Here's an idea. What about cards (such as instants, sorcery's, and enchantments) that activate Enlightenment or give the creature enlightenment?

How about a religion where the people who follow the gods are enlightened? That gives to the mechanic, and we can also make cards that defy the gods and are against them, as they might not be enlightened.
