Tears of Terriaum: Make your own card challenge
Come one and all Card Smiths and welcome to the Tears of Terriaum Custom Card Challenge.
Before going further, I highly recommend going to my official custom set page. It’ll give you a better idea of the mechanics and story of the set.

So what I’m doing here is allowing people to add their own cards to the custom set I am working on. No mtg set was designed by one person and it always helps to get introspection on one’s work.
This will still be a contest, as I will be picking the best of the best to go into the set.
Rules of the Contest:
Card Types being judged:
-Creatures
-Artifacts (Artifact Creatures will be judged as CREATURES, not artifacts)
-Enchantments
-Instants/Sorceries
-Lands, basic or otherwise.
Only 2 entries per card type, but you may do any number of card types.
Please credit the artist if possible and try to forgo using official magic the gathering art.
I will not be judging cards with mechanics from other sets (energy, delirium, fateful hour, est.) unless they are the mechanics found in the set (will be listed below). Vanilla mechanics are also fine (first strike, life link, prowess, menace, est.)
If you or I find something wrong with the card, wording or effect wise, I’ll allow you a single chance to redo and resubmit the card. You must request this change or have it be given to you.
How I will be judging the cards in order of importance:
#1: Flavor. Above all else, the card needs to match the atmosphere of the world of Terriaum.
#2: Balance and Flexibility: Obviously the card needs to be balanced but the main mechanics of the set, and how I want it to be played, is have it be flexible to multiple different play styles.
#3: Art: Still like to see artwork that is attractive and fitting to the set.
Rewards:
Each card type will have a single winner and be added to the official set. I will credit you for your card being added and in addition I will favorite 2 other cards of your choice.
Also if I do find a card that I really liked but just didn’t make the cut, I will have it as an honorable mention, favorite and favorite another card of your choice.
Good luck to all. For now I am keeping the submission date open. But I will give a 5 days notice as to when I will be closing submissions.

Upturn: Lets you exile a card from your graveyard to add colorless mana to your mana pool. However you may only use that mana to cast spells of the same type as the card exiled.
Mechanic Wording “Upturn [C] (You may exile this card from your graveyard to add [C] to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to cast a spell of the same type as the card exiled.)
Crystal Auras/Animate: Crystal Auras are simply normal auras but have their own set of support cards, plus always turn the enchanted creature into an artifact and an additional creature type. They also have the mechanic of Animate, allowing you to pay a low cost to create a 0/0 spark creature token and then attach the aura to it.
Mechanic wording: “Animate X (Create a 0/0 colorless spark creature token and attach this aura from your to it)
Nightmare: Creatures with nightmare transform whenever they enter the battlefield under the control of a player that isn’t its owner. The actual mechanic of nightmare activates whenever a creature with it dies and it’s then returned to the battlefield under target opponent’s control. The transformed cards all have negative aspects about them, but most often can be exiled from the game if the controller pays a certain a cost.
(Note that the creature transforms WHENEVER it enters the battlefield under an opponent's control, not just with the nightmare trigger)
Mechanic wording: Nightmare (When this creature dies, return it to the battlefield under target opponents control.
Yes, that's true. Although I think the idea of colorless mana only is more balanced due to its limitations.
