The Dairi didn't prepare themselves for any sort of ambush, but were aware enough of its arrival to defend themselves well. They may suffer a death, maybe two and a handful of other causalities, but nothing major.
The Infinite Athenaeum is under lockdown, awaiting the arrival of the horror, which remains but a tiny speck in the distance. Efforts to protect them are well-setup, but who knows whether they'll be of any success...
Black mist followed the Maviol far away from their home, sending them right into the middle of an Elven/Werewolf territory (an odd combination at best). Along the way, it showed them unspeakable horrors, but ultimately they parted the mist to find almost nothing, and found peace with another faction.
The Desolate succeeded in its task to begin to rip apart the very order the three highbugs have held together for so long. Tension rises among them, and the Desolate's greatest threat is beginning to seem...not so great.
A bonus point you say? I didn't mention anything about those!
You're right; I didn't! But the flavor, writing, and the fact that you willingly welcomed conflict earned you that I feel. Now, the question is whether the bugs will overcome this and succeed in their lust for power, utilizing the Desolate itself, or if they'll fall to its deception...
One of the individuals from among the prophets brought a grand message. Why, it was Lydor, disguising himself as one of them! The others, however...they continue their mindless babble. Some have begun speaking the local language, causing slight amounts of civil unrest.
Regardless, now the path to defeat the wurms is clear, but the question remains whether it will be enough...
The massive wurms easily overrun the Alliance. Their attacks are uncoordinated and sloppy, but for some strange reason, they are spared, but barely. Few lives are taken, but many more face serious injury.
Zunesha roars in anger, granting its inhabitants massive strength. However, this also comes with the price of frailty. Its goal is to banish the wurm and all others forever, and this works for now. After the defeat of the massive wurm, Zunesha phases itself out of existence in fear they should return, leaving Jaeger and his followers in oblivion...
The card is very well-designed. The fact that it doesn't just buff your attackers, but debuffs your blockers as well makes it one of those cards that you need to have a plan with and can't just go all-in. In other words, it balances itself by making your attacks more threatening and able to rip through each blocker, while having the downside of a weakened defense (weakened in the same way, but opposite direction).
The activated is wonderful.
A general question though, how does the card interact with multiple blockers/blocking multiple attackers (when applicable)? Does it just change according to the total power/toughness of each creature? Zyoom!
Duritim's populace, while still worrisome, calms down a little. The rebel organisation is still prevalent, but quieter than before. Wurms are driven off, though not killed,
I never got around to posting your challenge because I had essentially vanished from existence at that point. That's on me, so here's 6 points as if you had perfected the challenge plus a bonus one. Dearest apologies.
If I missed any of you, I'll have to spontaneously combust.
WEEKLY (in this case, basically a monthly...) SUMMARY:
The Desolate has pushed itself into Lakas, harvesting energy from the plane itself. It has been met with resistance, but efforts to stop it have been futile thus far. The destruction of the Ravager of Zunesha has proven that this threat can be stopped. But how? It seems a certain prophet may hold the answer. Maybe some particular bugs will fight it with its own weapons. Or, perhaps, a few humans with guns will be the end of it all.
Only one faction has killed a monster yet (rather swiftly, to be quite honest). On the flip size, the Zuneshans no longer...exist. At least, for now.
ACTIVE CHALLENGE (Until Sunday, 1 September. Posts will be taken until 31 August at 12AM EST, United States. Worth up to 10 points.)
Unpublished. Stay tuned!
OTHER NOTES
Loving everything you all are submitting. I love seeing the identities of the factions develop. The Horizon Walkers have turned phasing into a reasonable mechanic (who'd've thunk it?), while the Maviol are bringing morph to another level. The Duritim experience peace at the hands of an iron fist, making for an interesting and very realistic culture that I'm a Big Fan Of (from a flavourful view).
@SammySammyson, the answer to your general question was a hard one for me figure out initially. I had originally wanted to have it say... equal to the total combined power or toughness, but had not enough text box. So for now, you would just choose the first in blocking order assignment.
Of course, you all can request a new obstacle that will last until the new active challenge finishes!
Remember: - Easy (Gain up to 3 point counters.) - Hard (Gain up to 6 point counters.) - Challenging (Submit a card in response: Gain up to 10 point counters.)
No, you can't proliferate your points even when I call them counters in a horrible attempt to be funny. Nice try. *stares at @HeroKP, from whom I would expect that*
ACTIVE CHALLENGE (Until Sunday, 1 September. Posts will be taken until 31 August at 12AM EST, United States. Worth up to 10 points.)
With nightmares past, the leaders of each faction begin to see their nightmares manifested into reality. Shadows of wurms flicker across their sight from time-to-time, while all their closest advisors remain without any visions. The shadows lurk and move in alleyways, along walls, invading the home they've worked so hard to build or protect.
Some of the shadows look oddly familiar. Not like anyone knows what they are, but rather that they're something of legend. Some of the shadows have odd tendrils stemming from them, and others appear to be human life merged together. More still are abominations that for some reason seem to...draw you in.
Clearly something is wrong. Very, very wrong. There aren't planeswalkers to save Lakas. There aren't giant armies to take down these threats. There isn't magic or time enough to analyze everything and make a strategic plan.
The feeling in the guts of each faction leader is that there are only a few days (in the case of this challenge, that will be probably about two more weeks) before they'll need to be ready. Deep down, they know nothing will be enough.
But they sure can try.
The challenge? Make a card (or multiple) and do some writing to describe the preparations. Don't just stick to a single thing, but rather try to think like this:
How will the cities fortify? How will you recruit new soldiers or mages, or whatever you plan to use for the inevitable fight? How will you try to understand and identify the shadows (though, I'm sure lots of you know what many of them are, the denizens of Lakas don't)?
The sightings have also revealed to you that you must try to call upon the favor of a god to aid you - the gods that have been silent for millennia. It is known to you all that they will be of great assistance if you can win their favor. Your submission, whether it be sacrifice, a grand temple, or something else, could determine the fate of your faction. Perhaps...you will try to do the opposite and not put your faith in an ancient folklore... (See this set for all five of the gods. You can't try to gain the help of gods whose colour does not fall under those of your faction.)
Lastly, remember that you are all left with only a few days. So building a temple reminiscent of the Taj Mahal is probably unlikely (unless, of course, you can work some magic, quite literally, to make it happen), but something smaller like the Pantheon would be far more reasonable. Keep this in mind not only when considering any offerings to the gods should you make some, but also in fortifications and the like.
In a temple inside the Maviol pocket dimension, Setra attempts to commune with the Gods of Lakas, asking for a vision, but what comes frightens her beyond belief. The gods she sees are great horrors, like those she and her people were driven away by. It's traumatizing. Left more hopeless than ever, Setra speaks with Sanova.
"Sanova... I'm afraid to say this... the gods are not like those we used to worship. Something has twisted them, corrupting them." "You needn't tell me." Sanova seems down, sulking in a small pond under a waterfall. "We made shrines in their favor long ago. But just like the shrines, they have crumbled and disfigured into something unidentifiable. Is this really all there is left of the plane? Is everything meant to be destroyed?" "Don't you remember our plan? We planned to bring peace to this plane. It's apparent that we have found only one faction that agrees with our ideals. Therefore... there is one more thing we can do if we want to save this plane..." "You don't mean..." "Our greatest guardian. He has slept for over 1000 years. Hopefully his power is restored from his battle against our old enemies. This dimension is separate from Lakas. We could end up creating a paradox, but the plan was to fold Myria onto Lakas. This will take great power, and may result in the death of many of our people, but if we can succeed, not only can we restore Lakas and our destroyed kingdom, but the aura of Myria nullifies hostility. Everyone will be at peace, for the realm forces them to be."
When it comes to combat and fortifications, Jaeger is second to none. They say that the best offense is a good defense. But, Jaegers strategy is, why not both? He deftly puts together an assault plan that will work for both. Jaeger has no problem waiting for the fight to come to him; however he will take the fight to wherever he is needed, when the time comes.
Lost somewhere to the annals of time, way up in the Zuneshan mountains lies a forgone temple. Jaeger had read about the slumbering Deities in historical texts or heard from some old sages tales that wanted to share a pint. He astutely put his best scouts on the search for this temple, hoping that it's not too late to call upon the aid of any, or all, the Divine that will listen.
Jaeger knows that if there are Divine of the Celestial variety, there can also be of the Infernal. Knowing first-hand the depths that man will go to survive, Jaeger sends his most trusted advisers, Ludus and Evianna, to go into the deepest depths of the underdark. There he would hope to call upon the aid of an ancient demon that has been the darkness that resides over Zunesha. Because, without Zunesha, Aion would not exist in this plane; and neither would Zunesha.
For @spookoops and anyone else who wishes to try and win the favor of the gods, you can choose to do so for any number of the five gods, so long as that god's colour is one of your faction's colours.
"It's time." Irali, always pushing for the prototype weapons to be tested and used. "We had a wurm attack, now we need to prepare ourselves for another one." "We will start using the weapons and armor, but they will NOT become the norm. Got it? They will only be used against things that our armor patrols can't deal with." "I understand." "Good, now tell the troops they'll have to get ready for another wave." "I understand." "One last thing; we set out at dawn. We need to leave wurm territory, we can't keep staying out here in the open. That's how the bugs forced us to retreat into this desert." "There's a canyon twenty miles from here, if we leave when you say we should, then we will get there by the day after." "I don't want the day after, I want tomorrow! Find something we can use as cover when we leave wurm territory!"

Sorry, it's my first time doing anything like this, and I assumed that it would be possible to submit a new faction at any time.
