  • @TrippleBoggey3 I like the sound of "accidentally" arrange you to be with someone... and Next Round's Team Captain (Are we even doing team captains?). I actually like the sound of a hall of fame (Maybe in the form of a -Trophy- type of account?)
  • @ningyounk, and everyone else, it wouldn't matter, but a prerelease card or a promo card to show the crowd would be nice :)
  • @TheEverspikesWarlord As I mentioned earlier, I won't be able to participate in the next round, so I won't be able to be captain anyway ;)

@TrippleBoggey3 Yes, I'm Nin XD We kinda stopped using our real usernames, they were too long and complicated x)

Promo cards sound awesome, we already had a very special idea for promo cards, so that's the perfect occasion ;)

    Hello everyone!

We're @Yururu @TheEverspikesWarlord, @OneBigBlueSky, and @ningyounk and, as promised above, this is Team D’s early spoilers season :) Today, we’ll spoil a central mechanic of our set that, we hope, will hint what our theme is. Let’s not make the suspense last any longer, here’s our two preview cards:

    image

Oops, this is from our French and Portuguese imaginary Magic branch :o Maybe we’ll walk you through each of these cards in a manner the majority of us will actually understand? ;p

    image

This features our custom mechanic: Loot N (Exile the top N cards of your library into your loot. You may pay {1}. If you do, put a card from your loot into your hand.) What this means is that every time you loot, the cards that don’t end up in your hand won’t just disappear, you will be able to pick them up later. But maybe you don’t want to, as a number of cards care about what is in your loot. While Venal Skymiral is pretty straight-forward in the way she cares about your loot (hint: she wants more jewelry), the second card can be more… surprising.

    image

We really hope you enjoyed these two spoilers from our custom set! We know it’s very little, so here’s an extra: the Loot token, to pile your precious loot on, so you don’t mix it with regularly exiled cards.

    image

Oh, before we go. Did you catch the last clue we discreetly placed on our preview cards? ;p If you’re still not sure what our set is about, maybe this enlarged version of the set symbol will give you some idea!

  • Well now everything our team has done looks sub-par... Awesome set design ningyounk and team! You guy's using MTGcardsmith to make this cards? I just got a Premium Membership and don't have anything to make custom set symbols?
  • They use mtg set designer
  • I'm not sure it should count if you use non MTGCardsmith cards in an MTGCardsmith challenge. Beautiful cards though. Fantastic set symbol as well, but like DingusXeon said, now it puts all the other teams at a disadvantage.

Don't worry about the set symbol thing, that's a bonus ^^ All cards will have their own page on MTGCardsmith, we won't use any technology outside the MTG Card maker, and cards will have the Graveborn set symbol on the site ;)
  • lol our set sucks in comparison.
  • @ningyounk, is the set about a city in the clouds?
  • @littledemon You'll find out in 4-5 days I guess! ;) *slithers away while making a very mysterious "oooooh" sound with his mouth*
  • Alright @ningyounk, is this a ripoff of cache, or had you not heard of it?

    http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/gaeas-confidant-1
It was designed by @fabiocbinbutter quite a while back and gathered a lot of interest. I planned on creating a card using it and crediting him. Obviously your mechanic is different but has a lot of similarities.

Anyway, I love it!!! :D Only thing I would say, with reference to Captain's Pet, why did you decide to use official MTG artwork? http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=373554

@Faiths_Guide As always you have amazing feedback! =D

I never heard of Cache before, I don't know about the others? So no, we started from a very different place to get to loot ^^ @fabiocbinbutter always make some really good mechanics, that's for sure! Loot works quite differently from cache though. Cache is basically a second hand that you fill during the game. With loot, you can't decide to pay {1} any time to get a card from your loot, you only have the opportunity to do so when a loot ability triggers. Additionally, loot cards are face-up which means we can make cards that care about what type of cards are in your loot :)

Snap, we missed the fact that the goat was an official MTG artwork, that's a mistake from our part ^^" Thanks a lot for pointing that out! Captain's Pet will have a completely new art once we release the set in 4-5 days =D

Funny story, we actually thought about making a public conversation at first, in order to have this kind of feedback from people not participating in any team ^^ But we could not make it because our team works on a mini-Multiverse on Google Drive, and letting people access it while restricting the modifications to only us four showed harder than expected :/ If we work fast enough, maybe we'll be able to spoil the entire set one day or two before the actual release so we can get more feedback ^^
  • @ningyounk
Great stuff! Yes, "loot" is quite different. Possibly even more versatile and awesome :D

I love what I've seen thus far! Keep it up you dudes!
  • 5 days left!!!

    ANOUNCEMENT

@Faiths_Guide will PM me your sets. Do not directly post them. I am planning a surprise for you guys...

You have until next Wendsday to make cards.
  • I would still like an answer on what prizes you want.
  • bragging rights is good enough for me!
  • That's what I would say
  • I got it! @ningyounk's set is about sky pirates!
  • or just pirates but the skull has wings and the lady seems to be on a flying ship
  • @littledemon
"I got it! @ningyounk's set is about sky pirates!"

    Wasn't that quite obvious? ô.Ò
  • edited September 2016
And I neither do think prizes are what's really relevant here. If just everybody generously favs those cards he or she likes while exploring the sets, we'll collect more favs on our cards than any prize could provide.
  • Sure guys! Though if only I could get @mtgcardsmith to sponsor this...
  • @mtgcardsmith! we need you to sponsor this!
  • @TrippleBoggey3 If we don't post the cards, wouldn't the story and mechanics explanations for the set be a little weird? O_o
  • I think @Feyamius is onto something!
  • Me? What? *looking left* *looking right* I didn't do anything! ;)

Hello everyone! My team (Team B) has decided to start spoiling some cards to you as well! Welcome to the plane of Lindisfarne, on the small island of Corwinhorna (Literally meaning "Friend of the heart Squirrel" in old english @Corwinnn). Corwinhorna is very special because it has one of the largest religious centers of one of the only monotheastic religions in the multiverse.
    image
Most Corwinhornians are simple farmers, but you will find that there are also clerics, priests, and even artificers.
    image
Today, you are going to meet the Bishop of Corwinhorna, Kirkwood. He is the highest ranking clergyman within the Corwinhorna Monastery. Sometimes, Kirkwood even travels across the sea to go to the Religious center to meet some of the leaders of his Religion.
    image
As you see, the devotion mechanic returns to show the Corwinhornan's undying devotion to god. Devotion is mainly in green and white.

While Corwinhorna is now mainly ruled by monotheastic humans, this wasn't always the case. In the past, Corwinhorna was home to many Animists (Refered to the Church as "Pagans"). There also used to be a thriving elven community who was mostly driven off during the church takeover. Some of the elves vied to stay in their home and convert to the Church's religion, and are now some of the best druids within the church. Some say that this is because of their natural connection with the land.
    image
Even though the Church has eradicated most of the Pagans, a few human pagans still eek out a living up in the Highwood forest.
    image
Unfortunately, all of the Pagan elves were eradicated or left long ago.

Join us tomorrow as we spoil the set's second mechanic, as well as the Planeswalker.

  • @KrampisZman, Search your library for a plans?

Do you mean Plains, or is it a new subtype?

I will have @Dingusxeon fix that. (That card is not mine)

EDIT: Typo has been fixed and the image has been updated.
