Leandra paced back and forth in the empty theater, nervous, yet excited. It'd been a week since Tiamat's second victory in the arena. She'd been doing a large amount of reading to this end, wanting to ensure everything worked out properly. By far the most difficult part had been finding participants. Dejection and silence was the greeting from many to the proposal. However, she eventually found willing participants. Six was all she needed. They'd been spending almost every waking moment in that week to prepare, and despite her confidence, she still couldn't help but find herself growing apprehensive.
"Don't look so nervous, Leandra." Fedron strides up to her. "You've done the best you can do. I have no doubts that this'll be a success. It's exactly what Legorna needs at a time like this."
Before long, a small crowd had assembled, sitting down in front of the stage of the theater itself. It couldn't be put off any longer. Leandra walks out onto the stage in front of the crowd. "First of all, I'd like to thank you all for attending tonight. Tonight is a very special night. For the first time in years, a story will be told, but not with just words or writing. But rather, with performance! Please enjoy yourselves as we present... "The Tragedy of Decoatus." It was a story that most apparently learned at a young age. She gives the silent crowd a small bow, and exits stage right.
SCENE ONE
The curtains unveil, the opening scene beginning with two women sitting next to a table, one with a chalice, the other with a lyre. A man donned in plated armor with a sword at his hip walks in and up to the women. The one with the chalice quickly stands up, and turns to face him.
Friyena: Oh! Decoatus. How nice of you to join us. Please, feel free to take a seat. (Gestures to a third, empty, chair)
Decoatus: I appreciate the offer, but I'm afraid I'm too busy at the moment. I just wanted to pay a visit, as I do every day. (Does a small bow, before returning to standing upright)
Friyena: You certainly do adhere to your own principles more strictly than any of the mortals do.
Decoatus: I do my best. For now, I must be off. (Exit stage right)
Friyena: (Sits back down)
Keralda: You know, the mortals, in thier journey to produce new songs and stories, have been predicting a kinship between you and Decoatus.
Friyena: He wouldn't be the worst, for sure. He's the most strongly willed, loyal being I've ever known.
Keralda: Agreed. Even the mortals that follow his teachings struggle, but he does not. (Stands up) However, I must take my leave for now. Terrodus is always too busy to visit the rest of us, so I'm going to go see how he is doing. (Exit stage right)
Friyena: (Musing) Hmm, Decoatus...
As she speaks, the curtains close, and rustling and the occasional heavy thump can be heard as furniture and objects are moved around for the scene transition.
The curtains unveil on an older man in drab, pale grey clothing, clearly Terrodus, standing in front of a backdrop representing a barren wasteland except for a line of crudely drawn people. Besides him is a large cube draped in black cloth, and, based on the movement of the cloth, someone is inside, constantly shifting, and evidently uncomfortable. Keralda enters from the right, carrying her lyre.
Cube: (Agonized screaming)
Terrodus: Yes, yes. I know that you can feel only pain and torment. I cannot help you, though. (Does a small wave and a figure in a cloak quickly walks across the stage, exiting and leaving at a brisk pace)
Keralda: How goes it Terrodus? Any resistance from the dead, today?
Terrodus: No, no resistance. In fact, they've been pretty complacent, almost in a rush, actually. I can't imagi-(Interrupted by screaming from the cube. He turns to face the cube momentarily) I've told you, I can't help you! (Turns back to face Keralda) I can't imagine how scary this must be to the mortals, to be absolutely nowhere. I don't blame them for making a speedy exit. (Waves again, and the cloaked figure dashes across the stage once more)
Keralda: I see that your other task is, well, exciting as ever. (Gestures to the black clothed cube) Has he calmed down at all?
Terrodus: Of course not. Why did I even take this duty upon myself, anyways? (His voice grows louder) Why not Decoatus? Everyone already sees him as a great hero, why not put him on an even higher pedestal? Let him guard this poor sap and the rest of the abyss for a couple centuries. I haven't left this place in eons!
Keralda: (Sighs audibly) You took this duty upon yourself for reasons only you know. It wasn't assigned to you, you volunteered for it. (Terrodus waves and the cloaked figure dashes across the stage) And Decoatus is constantly busy, you know that. He regularly ensures that the mortals stay loyal to one another.
Terrodus: I know, it's just that this burden becomes exactly that, a burden. Even we are imperfect. (The cube screams a third time) Yes, like you! You failed to conquer the very thing you're trapped in now! The rest of us had to pick up your slack!
Terrodus continues to yell indecipherably as the cube resumes its agonized screams, and Keralda exits, an awkward look on her face. The yelling continues even as the curtains close, fading only after the curtains were fully closed.
It was evening in Legorna. The white tower shined and most people were doing their last routines of the day. The sound of seagulls filled the city, especially in the harbor, where Tiamat was walking almost completely alone. She was wearing her long blue and white dress, which was waving in the silent ocean winds, just like her golden hair. She also had her leather bag and a new bota bag, which she had filled with spring water.
Tiamat stopped underneath an old street lamp, which was near the Moxartine family's house. Her left hand was leaning against it as she stared at the great house, which was standing in front of the orange and cloudy ocean horizon. The dragon girl tried to look through the distant windows where she could see light, but she didn't see anything else except the wooden walls, furnitures, and paintings.
After a few minutes, Tiamat took an envelope from her leather bag and started walking to the front door of the house. When she got there, she quietly put the envelope through the mail slot at the door, then began to walk away.
Second time when I didn't break that door.
"Tiamat! Tiiaamaat!"
When Tiamat was walking past the street lamp, she heard as someone was shouting her name at the other side of the street. The dragon girl turned her head and saw Caron waving at her with her right hand. The archer was equipped with the same leather armor and weapons, which she had used in the forest three days ago. The hooded hunter walked across the empty street to Tiamat's side.
"Caron? What are you doing here?"
"I came to say hello. We haven't seen each other in a while, or, at least, you haven't seen me."
Caron took a relaxed posture and smiled a little under her hood when she looked at Tiamat. Then the archer looked around the harbor. Only a few sailors could be seen in some corners of the buildings, and another two fishing at wooden piers.
"What did you come here to do?"
Tiamat was silent for a second. She turned her head away from Caron and stared at her leather boots.
"Nothing."
"Is that so?"
"I'm just wandering around."
"You're a bad liar," Caron said while laughing. This made Tiamat's face turn red a little. She turned her head back at Caron.
"How did you find me?"
"Well, they call me a hunter for a reason. But hey, if you're not doing anything important at the moment, do you want to join me and the rest of the squad at The Old Vagabond?"
"The Old... what?"
"The Old Vagabond. It's a tavern in central Legorna. Maybe not the most peaceful one, but they have excellent drinks. Everyone's waiting for their hero in there."
"Really? Waiting for who?"
"You, of course," Caron said and gave Tiamat's shoulder a nudge. "You've already won two tournament matches and you saved us from the drake. Even Leandra acknowledged your heroism!"
Tiamat scratched the back of her head with her right arm. She stared at Caron's leather boots with her surprised eyes.
"I don't know what to say..."
"Just say that you'll come. It would be nice to have your company!"
Sunset's light reflected from Caron's green eyes under her hood. Tiamat wanted to get her thoughts away from the dark Trogon forest, so this sounded like a good plan.
"Alright, Caron. I'm coming."
"Sweet! Let's get there right away. Follow me!"
As Caron turned around and took a step, she immediately turned back at Tiamat.
"I almost forgot. Here, this is for you!"
She took something from her pocket and threw it at the dragon girl, who caught it with her both hands. It was a pouch, which made a metallic sound when it landed on Tiamat's palms. She opened it and saw that the pouch was full of gold coins. Caron looked as Tiamat opened her mouth in surprise.
"Don't think we would forget to reward you," the archer said with a smile.
Tiamat closed the pouch and put it into her bag. Then she bowed at Caron.
"Thank you! You really didn't have to, but I am grateful."
Caron nodded at Tiamat, then she beckoned at her before starting to walk away.
"Let's go now!"
Tiamat took a few steps, but she stopped momentarily to take a look at the house again. She saw two little, light-blue butterflies outside one of the windows, where she looked at earlier. Tiamat smiled and started to follow Caron again, who hadn't gotten far.
The curtains open up on a woman hunched next what appears to be a garden, which was, in actuality, a crate filled with dirt and some random vegetables shoved into it. Decoatus enters from stage left.
Levirga: (Idle humming)
Decoatus: Levirga, you seem to be in a good mood on this day.
Levirga: The mortals have just begun their harvest. I do so love when they sing and dance just for me. Their harvest this year will be bountiful, I'm sure of it.
Decoatus: Well, of course it will. They have you to watch over them. (Chuckles lightly) On a more serious note, however...
Levirga: (Turns her head to face Decoatus) Oh? What is it?
Decoatus: Don't you find it interesting that couples look to you for fertility, and to me for their loyalty to one another?
Levirga: I suppose, but I'm not sure I understand. What are you trying to get at, Decoatus?
Decoatus: I'm saying that, if the mortals beliefs in us go hand in hand, then perhaps we should too. (Crouches down next to Levirga)
Levirga: (A stunned look is upon her face, and after a moment of silence, she responds) Wha- Absolutely not! You've always been more fateful to Friyena. What could possibly make you have a change of heart?
Decoatus: The mortals do it all the time, why can't we? (He raises his voice in indignation)
Levirga: Just because the mortals can't be perfect doesn't mean we can't be! Just because they can't always follow your teachings doesn't mean you get to violate them!
Decoatus: If you're so certain that I'm violating my teachings, then I may as well go all the way! (He stands up and begins walking) You shan't ever see my face watching ver Legorna again! (He storms off stage)
Levirga: (Hunches back down by her garden wordlessly)
Keralda is shown to have been listening from behind a bush, a look of shock upon her face. She scurries offstage in the opposite direction.
The curtains open back to where the story had started, in the home. However, as opposed to being warmly lit as it was before, it seems cold, the only light coming from a torch carefully placed behind the window of the backdrop. Friyena is sitting in one of the chairs, sobbing. Keralda is seated in another, with a conspicuously chair empty next to Friyena. No words are exchanged. Approximately a minute passes of Friyena sobbing while Keralda sits solemnly.
"And thus, on that day, the rest of Legorna weeped with Friyena." Leandra's voice rings true throughout the theater. "The rain fell heavier than ever, as if the sky itself was lamenting Decoatus' betrayal. And thus ends the story of The Tradgey of Decoatus."
END SCENE FOUR
The curtains close once more before opening to show the actors lined up. "A round of applause for our stunning performers who were brave enough to help us bring back the art of the Legornian Theaters! Well done!" Leandra walks onto the stage, clapping with the audience as all the actors take a bow. The curtains close. After about a minute, they open to a minstrel in a comforting and lit room, seated with a lute and a harp on the floor a couple feet from him. He strums a couple notes and begins to sing.
"Have you heard the tale of Decoatus? For every one of him, there's a lot of us None are perfect, some are true, Some are even awful blue But because of him we grew
Have you heard the tale of Terrodus? For every one of him there's a lot of us None are perfect, many work hard Some are even working guards But because of him we're not shards
For every deity, we are so many, They've learned the lessons we must So here we praise loyalty And don't be a Decoatus!"
Wardnan's shouted words echoed through the desolated landscape. Radhe watched as Kara's form changed into something very alien. She held the pouch in a firm grip even though it still made her feel sick. Kara's transformation into the inhuman reminded Radhe of the Akon beast and how she had lost both leg and hope when she faced it. No, no. This is not an evil being like Akon. This is Kara. A human that wants no harm to anyone. She thought of that dream she have had where she had crushed the Akon with help of the forest. She tried to feel if there were any sign of life in the surroundings but nothing. Only lifeless rocks and dry soil.
Kara felt good when his powers were free once again, and they have been giving him a sacrifice by their own will? So amusing. 'What? no. This is not me. I don't want to harm Radhe. She has been so kind to me. I can't harm her. She won't get harmed, much. She will just be made into one of us.' The ground around Kara began to distort into weird formations but there were no life nor mana to be consumed. Only his opponent was there, and the watchers. Kara had grown into an eldrazi form that was at least three times as tall as his human form. He stopped transforming and just watched at Radhe.
Radhe watched the large monster that Kara had become. It just stood there watching her. Radhe gathered her thoughts and quickly opened the pouch and took out the black seed. As her fingers touch the seed the ill feelings became worse. She looked back at Kara but was met with a fast moving tentacle looking thing that hit her, causing her to fly backwards several feets. She lied down just for some seconds before she got up on her legs. Oh no, she had dropped the seed and had nothing she could use against Kara. She looked at her opponent who did not look at her but around on the surrounding watchmen.
I will consume her pitiful mana as my own. No she shall be one of us. No, she must not be harmed. There are the others. She is but one and they are many. He looked around on the watchmen and the others surrounding them.
Zaralim drew a sword looking blade and pointed it at Kara. The watchmen also drew their weapons. The eldrazi that Kara had become, laughed inside. He raised his tentacle looking arms to attack them. The clergyman was very excited at the spectacle. Wardnan, the priest and the woman all stood silent and just watched.
"No no no! He can't attack them. He will get himself killed and my promise will have been made in vain" Radhe thought while searching around her for something. As she searched she also felt something. The eldrazi began to move towards the Clergyman who smiled widely at the whole scenario. Then something hit it on the head. A stone had hit the eldrazi on the head and now it turned back at Radhe. Kara did not seem to be in any control at all anymore. The eldrazi moved fast towards Radhe who began to run in the other direction from it. Sir Wardnan wanted to intercept but was calmed down by the woman.
The eldrazi came closer to Radhe and thrust its tentacles as spears towards Radhe. Radhe felt the seed that now was almost under the eldrazi. With her magic she forced the seed to crack and bloom. She fell onto the ground in pain and chock as multiple spears pierced her and screams filled the air.
She lied down, holding her hands onto her stomach. She was in a familiar pain but she was not wounded, and the screams she heard was not hers. The pain did burn within her and mostly around the leg but as the time went by she noticed that it was not really a pain. Her body itself was the one that caused the pain in fear. She sill heard the screams and she had to get up and move away if she was still hunted by the monster. She could also hear something that sounded like laughter. She convinced her body that there were nothing to fear. She came up on her legs and continued to ran. She took a quick look back and stopped. She turned around and saw what she had done.
In front of her she saw the eldrazi covered in black flames. It screamed in pain as it was swinging around its tentacles trying to take out the fire. but the fire was very aggressive and burned deep into the eldrazi as if it was its only purpose. The fire burned through tentacle arms, legs, the torso and everything on the monster leaving nothing behind. She saw the clergyman laughing hysterically with his arms up into the air. "Hahaha. Oh greatest Praepotus! King of the gods and protector of our world. May this vision give peace to your soul as your sacrifice was not for nothing. See your legacy weapon burn and destroy what it was solely harnessed to do. See how the eldrazi burns to ashes by your abyssal flame!"
Radhe stood there watching the monster that had earlier been so terrifying now being just a chunk of burning flesh. It did not take long until nothing but ashes was left of Kara. The priest and the clergyman walked to the ashes of Kara which they began to put in a vase. Sir Wardnan and the woman approached Radhe behind her. Radhe looked at Wardnan but not in happiness. "You promised me that I could save his life! Is this what you call save a life!?" Wardnan tried to hug Radhe but she backed away. "This had to be done. There were no other way." Radhe looked at him with an angry expression as if his words were nothing worth. The woman started to speak to Radhe. "Kara's body had to be destroyed so that his soul would be freed from his curse. The clerics will with his ashes and his blood give Kara a new body. Free from the curse. You did not just save his life, you freed him." Radhe believed the woman, it felt like she did not lie. The woman gave Radhe a hug before the began to walk back.
When they got to the large dome building, the clergyman and the priest went inside with the vase. The woman walked in to join them. Radhe sat down a distance from Wardnan to wait. Why did sir Wardnan not say what would happen to Kara? A little more than half an hour later the clerics came out of the dome followed by the woman with her hands on what appeared to be Kara. He looked almost younger than before. Kara walked to Radhe and gave her a quick hug without saying any words. Radhe did not see if he was happy or sad.
On the way back, Kara walked with Sir Wardnan in the back. Radhe walked with the woman. Radhe asked her "Earlier I heard the scary priest man speak to some Praepotus, king of gods and a sacrifice? What was that about?" The woman smiled at Radhe's curiosity. "Praepotus was the first god of this world. He believed that it was his duty to protect it from anything that could harm it. One day thousands of years ago. Some mana from a evil source leaked into this world from somewhere else. Praepotus felt the source of the mana and saw some creatures or monsters called eldrazi. He saw what they could do so in fear the tried to create a weapon in case they would sometime enter this world. Praepotus sought out the abyss that existed here deep under the lands. He harnessed shards of the abyss through ritual gateways. You used one of these shard today.
These were not powerful enough so he tried to harness greater chunks to create more powerful weapons. As the time went by he tried to create larger and stronger weapons until one day when he tried to create the perfect weapon. A guardian made of pure abyssal magic. A guardian that would be able to destroy any invader to our world. He called this guardian Septhis. This guardian required such amount of abyssal mana that Praepotus had to use specific structures as catalysts for his creation that were located in this world. The dome you saw earlier was one of those. However. The amount of mana he tried to harness was too great and began to harm this world. Praepotus tried to control it but the abyss was spreading too aggressively. In an attempt to protect the world he used himself as a medium on which the abyss could attach. During his last moments he went into the gate of the afterlife where he locked himself within before he was consumed by the very abyss he had tried to control."
Radhe did not follow everything that she had said but she nodded either way. She then remembered. "Oh, I forgot. I never got to know your name?"
The woman smiled with a little chuckle. "Dear. You already know my name"
Radhe's card design feel more compact and focused than Kara's in my opinion. As we are in the quarter finals and move into the semifinals I look into smaller stuff as well and on the minor design choices, Radhe shows a better design.
As for the character influence. Kara has been very limited during almost this whole section so the story related parts have been very demanding of both @MagicChess and me. In Kara it was even more clear now that he had a good heart but a drive to let the powerful eldrazi side take over and make him feel significant. Radhe did also have some good character influence during this section. The most significant of these where the outbreak section which was written by me. So I could not take this into evaluation, however. The idea of Radhe losing her leg was not my idea and could been written by KalamMekhar. So it would be somewhat unfair for me to take this section completely into or out of consideration. I had to dig deeper to find the where I should cut the line.
This is a mixed bag. This time I did not want to make a similar mistake this time as I made during the first round of matches. So I looked into how the story would have went in general and for each of these characters if either of them won. Radhe would been simple while Kara would test the world even further because of his nature. I did plan a solution for how he would have been able to win and the tournament plus world remain intact so that I would not grow too much into the only solution I had.
So where did I draw the conclusion to why Radhe would win. It was after the first evaluation of the clear card design and character influence very even between these two. So I looked into more hidden influences. One of these was Radhe's loss of her leg. Like I said. This would have been unfair to not take into consideration at least a little.
So by trying to keep my personal interests except evaluations of designs from the judging I would consider that Radhe had a minor advantage because of her loss of own written potential in the character influence department. Then if I would take my own personal interest into consideration I believe Radhe will make for a more interesting character for the story based tournament. Kara would be more interesting in a RPG aka DnD environment. I hope this clarifies my judgment of this match to your satisfaction.
@MagicChess I thank you and Kara very much for participating in this tournament. I will give you one favorite of your choice for each card in Kara's evolution that you post Plus 1 favorite of my choice since you got to the quarter finals. You may also write what Kara does now after he has been reborn without his curse and thus his eldrazi powers. Since this procedure was a completely rebirth and not a healing process. Much of Kara's recent memories are either gone or kind of broken. If you would want Kara to regain the eldrazi powers he could return to Zendikar and gain the powers in a similar manner as he got them the first time. (Or maybe you have some other, better solution.)
@Jonteman93, thanks for a great contest! I'll write a last story for Kara and post another iteration or two. @KalamMekhar, congratulations to you and to Radhe!
Wow, that was close! Thanks, @Jonteman93! I get your point that I have not contributed enough to Radhe's story and character development; I shall do so now!
@MagicChess: I didn't think I'd beat you. Well played!
@Lujikul That is awesome. It will really bring back the heart and soul to Legorna. If I get the time I will let Nathan join in future plays.
@MagicChess Thank you for your kind words. I see foreward to reading Kara's next iteration.
@KalamMekhar You don't need to worry too much about it. Some small texts what Radhe does and thinks will do very good for me to work with them. The most important thing is that you have fun writing.
Your time in Legorna is coming to an end. This weekend you will go with ship to the Lisakdonian capital of Crastine where the last matches will be played. If any of you have anything left to do in Legorna (if not a flashback), 23:00 (12pm) Central European Time will be the planned time for the departure.
You will have at least one week in Crastine before the deadline for the next card. The first semi final between R5-T4 and Mishra will follow soon thereafter.
Remember the signature card if you would like to have one. I do recommend you to have one though as it will increase the chances of winning, and it makes it easier for me to know what your champions are capable of now or what event they have been through etc. * A non-creature, non-planeswalker card with maximum mana cost of 5 and within logical colors. Colors your champion have had or develops into or colors that are connected to your champion (eg. blue & red for R5-T4). One additional signature card may be added for the final match after the semi finals.
If you would want a little more time or anything else. Just pm me and I can probably arrange something. I could give you information if your development into your 7 mana version would be very dramatic.
I still have some last iterations to make in Legorna myself and will post the most important ones latest tomorrow.
Good luck champions!
Edit: One last thing. Even though it is not really canon. Would you like to have a bronze match between those that lose in the semi finals? The card requirements will be the same in this match as for the final itself.
A messenger appeared at Mishra's door. He had a letter from Crastine.
I must congratulate you to your two victories in the tournament thus far, Misha. As you have entered the semi finals and thus will travel to Crastine, I would like to meet up with you and discuss some "business". When you get to Crastine. Just ask any of the traders, they know where I am located.
Masterpiece R5-T4 has escaped training quarters located in Nivix Laboratories, Third Sector. Extensive damage has been conducted on laboratory property. At Grand Architect Thibble's request, Golgari necromancers reanimated the charred remains of sentries and High Assistant Bibble for psycho-probing.
Witnesses of the breakout recall the recently upgraded automaton taking an unexcused break from upgrades to wander the corridors. Inquisitive Izzet artificers that followed were obliterated as R5-T4 burst from the memory archives. Nivix Cyclopses were unable to detain the rogue construct, which fled the scene.
Grand Architect Thibble is currently irate, but has set aside plans to quickly reconstruct a replica for the Tournament of Champions. A legion of Izzet soldiers and scientists have been sent out to study Masterpiece R5-T4 and eliminate it before the construct tampers further with their plans.
@TenebrisNemo I must have lost my head somewhere. I write worse than a toddler. It is meant to be 23:00 (11 pm) Central European Time on Saturday the 3rd.
It was midnight. The inky silhouettes of a hundred opulent mansions sliced through the starry sky crested by a dirty yellow moon. Sounds from the distant city were muted in the echoing silence, manifesting as a wheedling buzz. There was only one house with its lights on.
Like an oily shadow, the hooded figure slithered through the streets scrubbed of grime, ducking its head to avoid smashing through the roofs of the smaller houses. It trudged stiffly to the house with lights on.
"Oy! You!"
A tall man carrying a lantern and a scabbard stepped out in front of the hooded figure. Although he was rippling with muscles and clad in shiny steel armor, he barely stood half the figure's height.
"Don't you know the curfew was three hours ago, mister?" the man cried. "And mountain giants are not permitted in this neighborhood, you know that right?"
The figure casually stepped over the man, who pulled out his sword. "Excuse me, but if you don't skedaddle, I'm gonna have to-"
The hooded figure whipped around, and the man saw the eyes flash in blue light. He yelped, dropped both torch and sword, then dashed away.
Turning around, the construct dashed to the lit house and rapped a shiny chrome fist on the door, fearfully looking over its shoulder.
"mIShRa?" the construct called. "ArE yOU ThErE? PlEaSE, i NeEd HelP."
It kept knocking.
"MiShRa, i'Ts mE R5-T4." it said. "mY MaStERs dId BaD tHiNgSS tO yOu aNd I aM ReAlLy sOrRRy. BuT PlEaSE lEt mE iN. I dOnTt wAnT tO hUrTt yOu. bUt I nEEd YoUrE hElPp."
Sir Wardnan was sitting at the table in his home talking with his daugther Veronica. Hans is outside in the stable with Dust.
Wardnan: "Are you sure you can handle yourself alone?" Veronica: "You haven't seen your brother in over 4 years. You should go with Radhe and the others to Crastine and meet him again. You don't have to worry about me daddy. I am old enough to take care of myself, and I have Hans here who even were a contestant." Wardnan: "The ship departures to Crastine in just a few days, and Radhe is probably still angry at me for not telling her about the abyssal seed nor what Kara would have to endure." Veronica: "Then go to her and talk with her. She is a reasonable person and I believe. No, I know that she will forgive you when you explained that you did not want her to worry too much beforehand." Wardnan: "You're right Veronica. You always are. I go and tell Clementia about my travel to Crastine and then I'll talk to Radhe." Veronica: "That's the spirit dad. See you later."
Veronica went up of her seat and gave Henric a great hug before she headed out to Hans. Sir Wardnan stood up and stopped in the doorway out. He looked at large flower on the fireplace. The same flower that Marianne had been giving Henric on their wedding day. A magical flower that will never wither. Before he walked out he took his sword. Could never be too sure with Zaralim still in town.
When he got outside he saw that the red haired woman was talking with Veronica and Hans. Dust seemed to really take a liking to her. When she noticed Wardnan she left the young ones and joined him. They began to walk towards Legorna.
"So you will travel with the contestants to Crastine Sir Wardnan?" She said. "I haven't seen my brother in a very long time and Veronica is old enough now to take care of herself while I'm gone. When are going back my lady?"
"Ah yes, your brother do not speak much about you but he thinks about you almost all the time. It would make good for him to meet you again after all this time. I will be going back to Crastine today. My escort waits for me in Legorna. I wanted to meet the three remaining contestants before I returned, and you of course. You don't want to go with me back to Crastine sir Wardnan?"
"I'm sorry my lady but I have some things I need to attend to first before I go."
"The young girl Radhe?"
"Well I wish you the best of luck and I will wait for you and the others in Crastine. Take care sir Wardnan."
The two had reached the outskirt of the city. Some soldiers and a few knights were waiting there with horses. Sir Wardnan wished the woman farewell and moved into the city towards the residental building.
The red haired woman have been meeting your respectively champion before her departure. Feel free to put her into any character iteration if you want to.
Sir Wardnan was walking toward the federation building. Before he stepped in he walked to the flower garden so see if Radhe was there but no luck. When he walked back to the front of the building he saw Tiamat down on the street. He waved at her.
"Tiamat! Good day! Where are you going?"
"Sir Wardnan. I got a letter from Haide recently. She wanted to have a last fight with me in the training grounds to see how powerful I have got, before I leave for Crastine."
"She sent a letter to you? That's not like her."
"Maybe she did not have time to see me. I have been busy quite recently. As late as today some woman with red hair wanted to keep me company. She reminded me a little of my mother somehow, strange as it may sound. So Haide just probably did not find a good opportunity to tell me herself."
"Yeah. that's probably why. Well I must wish you good luck then in your concluding fight. I will hope that you win decisively. Haide is so fun to be with after she lost a fight, she becomes so grumpy, haha. Oh and another thing. I will join you and the others on the trip to Crastine. I'm going to meet my brother."
"Yeah, she really is but she always has a bunch of happiness within her regardless. I see forward to travel with you Sir Wardnan, but now I must go to my room and get some stuff before I meet up with Haide. See you Mr Wardnan."
"See you too Tiamat."
They waved good bye to each other and went to their respectively destination.
Wardnan met Nathan in the corridor. "Henric! How are you doing! sorry! can't speak now. Leandra have started up the theater plays again and I don't want to be late for it. I think she named it "The failure of Decoatus" or something. See you later, bye!"
Wardnan did not get time to say anything so he just continued along the corridor. Clementia was sitting in a chair at the fireplace. She was holding an illusion of a singing bird in her hand. She seemed happy and relaxed for once.
"Ahh, Sir Henric Wardnan. please take a seat" She said as she let the illusionary bird fly.
Wardnan took a chair just beside Clementia. She offered him some tea and he gladly accepted.
"So why the happy smile and the singing bird?" He asked
"Well, where should I begin. One of the former contestants have started up the new theaters again and Fedron and Nathandielle are very much into it. or rather the whole city have begun to talk about it. Nathandielle is so happy it is difficult for me to not smile back. He really wants this to succeed. Also Dask Vortel's last report indicated that the clergyman and Zaralim have left Legorna two days ago. That was also the last I heard from him for some reason. The federation leaders have accepted the smaller amount of soldiers we could spare. Our friend seems to have had something in it."
Clementia paused a little while she looked at the singing bird. "So what can I do for you Sir Wardnan?"
"I wanted to ask for your permission to travel to Crastine. I want to see my brother again."
"Of course you are allowed to leave. I have already been giving permission to one of the watchmen earlier so of course you of everyone should be allowed to go."
"Thank you very much Clementia. I promise to be back as soon as possible." After he had finished his tea he stood up and gave his thanks once again to Clementia. When he got to the end of the room he stopped and looked back at Clementia. "By the way. Who exactly was the watchman that asked for permission earlier?"
"It was one of the girls. The white haired one called named Haide. She said she also wanted to see someone in Crastine and then surprise Tiamat when she arrived."
"When did she leave?"
"Three days ago if I remember correctly. She wanted to arrive in Crastine in good time before the contestants. Wardnan. Sir Wardnan?"
The 2nd part of The Old Vagabond happens in the same evening of the day, when Tiamat fought against Leandra. It's a flashback, which happened before Radhe's and Kara's match etc. )
Here's Beq's complete timeline! (Hope you like it) Sorry it took so long. Anyway, congratulations to @Gelectrode for that wonderful performance back there with R5-T4! There was no way I was gonna win that one! Thanks a lot to @Jonteman93 for this great contest idea too!

Also, the suspense is killing me! Not so sure how well Radhe will do against a mighty Eldrazi! )
XD
END SCENE ONE
END SCENE TWO
(After the match between Tiamat and Leandra.)
END SCENE THREE
The curtains open back to where the story had started, in the home.
For every one of him, there's a lot of us
None are perfect, some are true,
Some are even awful blue
But because of him we grew
Have you heard the tale of Terrodus?
For every one of him there's a lot of us
None are perfect, many work hard
Some are even working guards
But because of him we're not shards
For every deity, we are so many,
They've learned the lessons we must
So here we praise loyalty
And don't be a Decoatus!"
VS
Is this what you call save a life!?"
Wardnan tried to hug Radhe but she backed away.
You did not just save his life, you freed him."
Radhe believed the woman, it felt like she did not lie.
What was that about?"
The woman smiled at Radhe's curiosity.
@KalamMekhar
Best Card: Radhe
Best Character: Kara
I will give you one favorite of your choice for each card in Kara's evolution that you post
Plus 1 favorite of my choice since you got to the quarter finals.
@KalamMekhar, congratulations to you and to Radhe!
@MagicChess: I didn't think I'd beat you. Well played!
Thus the quarter finals are finished and we have our four semi finalists.
@Gelectrode with R5-T4
@Faiths_Guide with Mishra
@TenebrisNemo with Tiamat
@KalamMekhar with Radhe
Kind regards.
Master Smith Krautus.
PROGRESS LOG 229
--------------------------------
It is meant to be 23:00 (11 pm) Central European Time on Saturday the 3rd.
Does this work well for everyone?

Wardnan: "Are you sure you can handle yourself alone?"
Veronica: "You haven't seen your brother in over 4 years. You should go with Radhe and the others to Crastine and meet him again. You don't have to worry about me daddy. I am old enough to take care of myself, and I have Hans here who even were a contestant."
Wardnan: "The ship departures to Crastine in just a few days, and Radhe is probably still angry at me for not telling her about the abyssal seed nor what Kara would have to endure."
Veronica: "Then go to her and talk with her. She is a reasonable person and I believe. No, I know that she will forgive you when you explained that you did not want her to worry too much beforehand."
Wardnan: "You're right Veronica. You always are. I go and tell Clementia about my travel to Crastine and then I'll talk to Radhe."
Veronica: "That's the spirit dad.
Wardnan had already left the room.
The 2nd part of The Old Vagabond happens in the same evening of the day, when Tiamat fought against Leandra. It's a flashback, which happened before Radhe's and Kara's match etc. )
