Is first strike under rated?

  I think the underrated argument applies to every mechanic, to an extent.

  While the above quote is true, how often does one actually draw their answers? These throw a wrench into everyone's plans, and can prove a pain in the rear. That 1/1 deathtouch will die if they block with it, but is losing your most powerful creature a chance you're willing to take? They're inconvenient, for sure.

  Well, it completely depends about the format we're talking about here. In Limited, first strike is crazy, and most people think so. In constructed it depends on what cards have it and what the meta is like.

  Believe me people are using it incorrectly. I have some friends who use it correctly, but blocking a 6/6 first strike with a 7/1?

  And I don't think it's underrated. First strike is pretty darn feared. Not that many creatures get it these days though and those that do tend to have low toughness...

  I don't underestimate first strike. It is extremely dangerous. It's the only thing that can withstand my typhoid rats! (I win an astonishing number of games with those.)

  Firststrike: 6/6 first strike fights a 8/2. Who wins? 6/6
  Firststrike deals damage before combat damage. Basically it gets to attack before other creatures get to do blocking damage to that creature

  Also reflexes is a 1 drop enchantment aura which gives firststrike which when paired with firebreathing enchantments for 1 is OP

  One of the best uses for first strike is when it's paired with wither/infect. For example, let's pretend that you have an Ashenmoor Gouger, and enchant it with Fists of the Demigod, and attack with it. The opponent pretty much has to take the 4. If they bock with a small deathtouch creature, it has first strike. If they block with a 7/7, the guy will deal the 4 -1/-1 counters to it, then the 7/7 deals only 3 damage to the Gouger, and stays as a 3/3 forever.

  @DragonFaceEater , I actually have a deck that runs four copies of both of those, since they synergize so well. It's quite fun when you're in the mood to just turn things sideways and slap your opponent silly.
