@TheFriendlyGeek and @TheRealAdam I think you need to specify that it's from your hand. Something like, "At the beginning of your draw step if you control two or more islands you may reveal Monk of two streams from your hand. If you do put it onto the battlefield." Also I think you have a double space between "two" and "or"
Whelp, we're done here bois and gals. Pretty quick a contest, only a week between start and end, but that's just how things are right now I suppose. Like this, more people should have a shot in getting their contests seen.
A little inconsistency with wording aside, a very interesting card. When I first read its name though, a defense against counterspells crossed my mind, and I got to wonder if addying such a thing to it wouldn't make the card less niche and thus, more playable.
This is a great effect, but perhaps better in a slightly bigger, Legendary-like creature. One way or another, I'd recommend addying some sort of control to this no-cost 4-creature-ETB effect.
According to Gatherer, there are currently 244 cards in Magic with "Search your library" costing 3 or less mana, and doing something like putting 4 2/1's onto the battlefield, on the end of your opponent's first or second turn, for low to no mana cost (with something like Evolving Wilds) is insane.
Nice reinterpretation of Shadows over Innistrad's theme: I was actually hoping for something like this instead of another Eldrazi wave flushing into Standard like everyone was guessing. The "Elder Terror" and play around the number 13 didn't go by unoticed, I assure you.
Although I must say, some things are a bit out of place. The two instances of evasion (Flying and Oceanic) are quite unecessary, not to mention that custom keywords should have explanatory text to them. While the Cleric-to-cast is great, the use of Forecast (a W/U ability) and the creation of W/U Clerics seems a bit out of place.
As a suggestion, I'd remove Forecast and increase the cost a bit, such as: "1ub, Reveal C'Thun, Lord of the Deep from your hand: Create a 1/1 black and blue Cleric creature token. If you control 13 Clerics, put C'thun onto the battlefield tapped. Activate this ability only as a sorcery."
Quite a shocking Morph cost, but damn, look at that synergy. Not quite sure how she'd work as a Commander, as it's not a format I'm most fond of, but she would surely allow many different Morphers in a single deck in such a singleton playing field.
I'm a bit at fault on this one, for I have already seen the entire (perhaps) Lithorian set, even though I haven't even got to play with Morph/Megamorph cards, so no surprises for me here.
A non-ridiculous Bestow cost! What? Fitting token brews and a great addition against targeted controllish behaviour (and on a set of colors I favor) it was quite a challenge for me not to put it as first place, but I had to think on it.
As great as the card's concept may be, it has a possibly unintended deadly flaw (Greek references? Anyone? No? Theros? Ok). A creature Bestowed, when targeted by a "Destroy target creature" spell, gives Idyllic Quarry's controller the option to change such a spell's target to said unicorn. The problem is, as it stands, Idyllic Quarry is not yet a Unicorn! It's an Aura spell with Enchant creature, thus not dying (as the reminder text says, "It becomes a creature again if it's not attached to a creature.")
A creative way to dodge MTG's sure policy of not printing lower CMC 2/2 Fliers. It is a bit of a work around, but fits the current Standard environment quite well with all these discard mechanics, triggers, the relevant subtype... And outside Standard, a very tempting addition to any sacrifice and/or hellbent brews. Strangely enough, there aren't that many black Spirits around.
To all honorable mentions, you may message me to favorite a card of your choice! To all winners, you may message me to favorite up to 2 cards of your choice and you are as of now, officially being stalked followed!
@Yururu Thanks for the contest and congratulations to the winners and mentions!
I tried to set the wording on Idyllic Quarry to avoid the scenario you described. I don't think you can ever redirect a spell to an invalid target (I used the clause 'if able' to reinforce that). That basically means that I can't redirect your Murder to the aura as it isn't a legal target. It's a weird effect to be sure!
Here's my profile page. If you don't find a card or two from the recent ones that pique your interest I'll happily point you to some of my personal favorites.
