No offense, but @TheFriendlyGeek is absolutely right.
It prevents damage, but has consequences if it is the only way you block.

Doesn't really do too much harm if you use it lightly, but if you were to use it effectivelly, you would need a lot of creatures in the graveyard, with somewhat high mana costs preferably. It depends on how much you drink your poison I guess.
