Red (The Murghons) - Mostly Cyclopses/Minotaurs Could be a kingdom of Ruthless fighters, led by the great dragon, Gilghon. They love to fight, but are semi-unaware of the wars going on in the plane. They just show up, and try to fight for no reason. They're a little funny in the head.
Blue (The Imagites) - Mostly Illusions/Spirits A world of illusions. The place itself where everyone resides could be like a floating island, that teleports in order to stay hidden from other tribes. other clans seek it for the great power they can obtain by destroying it, but to no avail has anyone done so. Led by Jace Beleren himself.
Green (The Overgrown) - Mostly Spiders/Insects Not a particular civilization, but the insects are able to telepathically communicate, and work together. They have no real leader, but just work together to consume whatever they can. Although, were there a leader, it would likely be a huge wurm.
Black (The Stritchers) - Horrors/Skeletons/Zombies A 'guild' of mostly undead creatures, who use their own dead bodies and the corpses of their fallen enemies to fight. their leader, a powerful zombie called Tivvel, has the ability to bring the dead back to life, though they follow his command once he has reanimated them.
White (The Yrons) - Cats/Humans/Clerics These people are very similar to the leonin or the kor, but they use expensive large cat-like beasts in addition to regular soldiers when fighting. Led by the cat king Olith, these characters seek peace in the world, though they are somewhat like the Azorius from Ravnica, in that they will resort to violence to get their way.
Colorless (The Programmed) - Artifact Creatures Instead of eldrazis or elementals or something, there could be a kingdom of all mechanical creatures and golems, led by a famous artificer, who is developing new beings by the second. This group of robots is on its own, but is willing to help other clans for things in return.
@Drigglesnork - just a wee bit... the object is to name just the color and the tribe. All ideas will garner a chance to be picked and popular/duplicate votes have an additional chance to influence the final selections of the tribes and the colors
We've gotten some great suggestions so far but nothing is set in stone. Keep those suggestions coming!
We will stop taking nominations this weekend. This is so we can prepare for the contest as soon as possible.
Also, since I know this is what gets people interested, the rewards for the contest are going to include lots and lots and lots of packs. Nominating some tribes might help you get those creative juices flowing.
I think it doesn't fit, honestly. As far as I am aware, there are more white than colorless Gargoyles in magic, for reasons unknown. I just feel like we would be working with such limited space, eh - Myr would likely be more interest and as for Golems, well, there exists 64 golem colorless creature cards, and 7 Gargoyles :P
Not that that means one couldn't do Gargoyle, but, since you asked what I think... I think it would be boring. Gargoyle's never struck a chord with me when it comes to MtG - They feel like a much more Gothic-fantasy-ish creature, which generally doesn't belong in magic. except... what, Innistrad? But yea, that might just be me. Golem/Myr are much more interesting imo

Here is an extended list of what I believe defines each color. more types may be added. (No one said no humans!)
PS: the Sub represents the secondary color of that tribe, be it profession or race. PPS: I have two suggestions per color and sub-color, one race and one class. Shamans deal with recursion, Inventors are like artificers, Tormentors deal with a "X or loose Y life" idea, Daredevils are quick, Hunters have fight abilities, Foresters get more out of lands, Scavangers deal with "Exile X cards from a graveyard, Effect.", Researchers have looting and card advantage, and Monks are like Jeskai, with focus on noncreature spells.
shapeshifter (clone) is a blue-specific subtype. Shapeshifter (changeling) is an all-color subtype, @Faiths_Guide Shapeshifter (clone) is allowed, not sure about Shapeshifter (changeling)
Just curious, I assumed the blocked tribes were because they already had specific 'tribal' spells, since Shapeshifter does as well I figured they'd be banished!
If you can justify making shapeshifter a specific color or colorless, post it. This is about brainstorming, throw your wildest ideas at the screen... And then type them into the comment field and make sure you didn't break your screen.
Shapeshifter is a super cool subtype but they need abilities. All of them. A 2/2 shapeshifter that does nothing doesn't really make sense, and a color represented by "changeling" and "clone" abilities on all of its creatures would be unbalanced. So ya....Gnomes!!

+ there is this: http://mythicspoiler.com/soi/cards/thrabengargoyle.html
Faerie and Elemental aren't allowed. Side note, so are Goblin and Merfolk, no worries there.
@strongbelieves
Should Shapeshifter be squashed as well, since they were tribal on Lorwyn?
