Custom Block Contest #2: Vryn, World of Rings
Hey all, it's time for the 2nd CBC, with the focus this time round being on the plane of Vryn, Jace's home plane, and a plane not yet touched by WOTC, providing ample opportunity for creative expression. A great choice by @Mysterious_Gangsta, the winner of CBC #1.
So, for those new to the contest, here's the brief rundown:
CBC focuses on making cards that are balance and flavorful for the set, using mechanics designed for the set or personal creativity. Cards are judged on the criteria of flavor, how well the card fits the plane and story, and mechanics, how well the card flows and works. Six submissions will be chosen for a non-prize pool called The Best of Set, and from there, the top 3 cards and an honorable mention will be chosen. For reference, here's the winning card of CBC #1: Interplanar Emissary by @Mysterious_Gangsta.
Alright, so without further ado, here is the story for the CBC #2:
Vryn, World of Rings
Mana Surge: War is a common occurance on the world of Vryn, as the Ampryn League controls the center of the mysterious mage-ring network, a target of the Trovian Separatists, a group who wishes to "free" themselves from the control of the Ampryn League. However, when the Trovian Separatists try yet another coup, something goes terribly wrong. Somehow, they activate a hidden, unknown, and ancient fail safe, shutting down the mage-ring network entirely. And as chaos begins to reign, a visitor enters the plane, finally returning to his long-lost home: Jace Beleren, the telepath. ("The World is Falling")
Revolution of the Rings: As Vryn begins to fall from the shutdown of the mage-rings, Jace takes it upon himself to right the wrongs of a plane he had called home. Joined by some denizens of the plane, and a few members of the Gatewatch, he begins the daunting task of decoding the secrets of the mage-rings. First, he has to find where the mana surges come from, to be able to understand the purpose of the rings, and second, he has to figure out the origins of the rings, to understand how they work in the first place. But, can he do it before his home falls apart? ("The World is Revolting")
Here's the mechanic (yes, only one this time):
Flux {Cost}: Whenever you cast a noncreature, nonartifact spell, you may pay {cost}. If you do, [effect].
And, as always, there's the evergreen mechanics.
Now, what people care about: Prizes!
1st Place: 4 Favorites, 2 Card Renders, and the ability to choose the focus of the next CBC.
2nd Place: 3 Favorites, 1 Card Render, and the ability to choose the focus of the next CBC, if 1st place doesn't want to.

All participants: 1 Favorite and constructive critics on all entries.
*3 enteries per set, per account*
*Must be new cards*
Round 2 will end in about 2 weeks.
Good luck to all, and may your smithing be strong!

EDITED: Also, the Seperatists didn't accidently activate something. It just happened to power down just at the "right time"

I can always change the name, if you'd like. (It won't be anything major right now though, probably just to Influx.)
Now that I think about it, I stole the name Flux from another cardsmith...
Want to see if they work for Revolution of the Rings.

Forseek: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/forseek
Since Jace had grown so much in power and he was originally for Vryn, as well as the fail safe not calculating for beings who had left the plane, he was called upon too. Could Jace's old foe prove too powerful in his new form or could Alhammarret force nightmares onto Jace from his past?
- Mana Surge
After searching the plane for some kind of reason for the breakdown, Jace comes across a few mage-rings that are bigger than any other he had seen so far. But, as he approached the gargantuan metals, they fell from old age and ill-care.
(I know this image has already been used in a proper card, but there is no fan art for the mage-rings. I had no choice (I really wanted to make this card. Lol, brackets inside brackets!).)
Searching through the wreckage, he finds what seems to be a huge mana core, and he believes that with the combined power of the four planewalkers, he could restart the mage-ring system. Suddenly, a large shadow looms over our hero and engages the mighty Jace. As he turns to confront his attacker, he is stuck back in a blast of telepathic power and fear.
Alhammarret!
The fight rages, neither side showing any sign of stopping; but as they brawl, Jace realises he must finish his foe quickly, as he sees more mage-rings fall in the distance. Letting out one final shot of power...
- Fuses with -
(This would count as one as it would be a fuse card, which are like two small cards put together to make a normal sized card. I can change this fuse card if you want as fuse is not an evergreen mechanic)
Alhammarret was now truly defeated after being destroyed in his undead form. Finally, calling upon the other planeswalkers, Jace manage to figure out the secret of the mage-rings, reactivate them and save Vryn.
(I'mso sorry for the rubbish ending but I feel like this has dragged on a bit too far; and to be honest, I can't really think of anyother way to end it. So there you go!)

focus mostly on 'what would the people do if all their mana goes away'. Seers go mad, and power is scavenged wherever it can be found.

Hmm! Gideon appears on the plane as well during ROR, only, as you can probably guess, he's not there to help Jace on his search for the truth behind the mage-rings. Instead, he's come to find Jace, and deliver justice. What for? Well, that's for you all to decide!
EDIT: And already noticing typos...the "must" in his final ability should be a "may".
And the -7 doesn't say what kind of target :P

EDIT: Here's how he fits in the lore:
When the shutdown of the rings threw the plane into imbalance, Aravaal seizes the opportunity to try to seize power by draining living beings of their mana. Luckily, this is when jace shows up and banishes Aravaal from the plane.
