The Governor was on the ground, crying.
    He knew four things.
1-He had just seen half of his city destroyed.
2-The merfolk had most likely sent a scout to inform the Great Cities about his losses.
3-He didn't know where his daughter was.
4-What was left of the city's militia couldn't possibly withstand another attack.

After he collected his thoughts, he decided that the best way to even have a chance of surviving is by going to Pardwright University and reading up there. From what he had seen, because of the spectral guards that patrolled the University, the interior of the building had escaped severe damage. When he arrived, he noticed that a good portion of it now served as the main shelter for survivors.
"Hey Torq!" a young looking native yelled.
"What do ya want?" Torq replied.
    "I'm Tivi!"
He knew that name. He had heard that Dariad had been talking with her lately. Upon further communication, Torq found out that just about every member of the original city guard had been slain, and those currently protecting the city were almost entirely composed of reserve soldiers, common peasants, and Tivi's own "battalion", or that was what she called it, anyway.

    ---Later---

After reading up on the history of Hathalborn, Torq decided to go to the one place of nearby documented planeswalker activity. He had read that there was an ancient tower on top of one of the border hills, and that there had been sightings of strange lights there. It was also very near where another tome said that a being named Iluz lived. This couldn't, he thought, be a coincidence. Taking a group of about 10 soldiers with him, he set off to this tower, and started his journey to do what his daughter said she would do.
He needed to find a planeswalker.
And that was when he glimpsed back, saw another orcish assault beginning, and with a heavy heart took his first step into the Cloudwood.
  • By the way...
    @KJMartin
Hey, if you're going to start something, you might as well help it finish up. Seriously.
    (YOUR PEOPLE NEED YOU)
  • The wabbits aren't the heroes we need, but the heroes we deserve! XD
  • bumping again
  • Area: Flint
Focus: Ivana and Derrick, along with Calensis/Tsana, returning to Flint.

Ivana, Derrick, and Calensis walked swiftly down the path towards Flint. The city was obscured by trees for the most part, but the three companions caught glimpses of buildings through gaps in the foliage. The trees began to thin, and they stepped out of the Cloudwood, expecting to see the radiant city in all of its glory, practically glowing in the sun.
What met their eyes instead was a jumbled mess of destroyed buildings and hovels made from wreckage. The Stray River flowed sluggishly, choked with ash and rubble.
Horrified, the three companions picked their way through the mess towards the governor's mansion.
About an hour later, they arrived on the slender peninsula that connected Torq's island to the rest of Flint. They found the road barricaded and soldiers standing guard over the ostentatious building.
One warrior, who Ivana identified as Captain Thornsen of the Governor's Guard, stepped forward and opened his mouth to challenge them, but quickly shut it when he saw Ivana and Derrick. The Captain greeted the two travelers joyously, and ushered them along the walk while Calensis was patted down by a guard.
Two soldiers flanked the newcomer as the party entered the governor's mansion. Ivana and Derrick were happily greeted by Torq, and both travelers shed their heavy packs with sighs of relief.
Then Torq looked over Calensis. His gaze traveled up, from the man's scuffed boots to his sloppily shaved face and chin. After a moment, the governor turned and said to a nearby guard, "Billet this man in a guest room." Then, as Calensis was escorted out of the entry hall, Torq told Ivana and Derrick, "Come into my office and we will discuss this man further. I presume he is the mage you were looking for?"
With a furtive glance around, Ivana responded, "He's a Planeswalker."
Tor took a sharp breath and exhaled slowly. "That increases both his value and the risk he poses. But I am afraid we don't have the time to be picky. As you probably saw, almost half of Flint has been destroyed. The orcs are on a rampage. The natives are rebelling. Many of our missionaries, including Dalthor, are dead. The merfolk have withdrawn. And the people of Flint are demoralized and scared. We need to win this war, and fast."

(What will Calensis, a.k.a Tsana, do? When will he drop his disguise and make his final moves?)
  • @MagicChess
So, I presume, Torq didn't find anything at Iluz's tower?
  • @Undella2, uhhhhhhhhh....
No, I guess? I totally forgot about that XD
  • Someone can write a story about Torq's finding at Iluz's tower.
  • Sorry @Everyone for my inactivity.
This contest is now over. Judging should be done by the end of the week (or perhaps slightly later).
  • Well that ended abruptly. I'ma just post a bunch of filler like I did before for the sake of it.

  • @KJMartin, what? We never found out what happened with Tsana!
  • edited April 2017
@MagicChess - A body was found. It was deep in the Scarcrag Hills, back where most people fear to go. No one knows for sure if it was Tsana, but the rumors are that it couldn't be anyone else. The way the body was twisted and mangled couldn't happen to a person, outside of some supernatural force. There is even one persistent rumor that Demons were involved. This might be due to the various whispers that smoke rose from the body for three weeks after it was discovered.
Some say it was an elaborate hoax, but to what end?
  • @Corwinn, nobody except Dariad knew that Tsana existed.........
  • @MagicChess - Are you accusing Dariad of committing this heinous crime?
    XD
  • @Corwinn, lol! Dariad is deader than a doorknob, thanks to Tsana.
What I mean is, Tsana was disguised as Calensis, who Torq and Ivana recruited to help quell the native rebellion in Flint. Tsana's goal is to sow chaos and destruction throughout the plane, and presumably his first major move would be to kill two birds with one stone: have the natives overthrow Flint, while simultaneously weakening their forces. We can assume that he has some sort of master plot that involves killing/impersonating Torq, or something like that.
I'm just saying that the story didn't end.

lol and here I had tried to tie in everything by at least creating the "skeleton" for Tsana (though I originally aimed to piss off everyone to put Credius in here xD) which was a good creation for this purpose btw @MagicChess
  • @KJMartin
    Slightly later, you say?
    ...
    huh...

There's a lot of other contests/challenges starting recently so we don't expect a quick response. Be patient! :)
  • @modnation675, true.
Speaking of new contests and challenges, I hope we get another Worldbuilder!
  • Chill, chill, everybody. My schedule was interrupted by a short "vacation" in which I was staying in a house with no internet :)

    Results should be up soon.
  • Winners are finally here!

First Place - @Lujikul with "Embodiment of Plague"! https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/embodiment-of-plague?list=user
A truly bloodcurdling card, with a very interesting and powerful ability, while remaining balanced.

Second Place - @sanjaya666 with "Cecilia and Omaya"!
    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/ceclia-and-omyala
A fine card, maybe a nice commander. The lore was pretty nice as well.

Third Place - @Death_Methods with "Chancy Lumberjacks"!
    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/chancy-lumberjacks
I don't think there's much to say apart from this being one of those cards you could really imagine finding in a pack.
