  • Fair enough, stops people from helping others, only thing is I can't do my sneaky trick I do when I make bad submissions when the contest starts, then change them to good submissions when it's about to end.

    @TheFriendlyGeek.......so what happened to NO EDITING. Your 3 entries now no longer count.
  • @Butters What do you mean! I didn't edit anything!
  • edited December 2016
    I haven't even entered 3 I literally entered one card, all I did was change the picture size.
  • @TheFriendlyGeek, all entries have edited against them.
    @thenightbringer, even if that is true, in a comp where "no editing" is a rule, a message to me just clarifying if that is ok is probably needed otherwise situation such as this will occur.
  • @Butters I don't understand! I edited one of them and that was before I submitted it. You said once you sumbit an entry, you cannot edit it.
  • @Butters - Cards that are not thumbnail size are often edited by the mods to be smaller, so you may be seeing that.
  • @Corwinnn, thanks for the clarification. @TheFriendlyGeek, I was getting confused for the fact if you look next to your entries they all say they have been edited from the original post.
  • First entry:

    Worried it's to like Westvale Abbey...
  • Well, I guess its all or nothing in this round, because once these guys go up, they are set in stone. I would first like to say that, regardless of the outcome of this round, I have had a blast with this competition and thank you so much for hosting. I really appreciate your effort with detail and the rules established in this contest over all. Anyway, without further ado, my cards:

    -http://mtgcardsmith.com/view/orix-lightfruit-orchard-1
    With this last one, I really must apologize for how crammed everything is, I hope you can overlook that minor flaw.

    First submission.... I always submit good cards, in my opinions - and always get low on the leaderboard, and other cards I deem very unoriginal or cards that heavily reflect other cards abilities, or really wierd abilities that I can't picture being used. I actually go in and look for synonyms when im naming my cards, and use my full knowledge of the english language and then I see someone get top with a card with a simple name and ability and I get sad :( because I always try to make something that hasn't been done before (to my knowledge).

    First submission. Crystadel (Crystal Citadel) is a large crystal fortress that marks the edge of the western border in the plane of Verdonia, in which past that point the landscape morphs and changes, making voyage through there impossible - none can pass, thus it is known that Crystadel is the edge of the western world in Verdonia, a land full of sorcery and faith.
  • @TastyCheez, It's not that your card ideas are unoriginal. For example, Crystadel is pretty overpowered, and even though other cards might be very similar to other cards, at least in my opinion it would be better to have a card like that be the winner than an overpowered card, because playability is always the deciding factor.

    If you want advice, I would at least say that Crystadel should have the final ability be {t}, Discard a Card: Add {u} to your mana pool.

    @TrippleBoggey3
    You say that @TastyCheez 's card is OP when Urza'a Workshop seems downright disgusting. I mean, consider that card in Modern, Legacy, or Commander where energy decks are barely (if at all) competitive. It basically becomes T: Add CC to your mana pool in that case.

    Coldhaven Blackmarket is basically a 'T: Add one mana of any color to your mans pool.' land but better because you can essentially stockpile the mana without it emptying from your mana pool.

    I'm not trying to sound mean; I'm just being critical of your designs since you called someone else's card OP when yours are far more OP by comparison. I would like to mention Kamigawa's Heart is very cool flavor wise and seems balanced to me since the effect only lasts one turn and its own mana ability only adds colorless mana. So good job there!
  • @Arceus8523, @TrippleBoggey3

    In every single format, even if you're facing off against an energy deck, the workshop is disgustingly broken. ^ ^ The amount of speed you gain from getting two colorless mana turn one is insane. Look at Ancient Tomb: this card is broken in so many ways and in many decks - affinity and most vintage ones - I would rather be giving my opponent (E) than losing (2) and throwing all my steam away., I'm afraid. x)

    Not to mention you should use the new colorless mana symbol (

    ) rathet than the old one. ^ ^

    As for the others, Kamigawa's Heart seems pretty broken, or at least very, very powerful. Also I believe 'When Kamigawa's Heart enters the battlefield, lands you control gain '(T): Add one mana of any color to your mana pool' until end of turn'. Also, I think perhaps '...Have every basic land type until end of turn' may be a bit more useful, cooler and more flavorful? :) And be sure to use 'one' instead of '1' too.

    Coldhaven Black Market may be a bit too OP, and maybe not very land-ish, since it doesn't have any abilities that actually produce mana. :/ Also the grammar is wrong, and you need to use 'one', and the clauses seem to unrelated.

    @Arceus8523 @KimJongMartin

    Yes, I know I just told @TastyCheez his card was OP and I know the workshop was OP. But I only noticed it was OP after I posted it here. I'm a good person, and I don't cheat, so I didn't change my card.

    @TrippleBoggey3

    Are you suggesting @KimJongMartin and I are bad people and that we cheat? If you look at my submissions comment, you can see I have done nothing to change it. This challenge is really tough, as there are only 42 Legendary Lands in MTG's history to reference for designs and power level, so it is only natural that there are some overpowered designs, in reviewing other submissions that others put in, I am noticing some cards that are likely unintentionally OP.
  • @TrippleBoggey3, Not you guys, I only said to refer to some certain people. But I think I'll remove that part.
  • I think I finally found the art I was looking for!
  • *facepalm*

    @Butters I forgot to make mine legendary, can I fix it? (You said you decide on such things.)
