in that you can keep recapturing the same spell over and over. (It also lacks the proper 'this turn' wording)
-
This is the last version of what I was first fiddling with on the site. @Tomigon may remember helping me with it. It's slightly incorrectly worded (for timing, it needs to say 'would be put into a graveyard this turn...' . And it's easily broken by…

It's like we have our own multi-planar Inventor's Fair. Except it's a storytelling competition, where we're recounting to each other something we've seen on our travels throughout the multiverse. An inspiring leader, a breathtaking display of magica…

Welcome back!

Regeneration is a replacement effect that replaces destruction. Destruction refers to both effects that say 'destroy' and the statebased action that puts a creature with lethal damage marked on it into its owner's graveyard. Regeneration replaces a …

Seems great. I'm especially fond of the land, the Chisel, the Artisan. Anything that facilitates the deck to run better and keep the costs down. Morph strategies tend to get expensive and therefore slow, well, fast. The wader is in particular somet…

@Tomigon I know it's simpler as-is to grok on reading the card. But I just wanted to bounce the idea of this wording for animosity (reminder text version): (This creature is dealt damage in the form of rage counters. It gets +1/-1 for each rage co…

How long have we been able to post pictures here? Because that's great. No more opening a million tabs to look at individual submissions.

Happy birthday @AustinSmith ! May your hammer strike true on the work of the anvil.

@L0NEvvolf You're gonna need to have that card put itself onto the battlefield transformed, as cards cannot transform in zones other that the battlefield. (For reference, see the Origins Planeswalker cards and Startled Awake) I like the idea of tu…

This is a challenge rather than a contest, so there isn't a particular need for an end date. I will go over all the toys again later this week and perhaps pick a personal favorite.

I don't have any connection to the lore of Warcraft-- I've only played Warcraft II as my first RTS on Windows 95. That's it. I hear there is a lot of RNG that goes on over there. On the one hand, it's kinda cool how you rethink order of play and ma…

@Damnation -- Fading does not use time counters. It uses fade counters. I believe that Vanishing replaced it for the following reasons: 1) Has easier tracking complexity by making sure that the card always has counters on it as a visual reminder of…

I don't know how many times I've had to tell Spell-check 'no, that's not a word; shad'up and let me type'. _._

@CrucivleOfHate That's a pretty interesting motivation for the Red planeswalker. I'm interested in hearing what the cause of the sibling's feud is / what their ideologies are and why they're in conflict. Do they disagree about whether they should a…
-
@Animist I left specific feedback on each of those card pages. I'm drawn most towards Painborn and Reave. I'd certainly be hyped if Wizards launched another '-1/-1 counters matter' block like Lorwyn. (Return to Lorwyn/Shadowmoor?) Gestate's got s…

"The opposite of board wipes..." Have you seen Coercive Portal?

Creature cycles don't always have the same power and toughness. e.g. the cycle of creatures in one of the core sets (M15?) that got +1/+1 if you controlled an off-color land, and had an activated ability that granted a static ability and required th…

@Biblio I suppose I meant keyword rather than mechanic. I'm super-aware of Fate Transfer, Vampire Hexmage and Hex Parasite. Aether Snap always falls out of my consciousness and then I come across it every now and again.
-
@Damnation To simplify and re-iterate: Spells can have hexproof/shroud, but those abilities do not function in zones other than the battlefield and therefore wouldn't do anything for an instant or sorcery. Split-Second works better. (As you've poi…

^ That, and Vampire Hex-mage.

I've got a potential mechanic. But I don't have a name for it yet. Working title: Timesiphon "This spell costs {1} less to cast for each time counter that has been removed from a card you own this turn." Example card: Azrin, Archangel of Culling h…

@Zicreator Pressurize seams cool. It's got a nice Steampunk Izzet thing going on, and it encourages attacking (which is usually what makes the game end). It also works with counters, though. So you could accelerate it with proliferate.

@cadstar369 Chant seems like a really easy to blow-out form of Suspend. You'll get two-for-one-ed a lot trying to pull it off. If you take that into account, and design Chant cards with large effects and relatively short turn-arounds, then it would…
