@ningyounk I like the idea of Ensoul in general, but I'm a little confused on how it would fit into the theme of the Renaissance in general. Discover makes sense thematically, but I'm trying to figure out Ensoul. If you end up using Ensoul as a ke…

@ningyounk I edited the card for fun and for a possibly better mechanic (certainly simpler lol). We don't have to use a religious sub-theme, just throwing ideas out there because I like making stuff up lol.
-
@brcien Philosophy was a good portion of the Renaissance era as well, so I can definitely see something like that fitting in with a religious twist. Perhaps (if we go with such a sub-theme) different colors would fit different philosophies, but all …
-
I have no idea if we'll end up doing anything with religion, but here's a prototype mechanic that still focuses on the life thing.
-
Oh, also the Reformation was sparked by the Renaissance, so maybe we could have a small sub-theme of religion or the church, since they played a fairly large role.
-
Ah that makes sense. I thought the term specifically referred to the set, not to the creation of the set as well. So are we gonna focus on life mechanics then?
-
Ok I'm still new to the terms in Magic so can you explain "top-down" real quick? I could look it up but you guys can probably explain it better
-
I like most of those, although I do have a question. Wouldn't you have to word Hysteria something like "Whenever a player would gain or lose life, they gain or lose 1 extra life instead"? Because otherwise they're gaining or losing infinite life bec…

@ningyounk That's cool, I like that flavor! Um, well I may not associate knights specifically, but jousting is something I definitely link to the Renaissance. Pirates, inventions, definitely art. Maybe plague as well, to a lesser extent. I like the…
-
Maybe we could make the art not sacrifice? What's the flavor for the sacrifice?
-
Going with the art concept, maybe you could have a mechanic that specifically focuses on taking control of art. Thieve X (Gain control of X target Art creatures. When this card leaves the battlefield, return all Art creatures to their owner's contr…

Well the Renaissance era spans a good chunk of time. It included great leaps in science, knights, pirates, inventions, and a ton of other stuff. So is this just all of the Renaissance, or more specifically the art and knightly aspects?
-
I like the idea, but the first two abilities are the same thing with different values, so there's no reason someone would use the second. Also, the memorize trigger would have to be "Memorize creature", so that it ensures only one creature is memori…

Edited Pariah of Bolas to make it more synergistic and the second ability less useless.

New mechanic hype!!!

One of my older cards.

Now fueled by the rage of Chaos, Duality sprints toward the large debris-borne creature. He slides under an oncoming fist, narrowly avoiding a very decidedly lethal blow. As he slides under, he brings the his blade up, slicing along the creature's a…

@modnation675 Oops, didn't realize I did. Aside from that, how is it? Edit: Fixed
-
Not a bad card, although you don't have to capitalize the keyword abilities after the first. Also, with that much empty space, you should definitely add flavor text or something.
-
Duality steps back, grabbing his blade as the giant fist emerges from the wreckage, watching Galloran as he simultaneously shields his face from some of the debris. Once seeing that no real damage was done, Duality spins and throws a small scythe at…

@Arceus8523 @Mellenius I also have a couple clock cards, though their designs involve colorless mana with colored borders to match their theme and the art. One is black and one is blue.
-
I'll keep the effect as is, because I like it currently, but I thought maybe I was going crazy for a minute haha. No worries man, just wanted to be sure

The concept of the stack still confuses me, but based off of what I'm understanding, wouldn't the memorize trigger as the eldrazi was put on the stack as a response, meaning its cmc would become the number chosen? The effect that gives it the +1/+1 …
-
Definitely the first, as it holds flavor with the card I created it for. I was trying to implement the cmc vs cost thing, but I'll do that with another ability later on. The text has been changed on the card and in the thread. It's finally official,…
-
That's probably correct, I just could've sworn that certain copies didn't carry those letter values because they didn't meet certain conditions. Idk, I'm probably wrong
-
That seems way too wordy to me, but ok. Either way I changed it again
-
Ohhhhhh, but if the Eldrazi said "When Endless One enters the battlefield, put X +1/+1 counters on it" it would be fine right? Because the memorize would take effect prior to the counters
-
So? I'm confused. The converted mana cost of the Eldrazi card is equal to the mana spent to cast it. Even if I'm wrong on that, and the mana cost is 0, you're creating a copy, the keyword being "create". You place it onto the battlefield under your …

@modnation What do you mean?
