You know what? I'm glad I only got 6 entrants, that's a lot of mechanics. As there is as no competition, you all get automatic first place. Dash- @Brainifyer Delve- @Gelectrode Raid- @Faiths_Guide Rebound- @HenryTheHatter Spell Mastery- @pstmdrn Madness- @Odogom
@KrampisZman Yeah but Ian said "lot of recent standard-legal sets have had random filler mechanics that fell flat?" Well it's an old mechanic from an old set that they were revisting.
@Faiths_Guide Crop-Mate Charger - While this is a cool idea and no doubt has a home somewhere, I find to be a rather underwhelming card coming from you.
Arat and Aria - Now that's more like it! These extra combat phase cards always confuse me though. Does this say you get to attack three times in one turn, because if so, that seems a bit much.
@Gelectrode To New Depths Following in the wake of the Treasure Cruise are we? I'm sorry to say it, but it looks like your card could be very easily broken.
@Brainifyer Bloodshadow Rampager This guy is cool. The only reason I wouldn't play him is because both his costs are too expensive.
Bloodshadow Mystic This card is an incredible boon to any madness deck, as you could use it to get a significant mark-down on any madness spell by throwing in a 2/2 token. And it's repeatable!
The Rest The rest of your entries are woefully undercosted for their effects.
@HenryTheHatter Return to the Past This needs help. A single extra turn can cost 7-9 mana, but not two turns, back-to-back. That should cost somewhere around 15, like Ermrakul, another game-ender.
Hopeful Light I like this card, it is perfect for heroic, and itserves a purpose in any board stall, which is nice.
@Ogodon Asportation I see where you are going with this, but I think you have the wrong color for madness, which is red/black nowadays.
@pstmdrn Spellwild Druid If only this guy had infect. This guy is of course beautiful anyways with a graveyard of pump spells, but still. Turn 1: Elvish Mystic, Turn 2: Spellwild Druid, Turn 3: Might of Old Krosa x2, Groundswell, swing for 16 damage.
@IanLowenthal It only gives one additional combat phase. If you attacked with a creature, you can cycle it or cast it (for an ETB) to get the extra combat phase.
Also, I think this site as a whole espouses the (often faulty) really complicated cards and loses sight of the (very necessary) simple and well designed commons. I'd be happy to take the Crop-Mate Charger in draft often enough.
@Faiths_Guide I agree, but it's sort of a case of reality not meeting expectations. When I created this contest, I expected the entries to extravagant and excessive, or at least somewhat impressive and unique. The thing is, you made a card anyone could make, and you usually enter really cool and unique cards. (Also I only play constructed, as no-one in my playgroup enjoys limited, so that is a bias.)
Also, it is possible to make an interesting and unique common. I like these a lot. The ones that look simple and honestly a little useless until you look closer, when they suddenly become key components of your deck.
