  • @shadow123 I like it! The ability is interesting and well-balanced in my opinion. The only concern I have is that it's relatively cheap and well-stated for an indestructible creature. You could consider offsetting this with a downside that makes it unable to attack or block unless a condition is met, similar to the Amonkhet gods.

    My card:

Does the wording track? Too powerful?
  • edited May 2020
@FangQuil The card is a bit confusing. To simplify, maybe add x to the cost, and change the modes to “pay x life”, “discard x permanents”, and “discard x cards”. As for the power, I’m not sure. Its a very interesting card.

here’s mine: for some background, a while ago I created a card “diabolical Influence”, and posted it here for criticism. The general consensus was that it would be very easy to abuse. I decided to give it another shot, and created an additional influence as well. The changes limit the cards to only give an effect once per turn, and they affect all players.

  • @Globert-the-Martian

Nice mechanic! I think it is quite interesting! I would suggest making prominence just say that you can only have one of the card in a sideboard. I also wouldn't use the enchantment creature frames as well. OPther than that, nice work!

  • @shadow123 I've already commented and Favorited this card. But I'll reiterate that I think it's a very unique mechanic, something that's never been done before. One thing that might be confusing is how does one track, and remember that the card is a token enchantment, assuming that you'd be using the actual creature card I could see some confusion occuring, thinking you have more creatures than you really do. Perhaps when it exiles it, rather than a token, it bring the card back as an enchantment that has some sort of counter on it that reminds the players of it's new type, and that it can't attack or block. Something like, "Return this card to the battlefield with a Mythos counter on it. As long as it has a Mythos counter, it's an enchantment and isn't a creature and has "When this enchantment leaves the battlefield, exile it."

Just two cents. I dig the card.

More cards from my arabian nights set:

First is the top of the curve in the green tribe. This set, aside from the ordain mechanic, has a 'deserts matter' theme, similar to the og arabian nights, and amonkhet. This card is modeled off of Woodfall Primus. Curious to know what y;all think, specifically if the land grab is too powerful.

Second is the green (human) legendary of the set- leader of the Tejite faction, lords of the Oasis. The cards cmc and p/t are directly modeled off of Leatherback Baloth, which is an uncommon. I'm hoping that the ordain, lack of other abilities, and legendary status make up for the great rate and insane land ramp. Lmk what you think!

@Rayne-Lord. Oh boy! These cards look fun!! I'll start with the first one. Deep-Desert Avenger. Wow. This card is strong. An 8 mana 4/6 with trample, vigilance, and reach with a bramblecrush effect attached. And not only that, in a deck built around deserts, this could ramp you 4-5+ cards while killing a planeswalker, enchantment, or artifact. Overall. A very balanced bomb for a limited game and I honestly really like the desert theme going on here.

Ok next up is Khalil Hassan, Verdant Sheikh. Ok, It got some pretty good stats and and ordain ability, but I am wondering, is the ordain ability too underpowered for a rare? Considering a creature is being tapped, maybe make the land enter untapped or allow it to have a cultivate effect attached to it. Tapping a creature for a one time arboreal grazer on turn 3 effect may discourage some from ordaining it. However. The cost and the p/t ratio seems in flavor for a green three drop. Hey, another possible idea you could do it allow it to not put a land onto the battlefield, but put a creature instead. Now this would probably be a little OP but you could easily balance this effect b making it only put a creature with cmc 3 or less. Overall, I really like these cards you designed @Rayne-Lord.

Aight. Here's mine. Kind of made a spin off of the cards misdirection and ponder.
    Take a look.

  • The whole idea is really interesting, and I've always loved testing new waters/design space. My only problem with it is that you can quite quickly just pay 6 mana every turn, so I suggest making it tap @shadow123.
  • @Liwg thank you for the feedback!

As far as Khalil Hassan, his ability i not intended as a one time thing. Not sure if the wording of ordain allows this, but the intention is that if you ordain him, he's grabbing you a land everytime you attack. Thats why I thought maybe it was OP. Does this change your opinion, do I need to change the wording?

  • Here's my card:

And if I can get away with another one:

P.S.:A like to the first person who guesses who Valory is based off of.
  • Hey @LordTachanka123. You skipped me!

Oops. @Rayne-Lord. Sorry missed that he has it as an attack trigger. Much better than I originally thought and still and really strong three drop. Also the wording is just fine, I might have just read it too fast or something.
  • All right, love your first card, but the alternate cost might need some reworking...
The second one is great, but has a little bit of wording issues @Liwg.

@Liwg Those cards are way too powerful! A chance at a 0 costing 3/4 with flying, flash, and retargeting capabilities. Even if it didn't have the chance at a 0 cost, it would still be pretty OP. I suggest this:

    Misdirecting Angel  {3}{W}{U}

                     Flying, Flash

    When Misdirecting Angel enters the
battlefield, you may change the targets
of a spell or ability with another single
    target.

You may pay 1 life and exile a both blue and white
card from your hand instead of paying
    Misdirecting Angel's mana cost.

                                                    [3/4]

And don't let me get started on pondering owl. Oof, That card is one of the best commons i have ever seen. Even if it was a mythic it would still be of the best mythics i've ever seen. You should make it cost, {1}{W}{U} and change it to a 1/2. Also the flavour text seems a little off and doesn't make that much sense. You could also take out the draw a card part and make it cost {W/U} (Or {1}{W/U}) and change it to a 1/2. (Even then it would need to be a uncommon.). After those changes, you should change the creature type to bird spirit.

I hope this helps. And sorry if I was being a little rude there.

  • @joemamajoe. nah it's all good.
  • @joemamajoe Your card seems pretty powerful to me. It does cost 7 mana and is also 5 colors, but I'd increase the cost to 3wubrg. Nice spin on cumulative upkeep!

  • Do I get feedback?
  • @LordTachanka123 Oh shoot! I didn’t see that you didn’t get feedback! I have piano class (over FaceTime) right now, but I’ll leave feedback later.
  • I'm so happy I no longer have piano class @shadow123...
  • @LordTachanka123
Hey, piano is great for your brain and hands! it improves quick reflexes and reading speed.

I hated piano class but when we stopped taking them because we moved It actually inspired me to play more difficult pieces, now I'm twice as good at it then I was.
I play a lot of Pirates of the Caribbean pieces. And those are pretty difficult.
What I didn't like about piano classes was they just didn't let me progress fast enough, I don't like waiting.

What I'm trying to say is don't underestimate the influence piano has on your life. And most of that influence is good. (One thing it doesn't improve is typing, I tend to type way to hard because I'm used to my piano.)

@Fantastickill7 How long have you been playing? I’m currently playing Moonlight Sonata and Anitra’s Dance right now . I’m also an avid music composer! I composed a piece for my school orchestra to play at the end of year concert last year!! Right now I’m composing a song which involves piano and vocals and a piano concerto!

@LordTachanka123 Piano is my life!!! Currently, it is my sibling’s turn. Edit: Commented.
  • @shadow123
Very nice, the invoke ability should have it become an enchantment creature, just a creature, because it is already an enchantment, so it doesn't need to become an enchantment. follow?

  • Woah. @Fantastickill7 @shadow123, you guys clearly are a lot better than me. And I do still play occasionally, but I have a hatred of normal classes, that was mainly what I meant. I do love music, but memory skills aren't exactly my best skill...
  • edited May 2020
@Fantastickill7 Thanks for the feedback! I said enchantment creature because in the reminder text for vehicles it said artifact creatures.

Edit: If I said just a creature, it would lose the enchantment type!
  • edited May 2020
@shadow123 Nice card. Low-cost 1/3 is a good, solid early-game defender, and I like the ability to drain opponents when you incur losses in combat. Does the triggered ability function only when it's a creature?

Also, I have the third tribe and mechanic for my prospective set. I present Red-Green Archers with Volley.

    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/kjolf-wilds-marshal
  • edited May 2020
@SkyWizard437 The ability triggers both when it’s a creature and when it’s not. Also, I think you may have skipped @Fantastickill7.
  • edited May 2020
@shadow123 Ah. And you are absolutely right. @Fantastickill7 My bad. Nice card. White isn't known for large non-Angel creatures, so this one's interesting. I like the conditional protection effect for creatures, and I especially like the tokens. Those are a neat spin on devotion.
  • edited May 2020
@SkyWizard437 I really dig the Kjolf. Archers are a tribe that has so much room to grow, and Wizards has given it a tiny bit of support in the past (looking at you Greatbow Doyen.) Volley is a pretty cool ability, and functionally seems like it'd have similarity to Exalted, since to get the most out of it you're probably tapping down most of your creatures and attacking with a single big baddie. Seems balanced, but I would almost say it could get +1/+1 instead of +1/0.

That final ability is also nice, but for the color its in you have it reversed. Draw, then Discard, i.e. 'loot' is a blue ability. The red version 'rummage' would be discard, then draw. Other than that, looks good, balanced, and flavorful!

@shadow123 ; I love the idea of Invoke, very cool, and any and all Aristocrat decks are salivating at this card. I have some skepticism on how much art you'll be able to find that will accurately portray this ability, but thats neither here nor there, and I could be totally wrong. You might try looking at some of the great visionary/transcendental artists, such as Alex Grey. Might provide some inspiration.

Ok, so here is some more Arabian stuff. We all know white needs more draw, is this too powerful? I was considering an activation cost of 1 for the draw. Also little bit of ordain synergy here.

    https://mtgcardsmith.com/view/meditative-mullah?list=set&set=53134

Now on to some multicolored in the set. The first ability is fairly common, the activated was basically an idea of how to combine blue's love of bouncing, and green's creature love. Originally I conceived it as requiring the removal of counters from your creatures (hence why the first ability is there) but there wasn't room on the card. I;m thinking his bounce is potentially OP, and I am open to redesigning this card, albeit keeping the character and color identity the same.
