I like it if it doesn't say "may", and discard "that many cards". And skulk isn't used in red card, but it fits this creature.

By the way, it's always a card that deals damage. So you have to write damage source. "Shock deals 2 damage to target creature or player." is correct. Not "Deal 2 damage to target creature or player." Old cards don't say damage source, but that's wrong now.
Think about this: If an enchantment says "Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, it deals 2 damage to target creature or player.", that damage source is that creature. Not an enchantment. So if you want to prevent the damage by protection, you need protection from that creature. Not an enchantment. You can only know it if you know the damage source.
