Image & Link Posting! (Feature Request.)

edited March 2017 in Off-topic Chat
Hello fellow Cardsmith users and staff,

We're looking to have specific features implemented on the Cardsmith site in regards to image/link posting. Both for the use on the Cardsmith forums and other external websites. The features we're referring to are having buttons on the User Card Pages to quickly get the required text to make a link to the user's card page and display the card's image. Along with that function we are looking to have it display options on image size and type of measurement used. (as well as a default size value!)

Below are some elaborations on the features requested. We also hope that fellow users of these forums will have some ideas on features relating to the ones mentioned above! :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Format: <a href="Card Page"><img src="Card Image"></a>

In addition to the basic options shown above, we would like to have the html code for the card images have a required size option with a default value.

Format: <img src="Card Image" width="30%">

Or based on image dimensions for other websites and purposes

When clicking these buttons and any options are selected, we would like the respective html code to be copied to the user’s clipboard so they may paste it via their device’s paste options.

Upon thinking over how these features will work, we notice that additional implementation will vary to provide these features on mobile and desktop devices. As such further implementation should be decided by your website’s developers. Below is a list of other ideas that could be implemented with these features.

1) Visual example of how the size compares on the Cardsmith forums.
2) Drop down options for sizing the image, including image size and measurement.
3) Alert confirming that text has been copied.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We hope that you will be able to provide features similar to those mentioned in this post. This would make it much easier and convenient to newer users of the forums in regards to referencing the Cardsmith site.

Thank you for your consideration on these requested features. We’re very happy with the recent updates to the Cardsmith site and forum features!

  • I second on @Modnation675's opinion.
  • Thanks we're just hoping to get some additional opinions in the case that additional reworking of our idea is possible.

We'll be messaging some other Cardsmiths to see if they have anything they would like to add! :)

Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask if any of you have any ideas or opinions on the aforementioned features!

If not, you may ignore this message.
  • This is a pretty nice idea.
I've added a spot on the FAQ page with links to the Forum Posting Guides that we currently have, in order to help new users find things a little easier.

Thank you, I'm looking for ways to streamline the interactions between the forums and base site. This one being one of the less intensive things to implement.

Hopefully the other one we posted is feasible as well.
  • I'm kinda scared to find out what the "more intensive" things are!

  • Oh... LoL! I thought there was more!

Definitely not, I know how much effort it takes as I'm taking a computer programming course at college.

But if you ever want more ideas, I can post some more! JK. (That would be too cruel!)
  • I've done some programming and I don't believe it would be too difficult.

Yeah. Since the format doesn't actually change it's more towards how you want to make it look on the website.

But I would like if they added the option for it to be based on percentages. As well as pixel width/height for use on external sites.

The other feature I mentioned at this link is much more of a long term development than this one though.
