A wonderful lil creature who uses Surge, a mechanic wizard could definitely have stood give other costs to. It's a cute way of getting into play, and it's a fair effect for the cost. Nicely done.
Magic is always trying find a way of recreating the original Counterspell. UU counter target spell. This a good stab at mimmicking the original formula in a way that could have been standard legit. I think it could been either 1U or given two energy for the UU cost, as it's not a hard counter. I still very much like the idea of it as is, why it's number 4.
I am sure this critter would have seen plenty of standard play had been a card out at the time Kaladesh was legal. Players love scrying and getting an energy for other uses or chump blocker later. A good effort.
She's a baby lightning angel with options. She probably could had another power or/and toughness for being a legendary creature and 3 colors. Mantis Rider is a 3/3 and nonlegendary, and Lightning Angel is a 3/4 for 1 generic more mana. Still I suppose she could be just raw energy for the right deck or late game that makes her work at her cost. I like what was going on in any case, as it came close to taking the top spot.
First and our big Winner for this contest.... @MrRansom 5 favorites and Premium to yourself or fellow smith of your choice for a month. (Choose wisely, as once you decree who gets it, I will do it, and it's done.)
I really like that it works both as a tool for helping yourself find answers, or a hoser for energy decks. Oh you have a nice pile of energy there....go scry instead as I don't need you making megasized hydra next turn. I like that goes outside of the box in that, so I decided I'd give it first for treading new ground with the mechanic.
There's our winners, thank you for your entries and patience. Hope you had fun!
Shweet! @Lastjustice was there any prizes beyond 1st place?
Congrats to the other winners, and yeah I agree that card by @MrRansom is SO needed. Plenty of games I could've changed the outcome if I'd have had that card lol.
@sorinjace I was behind schedule and mainly worried about getting this completed. I can add a few honorables and dishonorable mentions. (oh wait not the second part.) I favorited various entries I liked as well.
Oh ok sorry @Lastjustice I got confused as to what each cardsmith gets per place in the contest (example 1st gets 5 faves, 2nd gets 4 faves, 3rd gets 3 faves, etc. etc. Just an example.) But u said u faved various ones you liked so that's cool. Thanks 4 the contest and congrats on hitting (now over) 600 cards!
@sorinjace No, people still get ask whatever they wanted me to favorite as Bnew07 did for their prizes. I just favorited cards of my own accord as well was what i meant. I only assign them by my choice if prizes are never claimed.
