Make a Non-human Planeswalker (over)

Since i picked up a breed lethality deck i've been building a planeswalker commander, and i have noticed almost all planeswalkers are humans. lets change that. I want you all to make a planeswalker that isn't a human, and i encourage you to elaborate on who/what your planeswalker is and their personality. This contest will be over on march 31st

Rules:
-The art must not look like a human
-The card must be a planeswalker card (it cannot be a creature that is a planeswalker, like the original karn.)
-3 Entries maximum
-You may make cards for this or use cards you have already made that fit the (rather loose) criteria

I will be judging the cards by (in this order): balance, how it fits in the color pie, art, and how your character would fit into the lore (obviously not applicable if you do not give them a story).

1st: I will follow you and favorite 3 cards of your choosing.

2nd: I will follow you and favorite 2 cards of your choosing.

3rd: I will follow you and favorite 1 card of your choosing.

    Name: Rikaz

Rikaz was born on the plane of Lorwyn, a simple boggart with a simple life. However when he witnessed the changes in his kin during the Twilight, he did not understand it. He began to grow fearful of his companions, who went from frolicking and misschievous to vicious and warlike creatures. Where once they only pranked people, they now cut their throats, attacked them with no warning or reason.

Rikaz, unaffected by the Twilight's influence, began to despair and felt unsafe amongst not only just his own kind, but all kinds. At one point, while forraging whatever he could for food, he happened upon a warband of Cynders, which he used to know as the transcendant Flamekin. they had turned vengeful and almost demonic in appearance.

Cornered by these dangerous and terrifying creatures, Rikaz suddenly felt his consciousness slip away, pulling him through the divisions of time and space, until he landed on Kaladesh.

Interested in the way the people of Kaladesh made their own lives easier by creating constructs, artifacts and vehicles, Rikaz started learning their craft (albeit not with the Kaladeshian flair for beauty and complexity... or even quality)

After several years on Kaladesh, yet again Rikaz was forced into an almost inescapable situation, when agents of the consortium found him and wanted to apprehend him. In a moment of terror, Rikaz realized that his constructs had been noted as potential tools for war and both angered and saddened by this realization, the goblin managed to escape Kaladesh and entered the plane of Zendikar at the very moment that the Gatewatch were desperately trying to fight off the Eldrazi.

There he managed to see the true potential of his own tinkering habbits, using whatever materials to create weapons that even the goblins of zendikar could use, ranging from simple fire arms to mechanized machines to soar through the skies. He now knew his calling: to aid those of his kind and others, no matter on which plane and no matter the danger...

Maybe soon, he'd return to Lorwynn, but that would be in due time, for now... the multiverse needed a quick little thinker and tinkerer to stand by his newfound comerades of "The Gatewatch"

EDIT: edited the card's typing and wording
  • That is a cool planeswalker, though it's +2 should be "Create two 0/2 colorless thopter artifact creature tokens with {t}, Deal 1 damage to target creature or player." wording of token abilities is easy to do wrong.
  • it's sad that the darn "tap" doesn't work on the planeswalker creator

NOTE(This planeswalker is part of my proliferate deck which has its own lore, so I'll be partly explaining its lore as well)

Y'Qine and Y'Larin were both born on the plane Almein. As they grew, Y'Qine fell in love with Y'Larin, and vowed to follow and serve her. As the years went by, the two began to become more hostile, raided and destroying towns, villages and anything they could find with life. As their power grew, they heard about an ancient forest called the Arcane Forest, and the powerful vault hidden within, the Arcane Vault. Desiring that power, they headed to the Arcane Forest.

At this time, Aisgard, the village outside the Arcane Forest, had not yet been built, so the two were able to enter the forest without obstruction. However, upon entering the forest, it realized what they were there to do, and that they were a threat to the forest and all who resided in it.

The Tree of Life, the life force of the forest begun to awaken. Y'Sieve, Tree of Life, which is the dormant form of the Tree of Life, awoke to fight Y'Larin and Y'Qine. As the battle raged on inside the Arcane Forest, Y'Qine realized that Y'Larin was losing, and that Y'Sieve was going to kill her. In a final attempt to save Y'Larin, he charged Y'sieve, taking the full blow of the attack that was going to kill Y'Larin.

But Y'Qine wasn't dead. Instead, it was Y'Sieve who was badly hurt. Y'Qine could feel an unimaginable power flowing through him; his spark had ignited. Using this new power, he fought Y'Sieve with almost equal power to hers. Now realizing that the tides of battle had turned against her, and that if Y'Larin re-joined the fight, she would lose and die, which would ultimately cause the forest to wither and die.

So before she let that happen, she lured Y'Qine to the place where she sleeps and becomes the dormant Tree of Life. There, she trapped him, sealing him away under her dormant state. Y'Larin, still badly injured from the fight, found the Arcane Vault and fell dormant there herself, guarding it as her own, healing and growing stronger from its power, until Ajax would find and open it centuries later, awakening Y'Larin and Y'Sieve once again, and freeing Y'Qine.

    Name Mazachiel
    Race: Sliver

The ultimate project of Yawgmoth, a culmination of the Phyrexian's desire for perfection and an insane idea of creating something unseen withing the sliver race: a sliver that operated outside of the hivemind, outside of the brood and with its own thoughts and machinations.

When Yawgmoth perished, it seemed this project would never be completed, but Nicol Bolas, after having lost much of his power during the Mending thought it could be interesting to see if the slivers that remained in Dominaria could perhaps with some help replicate a planeswalker's spark and thus feed him so he could regain his once immeasurable power.

To his delight it seemed that the testsubject one of his spies had managed to capture did indeed perfectly fused with the spark of a planeswalker Nicol Bolas had caught and killed for this experiment. However, things did not go as planned, for the sliver that had been given the spark, was none other than Mazachiel, the very sliver that had been granted singular thought and a separate mind from the other slivers.

Mazachiel managed to escape the elder dragon's clutches and started planting seeds of Phyrexia onto other planes. He killed the Sliverqueen and took control of the hivemind, creating a single elegant machine, with a singular vision... His.

Now he is biding his time, waiting for the opportune moment to reap the rewards from his seeds and start rebuilding Phyrexia's power on multiple planes. Mirrodyn had been a great preliminary success, so Mazachiel is certain, nothing would be able to stop him when he unleashes the slivers upon the multiverse...
  • For my entry I give you a merfolk plainswalker. While we already have one with Kiora, I made more of a control plainswalker.

    Name: Motari
    Race: Unknown/Previously Demon

At the end of a climatic battle with a cadre of angels, Motari, a very powerful demon in his own right, eventually fell to the angels' blades. However, teetering at the edge of death and just as the final blow was to be dealt, a spark awoke in Motari, and he disappeared in front of the angels without a trace. What should have not been possible, happened; a demon had planeswalked.

Awakening on an unknown plane, Motari roused himself and tried to reach some kind of recollection of what had happened. He had trace memories of who he was, barely remembering his name or what he was. He did take note however, that his previous form; that of a large, muscular and imposing demon with massive black wings was no longer his. Now his body was that of an immaterial and flowing dark shadow, but one which tried to emulate the form of a very tall, thin, and somewhat humanoid figure with long, dark hands and fingers.

While wandering this unknown plane, Motari encountered some of its inhabitants. These individuals looked oddly enough, somewhat like him, though they lacked his shadowy, almost mist-like form. They were tall and lithe humanoids, seemingly made of both flesh and spirit, composed of matter both natural and ethereal. He had observed that these creatures had a very strong command over both white and black mana, and were able to manipulate both spiritual energies just as well as living flesh. Life and death were much more malleable forces in their eyes, though their ease of this manipulation did not lack any sort of respect. These creatures crafted both body and spirit in order to keep themselves nigh-immortal and foster life in their homeworld, but also encourage cognition of the immaterial; matters and existences outside of the living world.

Eventually this race became aware of Motari, and were at first puzzled by him. However, they soon became hostile to him and viewed him as an abomination. Some in particular, even though Motari had no recollection of this world or its people, branded him a heretic. These accusations came after one of these creatures noticed all things living and unliving seemed to have an aversion to Motari. The bodies of recently dead animals withered even faster in his presence, and eventually faded into what seemed oblivion. Living things around him seemed to break down...not decompose or rot...but to literally split into more and more basic elements of what the living thing was composed of, and eventually fade away as well. He had become, in their own words, "A blight to both the living and the dead."

Motari was soon chased off by this unknown race of this unknown world. He now spends his days trying to remember what he is and how he came to be. How was he, a demon, able to planeswalk? Was he something, or someone else before he was a demon? Why and how do some of the inhabitants of this world seem to recognize him in some way? And why does he, even in his new shadowy form, look somewhat like them...

So mine is a spirit planeswalker from Theros. The character was originally designed for the CardsmithOrigins collaboration set project (which you can check out here if you're interested: http://mtgcardsmith.com/user/CardsmithOrigins ), but the card was designed as a concept for a friend of mine, @CorpCo , for his set, Theros Fallen.

I will not flood this contest with the lore I created for Somnium (which is pretty long), but if you're interested on reading his lore, check out the CardsmithOrigins Lore Discussion Page ( http://forums.mtgcardsmith.com/discussion/comment/64379/ )

Born of the god Heliod, he was shuned by all humans, including Gideon. Saddened, his consciousness slipped away, pulling him through the divisions of time and space, until he landed on Kaladesh.

There, he met Rikaz and had an instant bond with him. He even followed him to Zendikar and helped the gatewatch defeat the Eldrazi.

    image-Second Entry
NOTE(Just like with my first entry, this planeswalker is part of a deck I'm making, my artifact deck, which has its own lore, so I'll be partly explaining its lore as well)

    Plane: Uliri
Dralscor, the original creator of Orvios, was betrayed by his own followers and was destroyed. When Orvios found out, she has already become a God. To pay back Dralscor for creating her, she rebuilt him. But she didn't stop there. She created an army of mechanical dragons, one of whom is Krakonis.

As she created more and more dragons, among other creations, she also amassed a large following, including the three sisters Prile, Omra, and Maraphi. These three sisters were some of Orvios' first followers, so they were with the dragons the longest. Prile and Omra had already become planeswalkers at this point, but Maraphi had not, but they used their powers and abilities to help Orvios and the dragons in any way they could.

As Orvios conquered more and more of Uliri, the three sister grew very close to the dragons they tended to and led. One dragon they grew exceptionally close to was Krakonis, who was one of the most powerful and destructive dragons, and he grew very close to the three as well. He had annihilated entire cities by himself, leaving nothing behind but the echoing screams of the smoking corpses of the dead. He leveled mountains that were in his path. He fought off armies of thousands, not even being phased by them.

During one particular battle, however, the tides were turning against him. In this fight, the three sisters had come with him, as the city he was attacking was the capital of that continent. They hadn't known that the city was protected by angels. During the fight, the three sisters had taken considerable damage, and were resting on Krakonis' back as he plowed through the streets, eradicating the citizens and buildings below, when suddenly, a great force of magic crashed into him from above; the angels were trying to smite him. The problem was, the three sisters were on his back when this happened.

As he was hit with this attack, there was a great flash of red, and then the city was gone, the angels dead or scattered. The smiting had failed, and the four of them were unharmed. Maraphi had used up the last bit of her energy to heal Krakonis as they were hit by the smiting, and using that small boost of power, his spark ignited, saving them and obliterating the city.

    http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/bruugar-high-chieftain-1?list=user

    Long story short...
Chosen by a higher entity, Bruugar's only orders were simple: Eliminate "The Order" of society and spread chaos throughout the planes and eventually, the multiverse. Quickly and viciously Bruugar and his horde of berserkers and juggernauts laid waste to sophisticated civilizations forcing the innocent to flee and be hunted, or, executed. Bruugar preferred execution mainly for the "higher" authorities AFTER forcing them into submission. It was then did he discover this power emerging from within after taking the will of his victims and from that moment on it became his ambition to keep this power and seek more to fuel his spark.

Here is my 1st entry its a Walker I made quite a while ago:

    One, the first Sentient

As the first Myr that gained sentience, 'One' fought in the Phyrexian War on Myrodin, sadly The plane was lost, and new Phyrexia was born.
Now 'One' searches the multiverse for a place, he can recreate his nealry lost tribe and give them a place to live a life in peace.

(as you can see his entire kit is build around creation, vitalization and renewal)

Quill is from the plane of Lowryn/Shadowmoor. During the period of tranquility and peace, his people were carefree gardeners and foragers. However, when the plane phased into a nightmarish hellscape, as the legends tell that it does every 300 years, Quill's people were put in a position no one alive was ready for. Assaulted from all sides, they became locked in daily martial contests. Soon they realized that their protective hides were their greatest assets. One evening Quill came home from a foraging expedition to find his village in flames. He rushed to his own cottage, to see to his wife and new born daughter, but found them slain. The pain that filled his heart nearly ripped him in two, the sheer power of his emotions coursed through his veins like fire, and set his planeswalker spark ablaze. He rallied the defenders through newfound sorcery of protective combat skills that both saved his allies lives and slayed his enemies. However, after the fight, Quill wished himself to be anywhere but here, the site of his greatest agony, and this wish manifested itself in a planar jump to the verdant and mana rich plane of Shandalar. Over time his emotional scars healed, heartened by the beauty of world before him, and given hope that such beauty can one day reclaim his peaceful home of Lorwyn. He has vowed to find the source of the planar shift and restore the plane its original state. His magics include protective combat and the ability to create advantage terrains, which he hopes to use to rebuild Lorwyn in the shape of his memories.

Karrus is a hound of the Temur tribe from Tarkir. Although, technically, the Temur are no more, not all of the shamans were hunted down by Atarka and not all of the ancient ways were lost. Particularly gifted in the old shamanic rites, Karrus represents one of the only hopes to restore some level of autonomy to the peoples of Tarkir from their dragon overlords. However, the persecution of the shamans continues and Karrus must constantly fight for his life through cunning and savagery, much like his people's original ways. When his grandfather and mentor was slain in the fiery maw of one of Atarka's brood, Karrus cast a spell of unrivaled power, one he could hardly control. Summoning an avalanche of immense size, he buried his grandfather, himself, and the dragon beneath a ton of ice, a fitting tomb for his dearest elder. As the frost and cold bore in upon him, trapped beneath mountain of snow, his consciousness ebbed away little by little until he knew no more. When he awoke he found himself in another world but a subconscious tug told him of a way to return home. So he planewalked home and found the great tomb of ice, and erected a monument to the Temur of the past. Narset, led by Sarkhan who knew of the ancient people, found the monument and were attacked by Karrus. However, soon the misunderstanding was resolved and now the three work together to unwrap the great mysteries of Tarkir and it's greatest planeswalker, Ugin.

Vor was a lowly processor, fated to become just another Eldrazi the Gatewatch had to kill...except he was too good at his job, exiling friend and foe alike. Ulamog was forced to remove Vor from the titan's form, lest Vor consume Ulamog by accident. Thus the planeswalker known as Vor, Mutated Spark was born!

    1st entry.

    image

An enigmatic horror from beyond any known planes, or was Nyarlathotep even came from a plane? Is Nyarlathotep an Eldrazi? Nobody in the multiverse knows for sure.

Little is known about this entity. Nobody in the multiverse also knows Nyarlathotep's true name due to its shapeshifting abilities and its unmatched powers, even Nicol Bolas himself unaware of its existence. Anywhere where Nyarlathotep treads, chaos and madness would follow afterwards.

Nyarlathotep's agenda are mostly consist of gathering followers, and of course they don't know what entity they're currently worshipping. Nyarlathotep then rewards them by giving them boons, which also aren't really good in its nature. People who received Nyarlathotep's boons normally went mad or became megalomaniac with their what were left from their little sanities.

What are Nyarlathotep's goals? Spreading madness among the multiverse? Nobody really knows what are his motives, or even Nyarlathotep's true goals. Only time will tell, or not.
