Ever notice that Urabask is a bit weaker compared to the other Praetors? This card shines a little light on that. When Urabrask was first created, he was on par with his brother and sister Praetors in terms of raw power. However, as he was so heavily conceived with red mana, he had a penchant for independence as well as self-determination for all. He was actually disinterested in manipulating the battlefield the way the other Praetors did with their abilities, suggesting he may have felt it interfered with free will. Unable to tolerate such a free spirited creation, the Vat Priests had no choice but to break him down and rebuild him in a slightly weaker, yet more manageable form.
@Gelectrode - You post the page link twice, as opposed to the page link and the image link. If you edit your post for Zur, you'll see the way it's supposed to look.
@KJMartin I sort of regret that now but I didn't realize this would catch on like it did. Plus, I'm overwhelmed enough as it is trying to judge this thing haha.
I know that the submissions are closed, now, but I've gotten extremely interested in the stories of Geralf and Gisa Cecani (as of only yesterday). I made a card of a younger, beginner Geralf Cecani, and I just wanted to display it here for viewing, since it is a prelude legendary creature. (I'm not entirely happy with the quality of the picture, but it was the closest thing I could possibly find to a younger Geralf Cecani experimenting on something.)
Alright everyone, the time has come. First, though, I just want to thank everyone for participating in my first competition. I really didn't expect it to catch on like it did but hopefully that means everyone liked it and had fun. Before I reveal the winners I just want to say how incredibly difficult this was for me to judge, there were just so many good entries. I think at least half of these made the front page at some point, really incredible. Ultimately, however, I had to choose cards that spoke to me, so here we go.
In first place: @Gelectrode with Zur the Apprentice! I personally think that the power of this card is well balanced and I love the flavor, art, and conception overall. Got to love a guy you can build a whole deck around, but would still be fair to play against. Really well done.
In second place: @runtime555 with Odric, Cathar Hero! Talk about a little guy that packs a punch. Unlike other weenies, his abilities scale up as the game progresses and you build your army. However you do have to expose other creatures to harm to trigger his ability so it is well balance. White weenies for life.
In third place: @mtgwizard9003 with Olivia, Night Child! A subtle but powerful ability that captures the Instrad red/black vampire Madness ability well. Both extremely aggressive and self damaging, it is a nice embodiment of the RB mindset.
Honorable Mentions @Superman101 with Narn, Nameless. A great card in itself and a wonderful tribute to the diversity and inclusion of MTG. Very creative.
@Katastrophecy with Geralf, Novice Skaberen. Technically past the cut off date, but I loved it and probably would have placed it in the top 3 if it was on time. Is it wrong to give it an honorable mention? Oh well, my contest haha.
Creativity Shoutouts @KJMartin with Ragavan, Mischievous Corsair. Very cool idea to create a prelude card to a token, super creative, hats off.
@Burchea with V.A.T. 164. To make a prelude to a creature that isn't a creature is a super cool idea and fits with the Phyrexian Praetors very well. Superb job.
@Castamere81 with Urabrask, First Iteration. Making a guy who is more powerful than his real version was a very creative idea, and I love the lore you incorporated into it. Really cool.
Thanks everyone, hope you had as much fun as I did. Message me to claim your prizes.

Zedruu before her redemption. I wanted to add some flavor text to make it clear she was ransoming things stolen during her raids, but alas.

Basically Adriana is waiting to be promoted to 'Captain of the Guard'. But, it takes her a lot longer than she thought it would.

Talrand essentially studied the sky at a time when it was completely alien to merfolk, meaning he was shunned, never got to be a scholar but eventually became a leader.
He had a great storyline, and very sad.
The Krallenhorde alpha when he just became one.
The Tyrant of Jund after 1st birthday.
