Help with wording

I'm trying to make a card to go with this wonderful artwork. I am having trouble wording the ability I came up with for it. I want the wolf to be her protector, to pounce on any would be threat then retreat back to its spirit realm.

Here is the card so far,

I feel it still needs work.

Thanks for your help

  • "Whenever Redcloak Wanderer blocks or becomes blocked, you may pay 1B. If you do, exile Redcloak Wanderer then create a black 4/4 Wolf Spirit creature token. When that token enters the battlefield, it fights each creature that blocked or was blocked by Redcloak Wanderer this turn. At end of combat, exile that token, then return Redcloak Wanderer to the battlefield."
  • Maybe instead of replacing her, it fights the creature? I don't know, the wording seems fine mostly. What exactly do you want? Better wording or a better take on the ability?
  • My idea

    When Redcloak Wander enters the battlefield, create a 4/4 black Wolf Spirit creature token. It can't attack or block and has "{1}{b}: This creature fights target creature blocking or blocked by Redcloak Wander. Remove Redcloak Wander from combat."

  • Thanks @everyone!

    @Biblio2 - I feel this is doing the job I was after much better then what I came up with, but is still quite wordy and I think that is what was bugging me about my design...

    @CrucibleOfHate - A little of both...

    @Tomigon - You've hit the nail on the head. Your idea flows much smoother then what I was toying with and is perfectly concise. Thank you
  • With Tomigon's wording a creature with hexproof or shroud eats her up and the Wolf can't do anything about it.
