@sorinjace I see the intention but normaly you can only splice onto subtype like equipment or aura ... not creature or instant but its easy to imagine how so the entry is valid but it goes beyond the limits of the original SPLICE keyword of WotC. cool cards btw !! ^^
@Tomigon I read the card wrong. I thought it said "exile target creature with power less than this card's converted mana cost." Maybe you should change it to that if you have power level concerns...
@KrampisZman I changed that part as you suggested. Also its mana cost and splice cost. It's a bit strange because white usually punishes creatures with big power. But I like the balance of the new version.
The idea to splice onto trap is VERY nice but i cant help and think how bad traps ACTUALLY are and i doubt any of the roposed card(even all of them) could carry the mechanic.
Keep them coming i like you guys idea and we are slowly starting to make sense of the mechanic that is splice. splice onto permanent is kinda weird but one way to approach it could be like prosh or jeleva are worded: When you cast {CARD NAME}, {CARD EFFECT}
saying when this spell resolve is kinda weird since no permanent trigger anything upon resolution. they normally enter the battlefield and then start doing fancy stuffs.
altough i understand the wording i propose makes it so you wont counter the spliced speel when you counter the spell it was spliced onto but hey ... spliuce is not that good anyway so why would that be a problemk :P
@icyyou - A lot of them are but I think Summoning and Mindbreak Trap are very good and ideally it would come in a format with new and better trap spells! Either way I like the synergy with 0 mana trap costs so hopefully you'll have mana open for the splice.
@icyyou Cast trigger is also weird when you think about casting that spell normally. It does nothing upon resolution. And being uncounterable annoys blue. (This is totally fine with me.) Also the timing thing confused me.
Splice can be good if it was used onto very common subtypes such as human, elf, zombie,,
When you splice, the card stays in your hand. In this way you get the opportunity to modify more spells in the future. It also means that you need take special note of what the modification will actually do as balancing can be difficult.
Splicing is a rather curious little thing to do, don't you think?
Allows equipment to be equipped at (usually) a discount price, but you have to use white mana; also allows equipment to be used as almost a boosting/ saving buff spell. Idk, feels balanced enough - comment if you think otherwise...
I kinda just developed this card from a list of requirements that came with the idea of making a creature that can splice into something other than another creature. Since vehicles turn into creatures, creature mechanics can be legally passed onto them. I was constantly comparing this card with Chief of the Foundry for balancing: haste is made up for it being two colours and the splice cost has to be paid on top of a usually high casting cost and not the next turn. As much as I hate to smite myself down, this card wouldn’t actually work. Rule 702.46e says that spells loses any splice effects once they leave the stack. The concept however might allow for this card to have its own rule covering this if it was ever printed.
Wanted something that would splice using energy counters... boy this guy was a mindfrick to make. Even though his ability is really strong for the low casting a splicing cost, it can't make any energy itself. As long as you have some energy to start it off though, with kala./aether r. artificers mostly having a 2 energy ETB ability, they can get a nice boost for a possible attack.

Look on the card page to see how it works, if it works...
I dont have the reminder text for splice because i ran out of room, people would be more confused by forecast than splice.
Also ran out of room to say (This card is red)
Edited: Old version was "target creature with power greater than
...AND WE HAVE A WINNER!!!
...Or not. I don't know. It's a cool design though, and the Splice doesn't feel forced.
I'm not sure about the balance yet. I might edit something later. There are some very cheap Angels in old expansions.

These are probably bad because i didn't think them out.
But I'd just suggest you ignore sanjaya666 if he gets to rowdy.
Can't wait to enter in the next two or so days.
