You misunderstand what I mean. What if the puzzle is a test. What if this whole thing is a trial, a trial run.

I was just thinking. The phrases seem very deliberate. They are calling the puzzle a "Trial" which leads me to believe that it is a test.

You weren't asking about the puzzle though. Questioning exposition is completely different than questioning the nature of a puzzle. Wouldn't attempting to work through it be a wiser course of action?
