The Legends' Descendants
A long time ago, in the third expansion set of MtG, we were first introduced to named characters with backstories; the first legendary creatures.
This set was fittingly called "Legends", and it sported Rubinia Soulsinger, Rasputin Dreamweaver, Tetsuo Umezawa, and other colourful people.
I'd like to see your take on what remains of these great names today.
Wizards has already done similar stuff: There's literal descendants (like Korlash is Dakkon Blackblade's heir), shifted versions from a time-twisted alternate reality (like Jedit Ojanen), or similar.
Now it's your turn.
I'll give you as few guidelines as possible:
• Has to hold up with nowaday's powerlevel without being over the top.
• Has to be a possible commander.
• Has to have a connection to its forerunner (style, flavor, type and/or name).
You can find the original legends here:
http://magiccards.info/query?q=t:legend+t:creature+e:lg&v=card&s=cmc
Also, don't feel forced to go all mythic powerhouse on these; the original legends' rarity varies from common to rare, so you have all the room to do what feels right in that regard.
I will leave feedback on each entry, and favourite the ones I like the most.
The top 3 will be nomintated on the first of June.
Until then, go make some cards!

This card does a great job at drawing the connection to its ancestor in terms of gameplay, and puts it in a shape that's worthy of a modern-day legendary angel.

The only one to introduce a new keyword, and the only uncommon among the entries, this card's simplicity makes it stand out.

For being the most creative entry in terms of gameplay. The challenge was to make a commander, and this one here makes for the most interesting of the bunch to build a deck around. Well done.
And that's it :V
I'm positively surprised that there weren't really any bad cards among the entries - sure, some may have bumps here and there, but none of them is a terrible design.
Another surprise was that no-one dared to make a non-creature card; I was expecting at least one commander planeswalker, to be honest :P But yeah, there's always next time.
For now, I thank you for participating, or just riding along.
The contest is now closed.
Have a nice day, and see you around.
No-one will notice that this is one day late.
