Using artwork

Hello,

I'm new to the site and was just wondering how you all are using this amazing artwork. Do you just download images from anywhere you want then "give credit to the artist" during the creation page? How does it work? What I'm asking is how are you all using these really awesome images without the worry of copyrite issues? Is there a website you can direct me to that most of you are using?

  • Since none of us are using someone else's copy written material to make money, the only thing the artist could do would be to request a removal. I'm not sure about you, but that doesn't scare me in the slightest. I can't speak for others but I always give the artist credit (after I've pilfered their art - almost always from http://www.deviantart.com/browse/all/ ) and then link to their art, giving them free exposure. I imagine all but the most uptight artists are totally okay with getting a little more traffic sent their way. Some of the links I've given are even to artists aspiring to be MTG artists.

I have no idea if anyone at Wizards cruises any of these sites but you never know...perhaps a card that one of us makes will be noticed, the artist contacted, and said artist gets some work. I think that artist would be eternally grateful.
  • @Looverse pretty much summed it up. Most of us use Deviant art or just search on google or yahoo. It's just that sinple
  • Awesome feedback. I'm excited to get started on this. Thanks both.
