@sanjaya666, yeah, the last ability in my version was to represent using music to talk. Reveal a card, it can attack... that sort of thing. This is much cleaner.
@Lujikul Then you're always bound to use cards that grants you the psylian life or else it would be useless. Kinda too strict for a legendary, isn't it?
@sanjaya666 Note that cards don't use set mechanics of they aren't part of the set. For example, Tireless Tracker has landfall but doesn't call it landfall.
@ningyounk Hey, shouldn't you change the aven-sculptor guy to another, more generic race because it is impossible to find the art that can fit with the description unless you draw it by yourself.
@sanjaya666, my intent with building an aven character was to have as much diversity in our group as I could. Avens are a pretty big race in this set, so it makes sense to have one. Also, there is plenty of good art for avens; one sculpting something might be harder to find. While the card image would ideally show the character sculpting, it doesn't have to.
@MagicChess On Maren: The fact that it relies both on psylian life and Art creatures without producing either psylian life of art creatures itself makes it feel more like an uncommon than a legendary creature to me. It's extremely parasitic, it looks more like a directional reward for draft, which probably shouldn't be its role I think.
@sanjaya666 On Maren: The use of "Compose 1 three times" makes it very close to the red legendary. I think we should probably design them all at once like we're doing with the Muses so we're sure that they feel different enough. Like planeswalkers, the important part is to make them feel unique, their abilities should be their signatures, they should describe them ^^
On Ekoma: I really like the flavour text. Once again, this version of Ekmoa sounds quite agressive and relies on Compose. A 3/4 for 2 in Bue sounds very extreme, she's not a God XD
@everyone We have a limited number of slots for each mechanic, so when we use Rare slots with a set mechanic it really have to be a seriously interesting twist on the mechanic. We can't put a set mechanic on every card of the set. If we want to make them a Compose cycle, we should probably think about how each colour twists the mechanic at Rare before making each individual card. If we want the legendary characters to be some more out-of-the box cards, then we should probably try not using any set mechanics on them.
E;g: 1) Jennel is a supportive character. She boosts your team in some original way. 2) Ekoma is mute and talks through music. She's peaceful (no agressive ability) and show you cards in her hand to do stuff. 3) Kehdrah is a plagiarist. He copies/steals/reanimate your opponent's stuff into art, maybe by fusing them together. 4) Salendi is... well for now she's Chandra which is problematic. Let's try to find her a more distinct identity as far from Chandra's as possible. For instance, she's not about fire but about speed, she's fast as a lightning. 5) Maren is a wise character. He probably gives you card advantage while staying in green's boundaries. Maybe he's about animals?
@sanjaya666 I you can keep those versions it's useful to follow the conversation and picture the progression of each concept, but I understand if you really want to keep your portfolio for your finished cards of course (I personally use a separate accounts for the concept cards of this project.) Sadly we don't have the artworks, we trusted that if we picked common enough races we'll be able to find something reasonable in the end, but if we can't find a good aven picture we're going to have to reconsider its race. I'll try to find something, have you looked into the fanarts of the bird-people in the Legend of Zelda maybe?
@sanjaya666 The art could work for me! She looks quite fierce! Flying tribal is an original concept, I could see that being a signature but I'm just unsure if it fits the character (the other characters don't fly.)
@Faiths_Guide Ah thanks, it's harder to tell without the Deviantart keywords, I knew this was bound to happen ^^" I removed it from the list ^^
@sanjaya666 Yeah it's quite hard to find a fitting one, for now I do like the one you found better, it's just slightly more cartoony than what MTG recent style have been. But it's always cool to explore different options, on the last one it's not even an aven it's a human on an owl x)

Fixed it.
You get psylian life through various effects.

Alright then. Someone could make that card because I can't find the fitting art at all.
Also, here's the last change for Ekoma.
Lore: Ekoma finally gets her sh*t done because she's tired for being pushed around by the others. Lol.

Still can't find the good art for the aven guy though. I suppose you already have the artworks, do you?
