Blackened Skies Lore Trailer Description
So, every recent set in MTG has had a Lore Trailer (e.g.
). However, since I'm not nearly skilled enough to put something like that together, I simply wrote out what the lore trailer would be like.
---
Our scene opens, two men are standing before a figure who is shadowed over by the poor lighting of the room; the only light in this room is focused on the pair. "Why do you two insist on meeting with me over and over?" the shadowed figure questioned, obviously irritated, "the city has no time for your foolish pleas."
"Look, you don't ever seem to understand. We're not here because we insist on pushing our, as you call them, 'silly inventions.' We're here because our city is in danger," the taller of the two men stated.
"We need you to understand, our city is a wonderful place," the shorter, and clearly slightly younger by voice, spoke up, "we're not denying that." Visually, the scene cuts to a montage of the following art during this statement.

"But there is a growing danger that if left unchecked could bring it all to ruins!"
"You keep telling me this, but I can never find any indication that Cogsban will fall," the shadowed-over figure reasoned.
"But look up, and see a sky full of the reason," the older brother replied, "the skies are Blackened by a silent assassin that your generators and vehicles produce in mass. It will bring ruin to this city!" Visually, the trailer has cut to a montage of the following art.

"Really?" the shadowed-over figure replied skeptically, "and where is your proof?"
"Outside the city. We can find evidence of what smog—or, rather, the lack thereof—can do to an environment. This world is much bigger than just Cogsban! That's why we come not with a direct solution, though we have a few in mind, but, rather a proposal."
"Very well. If it is not the same thing you have to me the last few times, I will gladly hear it."
"My brother and I have designed a capsule that is designed to provide a mobile observatory without affecting the environment it is observing. We plan to take it outside the city and bring you undeniable proof that the blackened skies are slowly ruining our city. But, we need finds, your funds."
An annoyed sigh is heard from the shadowed figure. "If we fund this, how long will this expedition last?"
"Months, possibly years," the younger answered.
"So you're telling me that you will leave the city for many months and fetch me proof that this 'dangerous' substance is really as bad as you say it is?"
The pair nodded.
"Fine then, we will find your project, if only to get you out of our hair. Begin preparing immediately, and leave as soon as possible."
"Well, Floyd, you ready?" the taller says to his brother, leaving the viewer looking at one final piece of art.

The short period credits roll, except for the prerelease date, then there is an after credits scene.
---
There is no visual and no music. A door is heard closing and a female voice his heard. "Hector? Honey, I'm back."
An exhausted, older male replies, "I just can't keep this up."
"What do you mean?"
"I've followed Buckley and Floyd's advice since I first met them, I have made masterpieces unparalleled by any other, but they are all called unnecessarily intricate and yet still useless."
"Honey, you're thinking too small. Do what Buckley and Floyd do. Be a visionary think big." A paper is then hear being unrolled.
"Are you sure about this? It seems like quite an unstable and destructive design."
"Hector, baby, you have to understand. Anything foul can be made fair with the flip of a coin."
Within a second, the following pictures show on screen.

Finally, the prelease date is shown, concluding the trailer.
---
Well, that was it. Blackened skies is a 224 card set (of which the total does not include basic lands and tokens) inspired mechanically by Kaladesh. There is a very heavy focus on artifacts with the set being nearly 49% artifacts of some form (colored and colorless). The trailer covered the setup for the main story of the set and the after credits scene covers the basis for one of the set archetypes and a teaser to the setup of the sequel set. I'm still new at this whole set design thing; this is the first complete set I've designed, so constructive feedback is always appreciated!

Really? Is it that impressive? I thought this kind of thing was done all the time considering there's an entire forum section dedicated to it. I didnt think this custom was anything special, just something neat I've been working on over the past few months. Regardless, it's nice to hear some positive feedback on my little project. =D
At the moment, my primary focus is on writing lore. Just to clarify, what do you mean by a draft guide? Do you mean a tutorial on how to set up a draft for the set, or an explanation of the strategies?
xD
No worries! I figured as much. I'm not on edge waiting for a response or anything (I mean that with no sarcasm of passive aggressiveness).
They just lead back here because there was no better place to have them lead to. They're just there as an example of visuals.
