    Incursion

    'That was... foolish.'

    The sun was shining bright a a suit of full-body armor was walking towards a certain hideout of thieves near the desolated city of Vinheim.

    'I should have more control over my outburst.'

    The armor-bound spirit innerly sighed.

    'Still, the tracking and mind control spell is working fine anyway. Good that he hasn't left his hideout yet, now come here you...'

    - || -

    "Ugh, sir, why are we still here after that... terrifying magical outburst happened? Many of the other kids are still scared, sir." Asked a young brown-haired boy who wore a typical medieval attire as he was observing the horizon by using a binocular that was of course not legally borrowed.

    "Because Jamie, I had already met someone before that happened. Someone that I know could change..." The adult thief was abruptly stopped as his eyes emitted a pair of purplish glow.

    The kid noticed that something was amiss, he then abandoned his observation, and just stared at the adult thief.

    "...Ugh, sir, are you okay?"

    The adult person just turned back and silently went from down the treehouse by using the rope-ladder in a manner of an automaton, then silently walked away to a direction towards the deeper part of the forest.

    "Oh no, what just happened?" The boy just hurriedly following his caretaker due to his sense of duty as the second hand of the infamous thief.

    -||-

    'Finally. Now wake up...'

    The wind whispered. Or more precisely, an ominous voice that belonged to a certain dark-clad individual.

    The thief who had been entranced due to a deal he hadn't really thought out very well quickly regained his consciousness.

    'Wha- by the gods, what just happened? and why am I here?'

    He just shook his head. But then a whispering voice spoke.

    "Greetings. Darius."

    The thief turned around, and saw the person he previously had a deal with. Or to be precise, he saw the walking suit of dark armor that was currently also brimming with smoky dark substances.

    "I-it's you!"

    "Cut the horseshit. Now I need you to do a favor for me. "

    "Um, okay?"

    But then, a decaying hand suddenly popped out from the ground and grabbed the foot of the thief.

    "What in the..." He shouted.

    Then the offending limb was disintegrated by a stream of black mana that came out from the left hand of the armored person.

    "Stand your ground, we have an incursion."

    "What?"

    "Just get ready for a fight!"

    The thief finally realized that something bad would happen, he finally pulled out his knife and readied a stance.

    "By the gods, I never signed myself for this..." He muttered in his frustration.

    Soon then dozens of such undead abominations erupted from the ground and littered the large clearing where both of the living beings stood.

    And then even more of them kept rising from the grounds.

    The area was literally got turned into a warzone, except the enemies were mindless horde of undeads.

    "Herald of the Underworld, heed my call..."
    The armored being muttered as he stood in a beckoning position.

    Then, with a maelstrom of black mana, a demonic being appeared afterwards.

    "Okay... that's a neat trick." Commented the thief who was known as Darius as he stabbed an unfortunate walking corpse through its head.

    "What is your command, my lord?" Spoke the leather-clad demonic being in a bowing manner of a gallant knight. In addition, gripped by his right hand was a wicked looking curved sword that seemed too large to handle for a normal human being. Oh, and the sword was fleshy looking and had an eye too.

    'Seems like I'm a bit sloppy in this. Still, he seems like a decent warrior anyway.' Thought the armored being solemnly.

    "Hm, who's your name?"

    "Jag'dranoth, my lord."

    "Good."

    An undead that strayed too near to him was obliterated by a blast of dark energy.

    "You can see that we're currently having a bit of, 'trash problem' right now. And you see that those are some delicious looking souls too."

    "Ah, I see. Problem with walking corpses. As you wish then, my lord." The demon smirked and bowed.

    Then he started to do the hack and slash with the precision of an experienced butcher towards the shambling undead hordes. But instead of rose again as ever, every undead that got hit by the demon's blade stayed dead because the soul was sucked away by the demon's seemingly living blade.

    And the horde of undead was cleared in a short time.

    -||-

    "And who is this mortal?" Asked the newly summoned, wingless demon in his seemingly most intimidating voice as he slung his also intimidating and fleshy sword at his back.

    "I, uh, I'm just..." The thief stammered.

    "Don't bully the poor fellow, he's my guide and informant of this new world after all." Commented the armored entity.

    "Bwahahaha..." The demon patted the thief's back a bit too strong until he staggered.

    "Worry not, mortal, you've already marked by the boss anyway. As long as you don't backstab us, you'll be fine. Hehehe..." The demon just smirked.

    "Uh huh, very reassuring..." The thief grumbled.

    Then the armored entity raised his hand.

    "Stay quiet." Commanded him.

    Both of the demon and the thief looked at each other and hold their stance again.

    "Follow me." The armored person then silently walked away.

    The demon just shrugged and followed him, as the thief just scratched his head and approached both of them.

    -||-

    "Just get down Jamie, it's really me." Shouted the thief towards a scared child on the tree above who was being scared as he attempted to hide himself from the seemingly terrifying walking suit of armor and a demon who were stood behind the thief, with their hands folded.

    "N-no! You may be mind-controlled by those people, sir..."

    The thief sighed.

    "Look, if you want to starve to death, then just stay there because I'm gonna cook your favorite meal after this. The beef goulash soup. Goodbye then. Let's go, my esteemed gentlemen."

    Just as he started to walk away, followed by a snickering demon and a seemingly emotionless suit of armor, the kid began to panic.

    "Wait, sir!"

    The three people stopped as the child hurriedly began to climb down with the agility of an experienced climber.

    Then the thief approached him, hands folded.

    "Ugh, I'm sorry, sir. I was only worried about you anyway..." The was scratching his head as he looked down.

    "You know you can't go to the forest alone. It's a very dangerous place especially for a kid like you. What if we didn't notice you before? You could be dead due to many dangerous things that lurk in the forest, you know."

    "I-I'm sorry..."

    The thief just smiled and patted the child head.

    "Alright then, since you're behaving like a good kid, apologize accepted. Now just sit on my shoulders, come on."

    "Yay!"

    And the three people walked away from the scene as the thief and the child having a seemingly happy conversation along the way.

    'Does such happiness even achievable for me?' Thought the former emperor solemnly as he was silently observing the life in front of him.

    'Sorrow is all that left for me after all...'
  • We are closing in towards the second elimination. Approximately 32 hours remains.
  • Wait, am I still in or not?
  • @Ranshi922 You are still in. Only Paulas, Venom Mage has been eliminated thus far.
  • Okay. 'cuz I was just writing story!
  • hm... upon checking Ranshi's image to describe his form, I find he is actually a her... oops. story revision time! XD
  • @Ranshi922 Well the difference between a man and a woman can be unclear sometimes. Specially during those lively and shaking evenings hehehe....
  • She looked like a shirtless man... the image was a bit pixilated when I had it zoomed in and was too small to tell when it was zoomed out... This is embarrassing! Good one! XD
  • Unlike most planeswalkers Ranshi had met, who materialize stealthily for the most part, her body was made of raging flames. When her conscience traveled from plane to plane, her flesh, if one could even call it that, was left behind. Upon arrival, anything flammable in the surrounding area combusts and obediently coalesces into her tall and muscular form. It was soon after the embarrassment of her first leap through the aether that prompted her to learn how to make clothing from fire. Never again would the "Red Hot Hottie" incident of 2004 happen! As she formed on this unknown plane, Ranshi muses to herself that she'd never seen trees so wet. "Swamp-trees" was what they were called if she wasn't mistaken. The next realization that strikes her is that there are a starling number of tombstones. She might've mistaken them for shrubs if they hadn't caught fire and the ground beneath wasn't churning.

    "Zombies..." she muttered to herself. She was so tired, and not yet formed and she already had another problem to deal with. Luckily her top half had formed as the ghouls began to shuffle towards her; pyromancy was tricky, but not impossible for her to do with no hands. She conjured a flaming orb into her hand and brandished it threateningly. "Come no further!" she boomed. They continued dragging themselves toward her, eyeing her hungrily. "I have no flesh, you brainless bullies!" They began to drool... never before had Ranshi seen undead that drooled... when the nearest began bleeding from what was left of its nasal cavity, that she looked down at her form.

    "NOW THAT'S JUST PLAIN RUDE!!!!" she yelled as she cremated everything as far as the eye could see.

  • I apologize for any crude humor and allusions. I couldn't help myself. (also the fact that i thought she was a topless man makes it funnier)

    III. Journey to the Temple
    Strange dreams of a mumbling man and the great horizon tower filled Kyoniq's restless sleep. It seemed that two powerful beings were at work here. One was the lord of the tower who sent the dream. They seemed benevolent as they warned the planeswalkers trapped on Clancularius about the second being, the Spark Serpent, which seemed to feed on planeswalker sparks, the strings of aether that bound planeswalker's souls to the Blind Eternities. Kyoniq wondered if the Tower Lord was a planeswalker themself, who had the key to leave the plane but was unable to use it for some reason.
    When I went to sleep last night, there were twenty-two other planeswalkers, mused Kyoniq as he woke up. Now there are only twenty-one. Kyoniq had slept in a small plain between the sea and the forest. He decided he should seek out the Jugiha Temple. The village elder in Nyaaki said it was located in the heart of the island and contained information about the Tower. With the fluidform at his tail, Kyoniq leapt into the air, heading inland.

    The coast of the island was rocky and covered in cliffs except for the lagoon that formed a natural harbor, perfect for a trading village like Nyaaki. Behind the lagoon, dense forest arose, whereas atop the cliffs that formed the rest of the coast, a wide grassy belt separated the water from the trees. The lush tropical forest covered most of the island. In the center, several craggy mountain peaks protruded from the jungle. However, as Kyoniq swooped between these peaks, he noticed that in the center of them all was a swamp pockmarked with caves of all sizes. The Jugiha Temple must be here somewhere, thought Kyoniq as he landed to search.
    This was certainly a queer area. The ring of mountains surrounding the swamp blocked the sun from giving much light except at high noon. The terrain was a mix of rocky outcrops, groups of trees clinging to patches of solid ground, deep pools filled with mud or water, and yawning caverns that seemed to go straight into the underworld. No wonder the natives avoided this area.
    However, life still managed to survive here. Kyoniq was admiring a crocodile drifting through the murky water when a hand stuck out of a nearby mud pool. Stepping back, Kyoniq prepared his magic. A zombie dragged itself out of the pool, quickly followed by more. Kyoniq, now realizing the real reason this place was taboo, ordered the fluidform to attack. It changed into a leopard, then a hawk, gracefully tearing apart the zombies. Kyoniq helped, using his body-warping magic to hinder the zombies and empower the fluidform. However, the zombies didn't stay dead for long. A minute after one fell, it rose again. And more were still emerging from the mud all around. Kyoniq called off the fluidform and cast his spell.

    image

    Kyoniq altered one zombie's brain, stifling its connection to whatever dark force controlled it. It fell prone into a pool of magic. Dead zombies near it also fell under the enchantment's effect, not getting back up. Kyoniq cast more of these auras, growing more confident as he did. However, this was not enough. Zombies continued to crawl out of the mud and approached from all directions. It was time to end this. "Go back to where you came from, fiends!" shouted Kyoniq as he cast his spell. "It's time to start fresh!"

    image

    An orb of magical energy floated above Kyoniq, sucking in all the zombies (dead, alive, and still submerged in mud) and presumably returning them to the aether. The fluidform was sucked in too. Kyoniq would have to summon it again later. He hurried off before the zombies reappeared.
    Just then, Kyoniq was blinded by a ray of light as the sun cleared the mountain, illuminating the swamp. Kyoniq took to the air and saw the sun shining into one of the caves. When he saw what was inside it, he gasped, then dived down to the Jugiha Temple.

    Challenge #3 (Split Challenge!) - A new ally/Desired blood

    The days following the zombie attack you find more zombies that are walking toward something. You decide to follow them.
    The zombies lead you to a necromancer.
    The necromancer recognizes that you have been messing with his/her subjects but he/she is willing to forgive it if you help him take out a specific creature and her/his followers.
    You are even offered a small gift if you help.
    You follow the horde of the undead until you find the being that the necromancer talked about.
    The being seems to handle the undead without any trouble but could be overwhelmed if you interfered against them or you could help them.
    Will you assist the being against the undead to gain a new ally or will you take their desired blood?

    Choose one:

    Challenge A - A new ally
    You help the being against the undead horde and gain a new ally of such magnitude that it changes your powers.
    Create this legendary creature and eventually any followers to him/her and/or cards to mirror the new alliance.
    Note: The legendary creature has to be mono colored and of your new color.

    You are given from this option:
    * An additional color
    * 1 Legendary slot
    * 1 Rare slot
    * 2 Uncommon slots

    Challenge B - Desired blood
    You decide to follow the necromancer's request and kill this being and his/her followers to gain their desired blood.
    Create spells that can and most likely will kill.

    You are given from this option:
    * 1 higher maximum mana cost
    * 2 Rare slots
    * 2 uncommon slot

    As you can see, option A gives maximum points of 50 while option B gives 60 making B seemingly better. However starting from this week I will begin to include a "cover factor" and "Curve factor" at a small 5%.
    These will increase each week to a maximum of 50%. (50% is extremely high penalty and is practically impossible to reach and still be in the journey.)

    Curve factor is your combined curve of all your cards. Worse curve gives higher penalty. This should however not be a problem for any of you unless you try to puss all cards all week to the highest cmc possible with no way to ramp.
    Cover factor is the important one as this one covers (hehe pun) what your combined cards can and cannot do. Can they remove threats? Can they ramp? can they draw cards? can they remove artifacts/enchantments etc. Simply what an ordinary commander deck should be able to do if it don't want to rely on other people to remove problems from the board. You should be able to avoid any significant penalty from this if you make cards for or according to each challenge.
    This will be easier to maintain with more colors but the same penalty will be less significant for those that maintain fewer colors since they have higher maximum points. It's your choice.

    Jonte's exemple:
    I picked option A and white as my new color.
    Jonte's cards:

  • @Jonteman93, can fro and I meet up on this?
  • Yea! we should totally do that if we can :)
  • @Ranshi922 @DoctorFro
    I actually had plans to have some advantages and disadvantages for team play before I started all this. I also had plans that players could confront others and win points from them. I however decided to avoid too many special rules since this is my first contest of this type. I'll maybe include something like that in an eventual second journey.

    About your request. Story wise you can of course team up and do challenges together.
    I will however score your cards individually.
    So for example. For this challenge you could just say that there are two legendary creatures instead of one and then make one card each. You can also refer to each other or each other's cards in your own cards if you would want to.
  • Ok, but would a sort of synergy be of advantage?
  • My new ally
    image
    One of her followers
    image

    Also the mask is now to be considered legendary.
  • @Ranshi922 Your cards are individual so no synergies will be taken into consideration between yours and DoctorFro's cards.
    If there was a game advantage of team play then there would need to be some disadvantage as well to balance out and make it fair.
  • Fair enough (get it?)

    Here is my new friend :) . Story coming soon

    Planning (Start)

    'Three more has left the land... this matter seems to be even more... concerning.'

    "My lord, can I refer you as 'boss' too?" Asked a wingless demon while he was leaning on a wall, as he was also watching the meditating armored entity.

    "I believe the boss can't hear us." Commented the other adult human who was currently sitting and eating a juicy-looking apple.

    "You want some?"

    "He can hear us fine. And no thanks, little thief, we demons only need mana to sustain our life. You mortals seem to be overcomplicate yourselves with those numerous amount of junk that you eat everyday."

    "Junk, okay then. Your loss." Despite the banter, the veteran thief just threw away the rest of his apple.

    "Anyway, it was a luck that we could find those... unsavory people along the way that he can use as sacrificial objects for that... winged person." The thief narrowed his eyes.

    "It's a common rule among the demonkind that the more power you possess, the higher the price to obtain a service from you. For me, I'm just a humble and wingless one of the lower caste that don't need much aside from the mana from the summoner as my sustainment." Explained the leaning demon with a sigh.

    The sitting thief finally stood up, then he walked towards the balcony of the treehouse-hideout to observe the slowly falling sun at the horizon that was also observable from his position.

    "The cultists from that hidden settlement also seem to be more active nowadays. It's probably due to the outburst yesterday."

    "Humans are always be humans, little thief." Commented the demon as he was still observing his meditating summoner.

    "And it was a shame that the angel needed to die." Muttered the thief solemnly.

    "Tch, angels are no different than us demons. You stray from their 'perfect vision of the world' away a little, and you'll find your head unattached from your body. Speaking from my experience with my former summoners of course." Said the demon as he also emphasized some words here and there.

    "Yea, I guess so since that angel cried too much about righteousness and justice. Even that was very much annoying for a human's standard." The thief just scratched the back of his head.

    "Well, couldn't do much anyway. And I guess we'll now just wait then."

    "That I can agree." The demon just nodded.

    (My entries for challenge B)

    — || —

    "Jag'dranoth, Darius, we have to move."

    "Wh-what? Yet? But it's already dark outside." Commented the thief as he was scratching his eyes. He just took a nap on the nearby long wooden chair after all.

    The demon, still leaning on the wooden wall, looked sharply at the thief.

    "Okay, okay, so what's the plan anyway?" The thief then stood up and did a small exercise due to the harsh glare.

    "We'll visit a wizard academy to obtain a device that can transport living beings to another world. My time as a planeswalker is running short."

    "A planes-what? Another world?" Stammered the thief.

    "A planeswalker is an ascended being. They're supposed to be more powerful than the gods themselves. Besides that, they also could travel themselves to another worlds completely. Speaking from an experience." The demon finally commented.

    "Hold on, the nearest wizarding academy is pretty far from here. And if we reached that, how could you be sure that you would certainly get what you want?" Asked the thief.

    "Time is a trivial matter for me. And I have my methods to extract knowledge from the others. Now you both going to need horses, I suppose. And you Darius shall lead the way."

    "Well, there should be some horses left in the Vinheim, you know, the recently abandoned one."

    "Hah, mortals and their fears." Added the demon.

    "I shall leave for a moment while you both prepare yourselves for the journey." The armored entity then vanished with a maelstrom of black mana.

    "Did he just... go away to another world?" The thief just bewildered at the uncommon display of power of his 'boss'.

    "It could be. But if something is able to threatening a being like him, I'm sure that this journey is also very important for us too. Let's get ready." The demon then just jumped from the treehouse balcony to the ground below.

    "Hey, wait a moment!" Screamed the thief.
