  • I think I'm disappointed by the new Emrakul. It's not the game ending power I've come to expect. And I GUARANTEE they kill her off too.

I am too disappointed by new Emrakul. It's pathetic compare to Aeon's Torn.

Annihilator alone was what made the Eldrazi really powerful. And those immunities too. Emrakul couldn't be stopped by anything, if you were not already prepared for it. Now I think the new Kozilek is probably much better then new Emrakul - with the draw and counterspells. Still Ulamog is best, due to his overwhelming abilities and that it kills library with two attacks.

That new werewolf isn't anything great either, like some pumped up Immerwolf or something.

On the other hand the new Thalia is pure Vintage material, no doubt about that.
  • My two cents:

    • To all of those hoping for a better Emrakul, I can barely sympathize with you. Were you really thinking for a card that beats a 15/15 flying, trample pro colored spells, annihilator 6, anti-mill ability and an extra turn tacked onto it?

    • Needless to say, I really love the new Emrakul. It has pro instants, the ability to waste all of target opponent's removal on it, and a gigantic 13/13 to boot. Plus, check out the full art online. I can't stop chanting "I'mrakul! Be'mrakul!"

    • The set symbol is now officially my least favorite set symbol ever made in Modern, even surpassing Guildpact and FTV: Realms for me. New Magic player: "Is that a flying house?"

    • Innistrad is doomed. Zendikar survived because the plane was born ready: the land fought the Eldrazi, the world was mana-abundant, and it had survived 2 other encounters. Now look at Innistrad: its protectors are dead and/or morphed, the mana is weak, and the only person I think that can slightly threaten the Eldrazi is Ormendahl (who is probably being corrupted as we speak). On the other hand, I am cheering for a corrupted Geralf, which would be seriously kewl.

    • That being said, I don't think Innistrad will be 'destroyed' like Ulamog did to most of Zendikar. I predict that it will turn into a nightmarish(er) world, like New Phyrexia.

    • Cards that I am calling: a UG Tamiyo, a UB Ludevic, and a Grixis Angel-Horror that is Bruna mixed with Gisela. Cards that I want: a corrupted Nahiri, a UR Legendary Devil, and a card that flips a permanent other than itself.

As far as the Emrakul thing, I wasn't expecting anything close to the original level of power, but the fact that you can't do much with this Emrakul besides throw a *small* wrench at your opponent AND give them an extra turn is a bit counterintuitive.
  • @Lujikul, you don't give them an extra turn. Rather, you get a moment to screw up your opponent's stuff, then the player reasserts control.
  • Hmmm... UB Geralf+Gisa, Colorless Brisela, and Bant Tamiyo...
  • @Gelectrode
    Predictions are hard. :-P

I'm predicting a legendary Oath enchantment for Liliana.

Storywise, I'm predicting a happy ending, but not the destruction of Emrakul. I think she'll either be driven away or locked up like she was on Zendikar, but either way saved for another Eldrazi set in five years or so.
  • I expecting that Liliana will ask the gatewatch for a favor in return for maybe killing emrakul or at least driving her away, Liliana will probably ask the gatewatch to hunt her remaining demon lords
  • Hey, I am still happy. Geralf is my second favorite character in Magic (next to Niv-Mizzet!), so I am exited to make a cool Commander deck.

  • I just love the flips - I think they are terribly creative, and the idea of wreaking an Eldrazi all over the "Transylvanian" monsters of Innistrad is freaking brilliant.

That all being said, I'm more pumped for Kaladesh :O
  • I'm actually not all that excited for Kaladesh. We've seen nothing how black and green will interact with the set.
