Invoke: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/valyria-hope-incarnate A different take on invoke. Rather than the sacrificed creatures being victims, it's more like a noble sacrifice thing. That or she [valyria] comes faster the more people die because she wants to save them.
@Tomigon As Gelectrode pointed out on page 1, it's funny how different minds come to the same mechanic (Temerity/Flux), there's another mechanic that has been already used in a Mechanix contest, namely Quick/Swift by Noobzplaysgames, but I think there hadn't been many cards using it in the last contest, so why not use it again?
@Flatfish I misunderstood. But the point is @author of the mechanic can know when and how their mechanics are used. So we don't want to skip any mechanics.
@Faiths_Guide probably not. I think the problem is that A. He's got first strike which is a very powerful ability on its own, however, a creature with first strike and menace is very difficult to kill because you choose the order those two+ creatures are dealt damage B. He's got a secondary casting method. All in all, he's already a pretty good uncommon. (For comparison, Iroas Champion is a 3 mana 2/2 with double strike and is a very good uncommon. This is a 4 mana 3/3 with first strike and a very viable secondary casting method.) I definitely think that to add menace would make him rare
We're close to the end of the challenge, and so far I've seen some really nice cards! This one will be difficult to narrow down! 59 entries so far! http://mtgcardsmith.com/user/Corwinnn/sets/13201
Painborn - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/dirty-boggart?list=set&set=13201 There were 9 Painborn cards in total, and almost every one tried to manipulate the mechanic in some way or another. The one I ultimately picked happens to have my least favorite art of all the Painborn cards, and it belongs to @milanaarz!
Ethereal - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/wavering-heiress?list=set&set=13201 This mechanic can get crazy in a hurry, with it's ability to transform the landscape of the battlefield into a nerf-fest, and while the insanity of Despair Presence really attracts me, this easily has to go to @Faiths_Guide and the Wavering Heiress for nailing the flavor of the ability, and giving your ETB deck yet another tool in the box!
Rouse - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/protector-of-the-weak-2?list=set&set=13201 I'm not a fan of this mechanic, as it's perceived to be a downside, with a make-up effect following close behind. @tacobandit has shied away from that, and I like this idea... The only thing I might change is have the card say "3 or less" or even "2 or less" as 4 power isn't really a meek creature... and then add in some flavor text!
Feedback - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/fade-into-shadows-1?list=set&set=13201 Feedback has so many uses, but at what cost? Slap this in your creatureless UB deck and get yourself a strictly better counterspell and avoid the built in downside! I would love to see this card in action!
There we have the top cards for each Mechanic, but who wins overall? Let's take a look and see!
- Honorable Mentions - @Fantastic_Fantasy_Cards - I love that overpowered mess you call Despair Presence! What a purely evil card disguised as a sweet little harmless spirit! @TrippleBoggey3 - You mashed a lot of stuff on those cards, but the one that works really well for me in the Blackheart Ranger... Great art and a fun mix of mechanics! @ningyouNK - Nice work on Divine Mercy! A board wipe with a chance of randomness? How dare you! #everyoneisawinner - Thanks to everyone for entering! There are some really great cards in there... too many to mention all of them individually!
And now the thing we've all been waiting for!
Third Place - @Milanaarz - Dirty Boggart http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/dirty-boggart?list=set&set=13201 Ultimately I loved the way the mechanics played off of one another, despite the art that I wasn't too fond of. It's a busy card, but it all works well without being an overpowered hulk! Nice work!

Primal, Rouse, and Slow:
EDIT: Improved (hopefully): http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/thunderflux-1?list=user
You can choose it again if you win! Otherwise we don't use the same mechanic again. We have a bunch of other mechanics to enjoy! http://mtgcardsmith.com/user/Tomigon/sets/13018
Had some fun with an Aura swap change :P
Anyway, my submissions:
Primal and Feedback: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/primordial-desolation
Rouse: http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/sunbathing-fennec
(I used the first version of "Spite" which I actually like less...)
Could I have given him Menace without bumping him to rare?

Thanks for the breakdown!

Primal - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/primordial-desolation?list=set&set=13201
This is a difficult one to properly utilize, because you need to tap into the primal urge of the mechanic, and I felt @Flatfish came up with a great representation of Red's inherent need for chaos and destruction!
Ethereal - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/wavering-heiress?list=set&set=13201

Spite - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/diffusing-thoughts?list=set&set=13201
While pairing this with Madness seems like a good idea, @Feyamius didn't want to leave anything up to chance here, and decided you're going to lose a card no matter what, and that's just mean!
Quick - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/pyromancer-turncloak?list=set&set=13201
I live to ping for one, and now YOU can too! @Mordecai made a fun card using the Quick mechanic!
Temerity - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/sudden-rivalry?list=set&set=13201
More chaos from @Tomigon's mechanics, and this time I call Shenanigans on you @Faiths_Guide!
Slow - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/shuffling-undead?list=set&set=13201
Alternate flavor text: I know where they keep the humans, follow me. I like the use of slow on a creature that is supposed to be slow! Nice work @Mila
Quicken - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/opportunistic-assassin?list=set&set=13201
@tacobandit... Thanks for making this card... or else we wouldn't have a winner for this mechanic!
Golden - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/aureate-sovereign?list=set&set=13201
I was hoping for more variations for this mechanic, as it stands, this was the best we got! Thanks to @Faiths_Guide for putting it together!
Invoke - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/valyria-hope-incarnate?list=set&set=13201
@kltmtg29 - To me, this is a flavor win! Her strength is their strength, but they need hope to get stronger, and they'll do whatever it takes to get her out. I really like it!
Feedback - http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/fade-into-shadows-1?list=set&set=13201

Second Place - @Faiths_Guide - Sudden Rivalry
http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/sudden-rivalry?list=set&set=13201
"HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!" That's the sound I'll make every time I play one of these! Super fun times lay ahead!
First Place - @Mila - Shuffling Undead
http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/shuffling-undead?list=set&set=13201
I didn't have high hopes for this mechanic, afterall... it's SLOW. I think you managed to find an amazing way to make it work, and I want to see even more Slow Zombies!
