Well, then try 'The invisible library' and 'Masked City'. May I ask for wich age it should be? Since I am a bookseller, I know tons of books, but great things like War of the enzyclopaedists Christopher Gerald Robinson is for a different target group than great things like 'Darkmouth' for example.
@TrippleBoggey3, Well, currently I'm reading a really good book, 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell'. It's very slow, but you might like it. My favorite book, The Gormenghast Trilogy (I know it's a trilogy, but all the novels are packed into one 1000 page tome, with writing so small you can hardly read it) is always amazing as well, although it is, again, very slow, and I don't know how old you are.
I saw the Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell Series in TV. It was great. I enjoyed reading Douglas Adams (especially 'Hitchikers Guide) and Nick Hornby ('A long way down' was great and I liked his colums about the books he read.) 'Erebos' written by U. Poznanski is translated into english as well and was really fun to read. If you liked Treasure Island by Stevenson, 'Silver' by Andrew Morton is a must have. For non-fiction readers, Bill Brysons 'A short history of nearly everything' is a very good choice. Solomonica de Winters 'Over the rainbow' was quite impressive, taking into account, she was 16, when writing it.
@KimJongMartin Well, I might look for the book and order it. I just fear, I won't have time to read it, since booksellers can't read, what they like, but have to read what's new
You're welcome. Tell me, if you liked them or not. If you want me to, I can regularly post, wich books I enjoyed and think, you could like, too. That's the best part of my job and I would do it the whole day, if people let me, recommending books.
@KimJongMartin Mervyn Peake's Titus books are some of my favorites. There is a television series from the BBC titled Gormenghast which covers the first two books (not the third unfinished one which is very different in tone). It captures everything perfectly from story to casting and especially the setting.
@Faiths_Guide: That's why I didn't write it right. I read it wrong all the time I own the book, cause I thought it had to be 'Morton'. Well, my first name is Liisa and people tend to assume, that's wrong, too, so I can also relate to him
Yeah, I watched the TV series. I thought it was surprisingly good, although, of course, they couldn't do the last book, as Mervyn Peake's health was declining rapidly as he read it, and so it makes 0 sense.

"Silver: Return to Treasure Island"
is actually by Andrew Motion
Trust me.
Isn't "Motion" an odd last name? I guess I really shouldn't be talking but...

What debate? I'm supposing the, er...Difference in our political stances?
You're in the pro-tour, doing Kaladesh draft. You bust the first pack, and look through the cards. The cards that draw your attention are:
- Chandra, Torch of Defiance.
- Longtusk Cub.
- Renegade Freighter.
- Pia Nalaar (it's foil).
- Voltaic Brawler.
Which one is the best pick?
