Conspiracy set for 5 player team games after draft gatewatch turn evil.

With Hour of Devastation having Nicol Bolas defeat the Gatewatch, I thought it would be cool if Bolas used mind control magic to put the Gatewatch under his control. Ajani overhears the Gatewatch being evil, and leads 4 planeswalkers against the gatewatch, Tamiyo, Sorin, Ess Nelek, my sliver planeswalker, and Garruk, who got raised from the dead. Bolas has 5 schemes for the Gatewatch to accomplish on 5 different planes. On Innistrad, he wants the Gatewatch to release Emrakul from her prison in the moon, so she can devastate the plane, and then travel to Zendikar, he wants them to help Emrakul to create new versions of Kozilek and Ulamog. On Theros, he wants to destroy the Gods, so that he can rule the plane as the only God. On Ravnica, he wants them to create an eleventh guild with his Eternals, and on Tarkir, which Narset had caused to become the Khans present again, he wants them to unite the clans into one big clan, and then use his Eternals to destroy it.

Comments

  • This set is a set with a lot of reprints from the planes where Bolas's schemes take place, and it is designed for 10 player drafts followed by a 5 player team game against another 5 player team, it has drafts matter cards like in Conspiracy sets, and it has a lot of returning mechanics like in Masters and Commander sets.
  • Another reason why I came up with this idea is because I hate the Gatewatch. I don't hate the individual planeswalkers, I just think it is stupid to have a team of planeswalkers, so I want them to become evil.

Um, I don't think Garruk is dead... He's veil-cursed and extremely evil... And Sorin is currently slowly dying in Markov Mansion from being pierced by Nahiri's stone pillars... And 5 different planes in one set? Unless this is like Origins...
Sorry, I just noticed some discrepancies.
  • ^I agree. I think that Sorin is a. probably dead (sorry to be cynical) and b. If he's not, I'm pretty sure he's more worried about finding Nahiri over fighting Bolas.
Second, I don't think that Narset would revert Tarkir back to the khans because it's not in her character. She, as a planeswalker, is someone focused on enlightenment and the the finding of truth, rather than the takeover of her home plane. Also, I think that she still has a lot of respect for Ojutai, and would not rise against him.
Tamiyo, very much like Narset, is focused simply on the accumulation of knowledge, so I doubt she would be all that inclined to help (especially since she refused to join the gatewatch). I also think that she's far too worried about what happened when she locked Emrakul in the moon to care about Bolas (the fact that Emrakul mind controlled Tamiyo, and then completely rewrote the spell), so I don't think that Tamiyo would care about Bolas.

And considering that Emrakul trapped herself in the moon, I highly doubt anyone, even Bolas, can break her out (this is my pure theory here). It just seems like the players wouldn't be able to line up as such

Also, I don't think Bolas' schemes include being the only god on Theros. He's not that vain.
And I bet this set would have over 5 million legendary creatures.
  • All the core sets had multiple planes. And Ajani saves Sorin from his fate at Markov Manor. Sorry I do not know M15 that much, having bought almost no cards from it. I thought that he was killed by the other planeswalkers.
  • I thought the core sets were all Dominaria, @urtar370.
  • Not recently, M15, M14, M13, M12, M11, and I think M10, all took place on multiple planes. Back before I started playing, they were all on Dominaria, before M10.

How about this: Ajani saved Sorin from his prison because he needed a teammate (to fight the gatewatch obviously), then they both travelled around to fight Nahiri and finally killed her.

Indebted to Ajani, Sorin then travelled together with him to get another member, and found the OC planeswalker guy, whose motive was unclear but still he followed them.

They three then unluckily encountered Garruk, but together they finally killed him. Then he got raised from the dead by the Sliver guy because they needed an extra muscle.

After some time travelling around, they also met Kaya, the ghost assassin, for some reason, and finally persuaded her to help the team because if Bolas win, Fiora would also fall within his grasp.

Ta da, 5 walkers finally done.
  • I have decided for this set to be drafted with my More Magic Origins set, so I have put some synergy with that set into this set

Aww why does Nahiri have to die? (I have to say that Nahiri is actually like my second favorite planeswalker only behind Narset. And while I do think that she was completely misguided in taking her vengeance, it was partly justified. I mean, Sorin was basically a father figure to her, and when she called for help he practically ignored her, and then sealed her in a prison for like a thousands years in which time her people were literally slaughtered. I'd be equally as mad I think.)

I, personally, think that Ajani would be more likely to work with Nahiri than with Sorin (I think nahiri did a lot of very good things even though her previous ploy with Emrakul often overshadows that work, like stopping Ob from literally going beserk on any plane he wanted.)

Anyways, this in the end just becomes personal opinion and is up to the creator of the set
