Return of Future Sight (Judging Complete)

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of what was arguably one of the weirdest sets in Magic history; Future Sight. This is mainly because R&D tried to predict the future of Magic, from new keywords to entirely new card and subtypes. Some, such as delve and the tribal type, were very successful and made their way into future sets and blocks. Others, not so much. In this contest, your job is to take any of these "future" concepts, and bring them into the present.

Instructions:
1. Go to this Wizards article: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-now-g5-27-attachment-2007-04-30
1.5. (Or go to this page if you don't like reading: http://mtg.gamepedia.com/Future_Sight#Mechanics)
2. Choose any of the new mechanics invented in the block (not newly keyworded or reused mechanics).
3. Make a card out of it!

Ex:

Rules:
1. Must use one or more of the "future" mechanics from Future Sight.
2. No old cards allowed!
3. Correct formatting and syntax. While I won't take too many points off for this, try to make it look professional!
4. No entry limit; put in as many as you want!
5. You may replace and edit your entries any time and any amount you want before the judging date; just be sure to notify me if you do so.
6. Have fun!

The last day for submissions is June 14. Judging will take no longer than a week afterwards. I may shorten or extend the deadline or judging time based on the number of entries.

While I don't really like to give out favorites (recognition should be more than enough), 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be added to the -HALL OF FAME-! If there are enough people, I will also name honorable mentions.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. With that said, happy smithing!

I really have no idea, if the balancing is fine, since it can be pretty unpredictable :D
  • I did make a grave storm card or two for a set a while back. I know no old cards allowed, but I'll just put them here to be looked at. I'll make some other gravestorm cards later.

My favorite of these mechanics is still Fortify.

    I don't know why that isn't hyperlinking...

@ningyounk Did you use Magic Set Editor to make them?
  • @sanjaya666 I did! =) Though you can see the regular MTGCardsmith version by clicking on them, the Future-Shifted thumbnail is just for show ;)

    @MrRansom
How grand those gnats are! The "have any number" text should come first (before flying). That, and old cards aren't allowed.

    Notion Waste, *ThumbsUp*!

@Faiths_Guide, thanks for pointing out the rule about old cards.
Not sure how I missed it, but I'm glad you didn't! :D

I am using the concept of 'innovative cycling', like Wizardcycling or Slivercycling. Here is a big twist on the mechanic: Commoncycling!

Oh, that's a useful card! I just think of all the pauper decks I'd like to have that in.

Note that if you're in a multiplayer game, you don't have to fateseal each other. Anyway, this is a mind game; you can try to predict what your opponent will do to counter their spell, or you could just try and mess up their curve. But we can go deeper! You could predict that your opponent might try to mess up your curve, and do the same to them! Get sneaky! Get blue! Get Larksmith for the low low price of 1UU!
  • Entry 1: Absorb. Immediately I thought about a wall of sponges absorbing attackers. I changed it to ooze and wanted something that would slow down aggro decks.
    image
Entry 2: Frenzy. Frenzy utilizes unblocked attackers- and so does the ninjutsu mechanic. Let's make a ninja that utilizes both.
    image
Entry 3: Gravestorm. This mechanic would be benefited greatly from board wipes. I wanted to make something that would punish those players in multiplayer commander games that do nothing but consistently clear the board.
    image
Entry 4: Fateseal. The evil scry. I wanted a wizard that would utilize both mechanics.
    image
Entry 5: (something)cycling. I wanted a zombie that could be used in different ways. Is this a card only to be used as a zombie tutor? Is this a card we could help utilize in sacrifice decks? Both?
    image
Entry 6: Fortify. Land creating more land. That couldn't get out of hand or anything

@Doraj9 On the MTG card maker, select your text and click on the green "italics" button above the text box where you write the rules text. Or you can simply write < i > before the part to be italicized and < /i > (without the spaces) at the end :)
