Origins - Create a prelude legendary creature
I thought it might be fun to have a contest that follows the same idea of the Origins set. But instead of backstories to planeswalkers I am interested in Legendary creatures. Choose your favorite Legendary creatures from any MTG set and create a prelude version. It can be younger, before a traumatic event, or whatever. I'll also give each entry a like for participating in my first contest.
Rules:
Only two entries per Cardsmith.
Must reference a real MTG legendary creature. Link to the Gatherer page for the original(s) please.
Open until the 10th of March. Judging on the 12th.
Criteria:
-Color, ability, and flavor matching to the original. It doesn't have to be just a watered down version, but your logic should be obvious.
-Overall style and balance.
-Proper MTG wording and grammer. Any edits done before the contest close do not count against you so ask for help if you need it.
-Bonus points for a cool backstory, completely arbitrary on my part.
Prizes
First - 5 likes and a follow. (2 more if I'm already following.)
Second - 3 likes.
Third - 2 likes.
Two Honorable mentions - each 1 like.
Example:
Referencing Jareth, Leonine Titan.
Have fun!

You ever hear the Chuck Norris joke, "Chuck Norris lost his virginity before his father did"?
Same goes for Jareth, he was born an adult haha
Here's my submission. This is Arcanis, a powerful Dominarian wizard on a quest to learn secret knowledge and become the most wizardy wizard who ever did wizard. He succeeded, but at this point in his story he's still got his Humanity left, and hasn't learned to cast Ancestral Recalls on demand. He's still got moves, though, to keep himself alive as he learns all that there is to know.
My lore behind him losing haste is that he got old
Sounds more OP than even Wild Nacatl!
Especially more OP than anti-trample on tokens. Which Mercyque made a clause to prevent on our cards!
Zyrelle, Hand of Uryxes
In the magic story The Truth of Names, Alesha, khan of the Mardu, is revealed to be a Transgender woman. So what better way to make a previous card of her than before she earned her War-name?
Mercyque's new favorite card!
Edit: That picture is so beautifully painted!
The art is beautiful, isn't it?
Second entry!
Yeah, the artwork is especially nice since it's so calm and lacks red!
What site did you get the artwork from? We searched the artist up, but found a DeviantArt account without it. That and it's a more popular search term.

(Side note could someone help me with posting images? I can't figure out how for the life of me.)

In the original lore, Gwafa Hazid was a lower caste member on the plane of Bant who eventually became master merchant of the Grand Caravan. I decided to depict him as a younger squire who hadn't ascended to his full potential yet.
Also, he's the leader of my favorite EDH deck. ^_^
